The Real World Homecoming: New Orleans - Season 3

The moments where Melissa and Julie actually get along might be the best parts of the show--they're brief but it's a reminder of what the original show was

I loved their friendship. Their feud was great too but I'm ready to see them reconnect and rebuild.

Agreed--for me, those good moments make you realize the feud is legit not just something that was staged or petty.  There's genuine hurt there.

Caught up on the last two episodes and I think I'm good on this. Extremely underwhelming. The cast is being far too concerned with how they are making a show or coming off on the show and not in an entertaining way.

Probably has a lot to do with them being too controlling with who the production team was.  When I heard that I knew this group would be too guarded and boring. Sure enough. I went from watching this as soon as it dropped at 2am to like a day later this season. It's still entertaining but not must see television. Shows how much I'm paying attention I didn't even notice Kelley didn't go on the swamp excursion.

i'd say this is the worst of the 3. LA was must watch TV, NY was fun bc it was the first time they did it and the cast got along and had fun. NOLA is not fun

Y'all can hate but I'm still loving it. Anyway, I feel like Kelley is coming off awful om this and I love to see it. She seems so elitist and snobby. She thinks she's so cool cause she married a d-list who makes guest appearances on low rated shows. She sucks. I hope her boringass book flops.

I will be watching the last episode this weekend! But after seeing the first few I understand where production and editors frustration came from with this cast/storyline.

- Season 2- So far the best one for me I felt like we had a lot of good moments & caught my attention from beginning to end. The cast were more open to the experience.

- Season 3- It hasn't been bad but I feel like they are stuck and stretching the Julie stuff for way to long. I am not connecting with the cast and it hasn't keep me engaged like season 2 did.

- Season 1- It was cute that they reunited the first reality show! But since I haven't watched the og season I didn't have nostalgia for any of them. I felt like it was relatively boring and Becky stuff got way to stretch out.

The biggest problem with NOLA is that they are there for the check. They have no interesting in reconnecting, reliving, or opening up about the past. Julie belongs with a cast who wants to be filming and to make good tv, that's why we need her on All-Stars.

I'm still enjoying this season thanks to Julie and Melissa, occasionally Tokyo's permanently tripping on LSD self, and eye-candy Jamie. Danny's storyline was cute for an episode and the blondes Matt and Kelley have provided nothing other than surprises of aging sort of gracefully. I didn't watch Homecoming NY because I just wasn't interested at the time, LA was gold, and NOLA has been mildly entertaining TV for the most part. Shit, I'll take it.

Living for the julie show. Better than LA!

Julie deserves a bonus check.  She is making the season & other than Melissa, she's the only one livening up the joint.

Oh I wouldn't recommend anyone watch the first homecoming without seeing the NY season first. I think you have a much stronger connection to the people and appreciation for the way it was executed after experiencing those people back when it was such a new experiement and really felt raw. Also, you'll fall in love with Julie as a castmember.

Season 2 homecoming was amazing drama and Tami reigned. I loved Dominic, but the cast was so separated in the original.

Season 3 isn't it. People are praising Julie just because "she's bringing something" while everyone else isn't, but I don't think it's anything great or organic, so it's not like she's saving it. The Paul stuff was a snooze. And the racial stuff also felt like a forced snooze. It was addressed in a more compelling way in previous Homecomings. I understand Melissa's sentiments that it's exhausting.

I don't have any issue with Kelley--even when Melissa was like "she's married to Scott Wolf" and Melissa's dad said "who's that" her response was simply "exactly".  Kelley is here for Danny.  We all know it.  I don't know why anyone has an issue with it.  She didn't need the money but did this for a friend.  She has the relationships with the people that she wants in her life.

Yea NO is too white.

lol

I said what I said. Glad the editors accidentally backed up my claim with the footage this week. This is the same bland *** white cast who in the year 2000 thought it was ok to use the word "colored", didn't bat an eye when the swamp tour guide used the N word with them and there were 3 roomies from rural America. Not diverse at all. I first watched The Real World during Miami which had 4 of the most diverse women ever assembled to watching The Real World New Orleans: Redneck Island.

Lol so you are mad that The Real World reflected the real world at that time?

at that time?  Honey it was the year 2000 not 1962.

In 2000 the US was 75.1% white.   NOLA was less than that--it represented America accurately

In 2000 it wasn't far fetched to be from parts of the country where you had little to no interaction with a black person and "colored" was a common term. You didn't have the internet at your finger tips. She was Mormon so her parents probably limited what shows she could watch on tv. Also, it's still common for white people to not comprehend how the n word is hurtful and offensive like Jamie. They think it's just a word they people give too much power to. Julie was crushing on the black man and best friends with the black chick, it's not like she was telling them to drink out of a different water fountain. They purpose of the show was to put people from different walks of life to learn and grow, Julie was what the show was all about. Could we have used a minority over flops like Kelley and Matt? Of course, but you are trying to make such a bigger deal about this and it doesn't seem genuine.

You two KKK members going so hard for a redneck island season of The Real World is disturbing.

I'm providing facts--not sure why you can't comprehend those.  Plus your fake wokeness is pathetic.

julie is carrying this season on her back i'm sorry

You two KKK members going so hard for a redneck island season of The Real World is disturbing.

Exactly. You have nothing to add to the conversation, nothing either of us said was offensive or racist. It was literally facts. You just want to use trigger words and attacks, but falsely using a serious issue like racism because you can't have a mature discussion just shows your own level of ignorance.

julie is carrying this season on her back i'm sorry

No need to be sorry--you're correct.  Melissa's parents might be second and third.

Ugh ******* me off in one thread and completely on point in another.

Oh is that right?  You defend someone's actions for being racist?  But I'm the one in the wrong here?  Please stop deflecting.

Please quote where I defended a racist?

When you said the year was 2000 and the word colored was a common term. I don't know what kind of cousin screwing bumF town you were in but where I'm from the word colored was not common at all to refer to a black person. Oh and is you arguing all day with people back and forth on Vevmo having "a mature discussion"?  If so rock on.

When you said the year was 2000 and the word colored was a common term.

Either you have terrible reading comprehension or you just saw what you wanted to pick a fight using performative wokeism. I said in 2000 it wasn't far-fetched that in parts of the country that it was common. That is fact, that was Julie's truth. She's not just going to say it on national tv in front of two black people unless in her world it is normal and not offensive. I also never said it's right. It's awful and sad that in 2022 it's still common to some people even with resources and knowledge that Julie didn't have. It's sad that no one understood Melissa's side in 2000 of the n word being used. It's sad to hear her share that she became the villian and got hate mail because of that. But acknowleding that it was clearly common doesn't mean I think it's ok by any means. But the purpose of the show was for those uncomfortable conversations and for ignorant people like Julie to learn and grow. It was literally the premises of the show. So again not sure what your point is other than to using a serious issue in attempts to win a fight instead of having a logical discussion. And you go back and forth to so don't come at me with that hypocrisy lol.

and "colored" was a common term.

and "colored" was a common term.

Correct. In 2000 it was common in parts of the country. What is your point?
