The Challenge: State of the Culture

I do remember watching Free Agents and hoping from day 1 they would have all just sucked it up and worked together. They legitimately allowed themselves to be taken out as a group when they could have done damage albeit just with numbers.

I miss Brandon he was always one of my favorites even if it’s because he looks and talks just like my brother

You’ve got “unwilling to have discussions” mixed up with “not wanting to discuss anything with YOU” Big Difference. Anyway back to our scheduled programming of not paying it any mind

Not true--it's just a group mentality that always wants to talk with people that agree with them.  Which is sad, pathetic and a problem but keep believing I'm the problem for being honest

Free Agents had a diverse group of black people meaning it wasn’t the same ole same ole group of black people which had actually diminished between the Fresh Meat-Exes 2 era. That was truly the same people like Brandon, Ty, Darrell, ANEESA and not many were cast those seasons. Wasn’t there like 2 black people on The Ruins and Fresh Meat? Smh

Free Agents saw a good mix of different black people on the show but never again. We back on the same people sprinkle that new one to the group and that’s it lol

If just one of them would have been the link to say “just look y’all I know some of us might not get along the best but let’s make this US work because imagine the faces at home if we actually do this” would have been glorious

Dude if they ever did a rivals you’d have 30 options at this point lmaooooo I thought I was bad but definitely not compared to you! Smile

FOREVER ONE OF MY FAVORITES! He could come on and be "boring" or whatever all day everyday I loved his presence in the house. His whole personality was chill, laid back, and always down for a good time. I got happy he said they still call him that's so cute sksksk he's thriving now though

lol--we'd have about the same number of rivals

Who's still pissed off about the power couple dinner with Leroy and Nia? I am. But I'm glad they took it with grace and made a joke out of it, but I peeped that shit.

I want Kam to be that beacon for all the new black women on the show that they know for sure they can rally with and not feel alone.

i know with the guys 9/10 if a new black boy comes on the show he’ll be drawn to Cory & Nelson and they’ll vibe back so I’m not worried about that

I think Brandon was or would've been that person but Swift smmfh

He got his proverbial "wake-up call" tho once he saw he was just as disposable as the rest. Then we never saw him again (production has the same mentality IMO)

his baby girl is so adorable too ugh miss him

Jasmine is the reason why we have AYTO on this show and have been introduced to the legends of AYTO3 and few other standouts. THANK YOU LEGEND! We were made at first but we love them now Biggrin

Got two children (well one on the way) now too >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

So robbed. He experienced a whole lot of BS during his time on the show & he surely deserves his moment.

Swift's decision on Free Agents is what confused me the most.  I kind of get Aneesa and Jasmine seeing Nia as a threat to their ability to be cast in the future because BMP/MTV has their idiotic quotas to fill instead of just casting the best possible people for the show.

I think The Ruins had 5 black people (Darrell, Syrus, Adam, Brianna and Nick) but that's just going off memory.  I'm still livid Aneesa wasn't on that season.  It would have been perfect for her with those eliminations.

Fresh Meat was a huge problem.  Pretty sure Darrell was the only AA veteran and he went home first because everyone was terrified of the champ.  Brandon and Sydney were the only other if I remember correctly.

Whoever cast that season needs to do it again lol not only was it a diverse group of us, you also had random returns like Cohutta & isaac.

Yeah, that was...bad

So glad her last moments on the show were of her getting shredded by The Queen. She really violated in damn near every possible way on Free Agents.

Jasmine was just...should have never been on. I tried to see it for her and I couldn’t

And people (you know who) thought that shit was HILARIOUS. Like oh ok......

Agreed--Free Agents was one of the best casts of the new era.  The format was flawed but casting was spot on.  Wasn't Coral strongly considered for that season as well or am I confusing that with somethign else?

I really feel like some people in this thread don't get the point of it. This thread is about disscussing black experiecne on the challenge. That means what the black castmembers go through, how they're percieved and what they do. That also leads to other bigger disscussions as well. It's not an echo Chamber. Also this whole Scott/Nia situation needs to be let go. Noone is changing their mind on it and it's just beating a dead ******* horse at this point.

I've done great at ignoring you for months but there is too much hypocrisy here. You've beaten, ran over, backed up over, stabbed, kicked, and penetrated the dead horse of worthless females and your distain for them and your love for steriod meatheads...so what is the difference here.

Nia beat a girl and her man that she lived with and endured for several weeks like 5 years ago. Since then she has matured and changed. She is incredibly intelligent, well-spoken, funny, charitable, and charismatic...so to say that she must behave like she's been beating******* for years is so condescending and idiotic. She doesn't even really engage in fake twitter feuds or blow up, her stuff is uplifting and kind...so what is he talking about? There is complete ignorance there, especially considering who he does support. Plus what is she going to do on a podcast that they couldn't edit out...

Jasmine should be allowed on purely for her iconic cast photos imo.

Name a more iconic cast photo. I'll wait.

Ummm...not sure if you're serious...lol

Which one of y'all used to call that a bird's nest? LMAOOOO

Devyn stating all the black people leaving early resembled a horror movie was the most real/hilarious thing.  Honestly, the unity between the AAs was non-existent, to say the least. Aneesa/LaToya seemed to be cool but that was about it. And, it didn't help that most of them weren't great competitors.
