I honestly can´t say what´s worse, the environment and pressures of living in a challenge house, or the constant bashing on social media.Cast members get so much hate its ridiculous. Cara deactivated her twitter to get a break and MTV basically enforces social media activity at least once a week (on Wednesdays)and makes it part of the contracts. Don´t get me wrong, I think she needs a season off, especially after getting to a final 3 times in a row and consequently being in this environment for the whole filming period, but social media and especially the twitter wars with castmates and hate from trolls have to be damaging.

It really is a vicious cycle. As much as I hate on Cara, I really don't want anything bad to happen to her. I feel like she's the most impressionable person on the Challenge and we've been saying since FMII that she really didn't have a sense of self or direction, and so she just adapted the Challenge as her persona. The problem now is that she was a beloved character and she got addicted to that love and attention, and now that everyone is sick of her and turning on her, she has no way to deal with people hating her appearances on the only thing that she's made her whole life about. It's disturbing to see her try and seperate herself (deactivating her Twitter), and failing over and over and impulsively having to return and comment on every post and create drama and spend hours and hours blocking people and such. She's been crying, trying to embrace her new "villian" role, using sarcasm to cope with the hate, etc, but I really, really think she needs a break. Look at what it did for Nany who also was on a vicious down spiral. The problem is that unlike Nany, Cara really doesn't see value in her own life unless it's recorded and broadcasted for the world to see (Abram and others always said this).

When Paulie and Cara inevitably crash and burn, I think that'll be the breaking point for Cara and I just hope she's able to deal with it and get help. This coming from probably her biggest hater on here lol.

The guy on Love Island who recently took his own life really disturbed me. Such a young and good looking guy with his whole life ahead, and now he's gone. I'm glad it's being discussed on here and at least some people give a damn unlike a lot of these producers.

Not a Cara hater, but also no stan :DI reallyy don´t hate any of the cast, and would feel bad for anyone who gets bashed so much. I thought people were too cruel to Amanda as well last season, even though she seemed to embrace a villain role and separate it from her private person. And I don´t watch LI but it has to be a wake up call. They need to take mental health much more seriously for current and former cast, its just not realistic to expect them to take breaks and ask for help themselves when they need it. Especially when they film season after season without much of a break and cast have to compete with more people (international) for their spots.

100% agree. As much as I dislike Cara, I do feel bad about her eventual meltdown because like you said she's always been easily impressionable. I honestly think if she wasn't with Paulie right now and was getting this much hate she would be losing it. I think because she has Paulie by her side she's able to manage it which kind of sucks since Paulie is likely using that to his advantage.

300% true.

On a random side note, I'm rewatching Duel 2 and there's just so many little things that I notice that have changed between then and now. For one, the cast actually cheers for each other during missions and eliminations. Like, everybody, not just your friends. It was a good sportsmanship type thing. Now it's this whole intense ~you're going down i'm the best ra ra ra~ lack of comeraderie schtick. Second, there's not a ton of drama every episode. Granted, the Duel 2 was a more tame season compared to, like, Inferno 2 or something but even in more dramatic seasons, it wasn't jumping from fight to fight to fight. Every episode does have a little drama/tension, but fights aren't common. Hell, I remember during the Duel 1, Aneesa vs. Robin was a big deal (hence why they were partnered for Rivals like five years later - their fight was still memorable and they didn't even have to stretch rivalries at that point). And they didn't even really fight... Aneesa told off Robin for being an ignorant dumb ***. Nowadays, we'll get like two or three fights an episode and they're all super intense. Don't get me wrong, I love drama and am entertained by it, but watching an older season has made me realize that the fights that DID happen were more memorable and significant in a way because the show wasn't inundated with that type of drama like it is now.

Okay, nostalgic musing over. I know we're never going to go back to the way things were, but I'll keep watching the show until it inevitably crashes and burns.

That's what I miss about it.  I still watch to no matter what since I've been watching since Sexes 1 and saw all of the original seasons before that but one (still working on that) but it was still super entertaining imo.  The fights were more iconic because each episode wasn't over saturated with them.  The sportmanship, the friendship, and seeing the cast members actually have freedom and fun made it fun to watch.

I will say the format of this season reminds me of old school days...I do like it.  I just miss that vibe that just isn't there anymore.  People were ******* back in the day too...but they seemed to have redeemable qualities and didn't seem to be over the top for camera time and thinking it's the only way they'll be invited back year after year.

I also forgot to mention how funny it was that Wes was quick to change his vote despite how he been wanting to take out the UK. Kam/Ash must've scared him in that tribunal lol

That Kareem article was nothing but everyrhing we already know. Nothing insightful.

That's NOT true! Nany says hi land multiple ex  on the beach people ol

They like them interacting with fans but if they don't want to then they wouldn't force them to used Twitter. It's no where in the contract.

I´m glad that´s not true.... when Cara deactivated her twitter for a few days and then returned she did a ig live. I took her explanation as her having to post on Wednesdays.Sorry for my false interpretation Sad

Best alliance to ever grace the challenge comes from the duel 2... Queens Diem Brown, Kimberly Alexander, and Tori Hall

eh ginger kinda annoying me HEAVILY but he doesn’t show up as often as John so he wins by default.

Wes isn’t even sending these UK kids home, like this season in particular he’s just saying things to make himself seem smart but actually doing nothing politics wise. Him and Dee are performing well tho

lol I was sad he didn't follow through...and actually kind of shocked.  I also couldn't believe I was rooting for Amanda during that one.

Did anyone pull a Diem on the Ruins this year and just appear for the check?  I felt like a lot of regulars peaced out early.

Maybe Ashley M but she's unstable and can quit at any time on any season.   CT nor John intended to go home eaerly iMO.   Abram did that on The Island.  Karamo on THe Inferno 2.  Jisela on Gauntlet 2.  I'm sure there's others that I'm forgetting.  Probably Cameran on Gauntlet 2 since they were just desperate for bodies.

I feel like Jisela didn't care one way or the other and had she never gone into elimination she never would have just coasted till the end, but when it came time to vote someone off she just happily left lol

Jisela on Battle of the Seasons was all about trying to make the end and prove that she wasn't useless after she was voted off on the RR The Quest.  Jislea had by far the lowest score of any of the girls when she was voted off on Sexes.  Finding veteran girls for Gauntlet 2 was pretty much impossible for production.  I'm pretty sure it's been said that Jisela didn't have the time off work but agreed to go knowing she had to leave.  The Gauntlet 2 still frustrates me because had Coral, Veronica, Tonya, etc not all refused to go the future on the show would have been very different.

Oh I didn't know that about Jisela.  That's lame. I also with Jisela and Adam would have went home earlier and we would have gotten more Chadwick & Piggy.

And I agree...That was one of the first major turning points (as far as the cast in concerned) when a lot of the major players stopped coming on when they got mad at production.  Gauntlet 2's cast I actually loved, but then we were fed Fresh Meat right after and it really did change the show forever.

I don't care for the outcome, just all parties involved in the Wes v UK rivalry are tenfold more entertaining than John v TYB rivarly.

You all will be SHOOK when Queen Lauren O’Connell from Survivor Edge of Extinction comes on The Challenge 36 or 37 and ends your faves.
