Averey shouldn't talk about not wanting to be a pawn for people's games just to play scared and end up be a pawn for somebody's game lol. She could've made an impact by screwing with Cara and Kam by easily take out Tina and steal Cara's star.
The only two things that justify Averey's decision:
1.) If she angers Kam by taking her spot and "stealing" Kam's star, Kam immediately ostracizes Averey from the house and switches her target from Cara to Averey. Kam plays smart, but she can also play petty.
2.) Averey's basing her choice off of the Skulls format. The Skulls of 35 and 36, everybody had plenty of time to go get one. She's probably assuming there would be a double elimination or two coming and she could get her pick of Flora or Veronica without angering Kam/Laurel.
She should've told Kam before elimination that she's going down no matter what and ask her if she wanted to go against her or not. Kam would respect Averey coming down and taking Tina's spot and taking her out. If she takes the easy route and takes out Tina, Kam's fury would be ENDLESS.
That's a risk, though, because she obviously doesn't know the actual format, and also doesn't know what potential position she'd be in if there is a double elimination. Kam has people who are higher on her collaboration list than Averey, so I don't see where Averey risks much in going against Kam at this point because it's not like Kam really has her back. Now that Kam has a star, it would be in Kam's best interest to have 'the house' protect Veronica's star for the final and then have the rest of them battle for Nicole's star (getting back to what Cara told Nicole about using Cara as a buffer). That prospect is even more of a risk for Averey indvidually than getting Tina's star would have been, in my opinion.
Of course it also really all depends who wins the daily, and who loses it.

Yeah, we definitely needed more Flora. I think they edited things based on who is most relevant to what's happening in the game, but we want drama and humor. That's what production doesn't seem to get. Flora provided in those aspects, even if she was never relevant in the game.

Not only would the Flora/Cara fight have been 100x more interesting than anything we saw last week, it would have helped with this anti-Cara storyline too. It just seemed to come fast and furious with little build up.
Why is there a ******* Kam and Leroy segment EACH ******* EPISODE? Like we get it they are fathers they want the money there's no need for the same storyline to be present every ******* episode when nothing changes.
Leroy has 50 confessionals and 45 of them are the ******* same one in repeat

It was stupid for the main alliance part to let Averey have the win. They should have give it to Nicole. Laurel, Adam and Leroy where enough votes for it to work and with Nicole out 1) you protect her star 2) you block anyone from jumping in.
The plan only worked cause Averey doesn't have the balls to do anything, but it could have easily backfired and had the three of them (Laurel, Nicole and Kam) without a star halfway through the game.
Agree Nonja, this is giving Survivor Somoa. It's such an unbalanced edit and it's making a potentially great season dull. I'm sick of parents only identity is being parents. They harp on that sooo much with every parent and it's simply not interesting. They need a focus group or something because they are so out of touch with what's good tv

I just logged in for the first time in over 10 years to say WHY THE HELL DIDNT AVEREY GO DOWN IN PLACE OF KAM IN A JUMPING CONTEST AGAINST A 4 FOOT TALL WOMAN??!?!?!? Why did she even show up for this season if she's not going to try and win? I hope she goes home first on S40 just for this showing

I actually think Avery would've been fine if went down. Either say so ahead of time and pull Kam's card or weather the storm and just take the star.

b- other competitors have swapped clothes or production gave them some to change into
