For MTV standards I would say that's good

Still need a streaming service to air episodes on a day after the episode airs but I digress

Would literally save the franchise. How can Challenge USA be next day streaming, but not the flagship? Ridiculous.

LOL That idiot Scott Yager was predicting that the premire could get the show close to 1 million.

My favorite show Survivor gets double that without even breaking a sweat LOL. Skye Topic's karma.

challenge 39 that had 16 less people and no vets only debuted with 80k less LOL

CBS vs MTV.  It's not comparable

Maybe if a third or more of their audience didn't have to pirate the show because they don't stream it the next day it would be higher. Honestly this makes me madder than any casting decision.

426,000 for the lack of effort in marketing isn't terrible. Like everyone else the fact that there is no easy next day streaming is incredibly embarrassing and pathetic.

I spent about 45 minutes yesterday trying to find Episode 0 again and I gave up. I can't even find it on MTV's own website.

It's on the challenge youtube channel. Still haven't watched it tho.

Oh I know it's there, I was just trying to find it streaming somewhere else because on the youtube they changed the music in some scenes.

i was even expecting close to a million lol but i give mtv too much grace as if they didn't sabotage their own network by airing ridiculousness a million times a week and just airing the challenge one time and never again throughout the week for the last 10 years

The first episode was good and there's a bunch or eliminations next week with some relatively big names (Leroy Nia Nurys Theo and KellyAnne) going in for finishing last plus a Mark/Derrick matchup so I'm guessing they see similar rating or an improvement.  Going against BB and pulling that rating is impressive. Dumb for going against BB but they did well.

Literally 80% of the Facebook comments are people complaining about the inability to stream it. I think they'd near double their ratings (prob low end 650k, high end 750k) with next day streaming.

It should be on Paramount but they want people to have MTV

These would only be in conflict if someone doesn't have cable.

And, the thing is, no one is giving up cable to get Paramount . They either already did or are sticking with it.

Right--and they want people to need cable to watch that--it's the only way they get viewers.   Do I think anyone is going to get cable for The Challenge or any other show on MTV?  No--but that's their only card to play.   Paramount views aren't truly helpful to a dying network on a dying platform.

Ideally Paramount would just take The Challenge completely but...

Then, they alienate people who don't use cable at all. Now, they have to outsource to watch the latest episode.

If it were on there the next day, people would be incentivized to stream it, which is extra money. There's nothing "lost" by putting it on there the next day.

MTV having a streaming agreement with Paramount just makes obvious sense. It's ridiculous not to, they're the same parent company. They have ads on Paramount and basically 75% of the flagship is already streaming on there. Forcing everyone that doesn't have cable to pirate it or not watch is just an idiotic business decision. Almost no one is waiting six to eight months to watch this. They will either pirate or not watch and forget about it.

Paramount views would absolutely help because I'm sure MTV gets some type of ad revenue from the deal. NO ONE that doesn't already have cable is getting it to watch ONE tv show. Especially when nearly everything on cable these days is also available to stream.

Dont the cbs shows get a next day streaming agreement? Why cant mtv?

How does streaming it on Paramount help MTV?   It's not "extra money" for MTV.

I get what you're saying but MTV doesn't care if they alienate people that don't have cable--I think they've made that clear.

Even worse, Challenge USA had next day streaming for both seasons!

Lots of people will watch this when it's on Paramount later.

Even if they don't make anything extra (which I feel like they should, but I don't know what that looks like for them. Would WesTracked know?)

They don't LOSE anything, either. Paramount should probably have MTV available to stream above all.

Lots of people will watch this when it's on Paramount later.

People will illegally pirate before waiting 6 months to watch a show that's already out.

That's their option--either way not watching MTV

I mean, I wish it was on Paramount because I very rarely watch any non-sports live and I fully get what you're saying.  I just also understand why they're not doing it--they want people to have MTV.   If it's on Paramount the next day literally would anyone watch it live?

And not ideal, but I did look in last night's episode is available to purchase on Paramount for $2.   I mean....cheaper option than getting cable.
