I hope this does good but I do see it doing ayto8 ratings ****

the ratings are going to be bad, y'all might need to just accept that. it's not appealing to the cash demographic.

what you need to be hoping for is that MTV likes what they put out. theyll put out something that flops and not care. they do it with ridiculousness all the time

When many of this cast were last on the Challenge, they pulled in 1.5 to 2+M per episode.   It's the people who stopped watching MTV that CBS wants to bring back.  The old plan was for those former MTV viewers to graduate from the MTV demo and move on to VH1.  It never happened, Then BRAVO came along with Real Housewives, Jeff Lewis, Southern Charm, Below Deck and E with the Kardashians.  CBS thinks long term. Their strategy will include fewer things like Rediculousness and more seasons of OGs.CBS seems to be applying the same logic applies to the RW season reunion shows.  There is a thread for one of those already at vevmo. I expect others to follow.

But that was back on a time where streaming services and other alternatives weren't a thing. Ratings aren't getting close to that anymore if this get over 500k live viewers with a good demo after the first episode it will be a success for a cable show.

Most older viewers aren't coming back to see this, just us lol. If they were able to get Coral and Miz then maybe it would help bring some back. Sadly it needed CT and maybe even Johnny or Wes. In my opinion the cast is just missing the appeal it will need to be successful with the demographics.

The BB Allstars ratings were not good tho? nostalgia does not sell like that. nothing is going to generate views like it did before because of streaming. nobody watches TV like they did in the 2000's expecting that to transfer over is just very out of touch tbh

Exactly! it didn't work rating wise for Jersey shore and The Hills reboots.

The executives are banking that nostalgia will sell this show. They need to go hardcore with social media promo and do cross-channel promoting on every Viacom owned network. The best bet is to show commercials featuring archive footage from some of the famous Real World moments like Trishelle's hottub threesome, then tease what they look like now and that all these faces are reunited for the first time in years.New viewers will be here for the drama, older viewers will be here because they actually remember these folks. Even then, I also expect Champs vs Stars ratings at best.

i don't ever see the logic in it like it's linear and that's what people like now a days when it's the opposite. they don't know who or care who these people are. It's similar to how the music industry has been taken over by whether or not your song goes viral on Tik Tok lmaoo it's just different

Old school casual fans aren't tuning in for the nostalgia of Sophia, Arissa, Kendal, Teck, Yes, LT, and Jisela. No one (besides us) is tuning in for Jemmye, Jonna, Eric, and Ryan. The cast doesn't have what it needs to pull in old school casuals or new school casuals.

Ratings will flop for sure but I'm gonna enjoy the **** out of this season even if it ends up being a one time thing. F the casuals, MTV will always cater to them and they can take one season of doing a simple wiki search to see who these people are.

if this even airs on MTV, i know that's what's likely right now but if it goes to that Paramount + thing as original content then ratings won't matter at all. they just need a decent about of subscriber increase from it

I still think they can make this work with a decent promo like airing an special and the first episode each after the last 2 episodes of Double Agents. To attract the main show viewers and hope they are loyal enough to stick around. Hopefully the cast is able to deliver a good content that they will find attractive to watch.

In my opinion this just need similar ratings as the CT wedding special to get another season which was over 500k & decent demo which are good for the current standards.

If they do that I think they'll be fine.

I also think there will be way more drama than this current season so even if a lot of them are out of shape it should be interesting if people tune in for an episode or two to start.

I can see them bringing  CT or Bananas as a mercenaries at some point just to show it on the trailer and get casual hype to tune in.

I'm actually surprised they're going to Argentina. They were locked down and all travel coming in was banned last I knew, but that could've changed the last month.

Argentina was also where the Challenge helicopter crashed a few years back as well.

Sophia <3

I hope Big Easy gets drop on the challenge mania Nashville event he was annoying that people were asking him challenge questions and a total **** about it. Kendal is very sweet and beautiful in person. I am glad Tori Hall isn't on this she was very similar to Big Easy.

I think MTV could benefit greatly from a fresh meat type of season. I think it's time to mix things up and cast applicants from the states. A OG season with people who were relevant 10-15 years ago is not going to draw a massive crowd in the year 2021

Im shocked also that they didnt use bananas, ct or wes for this when they are old school and who the casuals like. It makes no sense to not have them on honestly to guarantee decent ratings in its first season.

Every season is basically a Fresh Meat season now. And I don't think they are looking for massive ratings, just moderate succees with a nice profit. I just don't think they were able to put the necessary cast together to do that.

Who are the casual fans though? Like people I know who have seen the challenge don't watch it now and watched it when these older people were on.. and i know they'd rather watch their favs from then than the ones now.

so who is the main audience now? I always felt it was the loyal fans that kept the show alive.. i realize some the newbs here don't know most of these people but y'all still guna be tuning in

A fresh meat season either lol

Fresh Meat 2 did horrible on ratings during the time it aired and the standards that they had at that time. The Network was getting 3-5 millions with Jersey shore and Teen Mom. The challenge hardly 1 million and like 2 episodes under back then those numbers would get shows cancelled.

Jisela showing up to show Aneesa how thicc girls should really do it.....we STAN

I heard she was kind of a flop as competitor when she was skinnier even on Road Rules? Or ppl are lying?

Yea she wasn't really a competitor. She was the 4th eliminated on Battle of the Seasons and Sexes and back then they had a scoreboard for your performance and she had the lowest score when she was eliminated.

And she only survived as long as she did on Seasons because they took out the strongest teams first. Yes/Veronica and Chadwick/Piggy.

ugh I wish Chadwick and Piggy were on this one lol

I'm worried this cast won't be appealing to the masses and ratings will be bad.

Just keep sending out positive vibes to the universe! It'll be a hit!

War Of The Worlds was basically their fresh meat season. All of those rookies are basically banned now tho so ( or they won't come back. )

This^^^^--see WOTW and nothing is going to draw a "massive" crowd.   Also, this has nothing to do with the actual show--they aren't expecting this cast to start doing the real show.

This, the "they brought much more ratings back then" is such an out of touch point to make

How many episodes will this be? 8-10 overall?

They could put this on before the last 2 or so episodes of Double Agents, 2 episodes of the Reunion special .. and if people aren't tuned in after 4 episodes of it then nothing you can do.

Smart of them to put people like Jemmye on who will start shit on twitter no matter what happesn... needs to be a lot of dumb drama for semi casual fans to stick around or give it a shot.

im unclear how important mtv values the twitter/IG/facebook fans but based on them casting ninja, bear etc seems to be a big deal to them

Who is going to be excited to watch a 40 year old married Trishelle? She was known and popular for thotting around with different guys in hottubs and having threesomes. Other than she was never an interested character and the fans hated her after Rivals 2.

Bear will hopefully be in jail so we're safe there

Are you saying a married Trishelle won't be banging Ace in the hot tub if he gives her the chance?   If so, you don't know Trishelle.
