Sooo I was a casual Real World viewer...I watched all of New York (season 1), San Deigo (the original), Austin, Phili, & Portland. I don't remember much of Phili besides Melanie's Scabies episode lol. Then I caught random episodes from others. What season would you all suggest that are the most entertaining? Are the gimic seasons worth it? I've seen every Challenge Season (minus 3 & 4 which I'm currently watching) like multiple times, but I want to get to know the Real World better (and Road Rules but I already have a plan for that lol). I would watch them as much as I could but timing usually only let me watch the Challenge and I loved the idea of these people coming from Road Rules and Real World since I was a casual fan of both at the time.
Real World Hollywood arguably had the best casting of the newer(post Vegas 1) seasons...
Next, I think Vegas is iconic because it started the shift into the superficial sexual tension and drama which continued later throughout the series...
Omfg I rewatched the last episode of Key West. I shouldn’t have done it I’m suddenly sad now dksjjsskjaj. Was there any other ending with that much emotion.

The ending of DC made me sad...i think DC was one of the best seasons & Portland was iconic just for storyline sake & shock value, the ending sucked though..we couldve used one more episode.

DC will forever be one of my faves and I say this every time this convo gets brought up. NOLA was also the downfall of the series but *sips tea*

i loved the key west finale! Say what ya want about Paula but she had a great story on real world
I actually just finished rewatching the DC season and it's pretty underappreciated. I totally get the argument that it was boring... some episodes dragged on more than others... but every cast member was overall an interesting choice. I think they suffered from a lack of chemistry, and weird editing. The episodes weren't very cohesive and didn't tell that much of a season-long story. Instead, we have people like Emily who shine in the beginning and take a back seat later in the season, to Erika who is wallpaper for the beginning of the season and has 2 or 3 whole episodes devoted to her later.
Going back and revisiting this season as an adult and watching this cast again is pretty weird.
First, Andrew. I remember him as the goofy, lovable little brother type guy. Can we talk about how uncomfortable he made me for most of the season? He was pretty misogynistic, especially with the way he approached girls. It made me so uncomfortable in certain scenes where girls would just be obviously trying to get away from him and he would just dog them. And he was also pretty bold and made some kinda racist jokes. I know he was good friends with Ty and Josh, but he still shouldn't have been saying certain things.
Josh wasn't as MUCH of a snoozefest as I remember. I think Josh actually had some potential as a cast member, with his background and all. And even though he was a cheating d-bag... hey, those people exist and need their stories told too I guess. Josh's problem is that his perspective was lost on his rather dull personality and he spent most of the season with his band, and we barely got to see him interact with his roommates.
Mike was a good "Real World cast member". He showed a lot of growth throughout the season and he represented issues that society was facing (and tbh still faces) at the time. But... ******* was he boring? Even his whole relationship drama was..... a snoozefest. He seemed like a great person to live with but meh... not interesting to watch. Also when I was 14 I thought he was soooo hot but he is... not that cute eight years later.
Ty was Ty. I wish we did get to hear a little bit more about his background (it's touched upon but not in a way that ties into his actions on the show), but he was a good character overall.
Emily was more of a standout than I remember. She had such a "grab life by the balls attitude" and it's crazy to see her so young on the show and how far she's developed since then. The tumult surrounding her relationship with Ty was interesting to watch and she wasn't afraid to stand up to him.
Erika... I came off the show 8 years ago loving her. But she really was wallpaper, then cried a bunch, and went home. That's really all she offered to the show. Since the show, she's done pretty well - she works in the radio industry, was in a band, and married her boyfriend from the show. But on the show? I think they should have gone and cast someone else. She just seemed miserable all the time and the roommates were right - she didn't want to take advantage of the opportunities presented to her.
While I found Emily more of a stand out than I remembered, I actually found Ashley less so. Don't get me wrong, she's still Queen Lindley and I love her to death. She was fiery, said whatever she felt, and was very open and candid about the struggles she's faced in her life. I just remembered her being the center of, like, every episode and there were quite a few episodes where she's in the background. Still should've been a Challenge regular though.
Callie is someone who I THINK was overall a good casting choice, but... again, she wasn't. I actually also just listened to an interview from 2010 with her and she kind of validated that for me. She came onto the show with that kind of small-town girl in the big city vibe... she followed her ambitions (photography), had external conflict (with Erika when she was leaving), internal conflict (when Ty called her fat)... but I just felt the whole time that she was holding back. And she confirmed in that interview that she was very self conscious about the cameras and it was only towards the end when she started to become comfortable in the entire situation. And I felt that unfortunately came through in the show. I think that if she had let loose a little bit more... sure, she wouldn't have been the most entertaining cast member but she would've been a more compelling one to watch. Also, who knew that she really, really wanted to do Challenges?
Can I also just say that the episode Erika goes home is one of the freaking funniest episodes ever? First, Erika was trying to hook Callie up with one of her friends and it clearly wasn't happening. Erika pulls her aside and says "You're being a little stuck up" and Callie STORMS out the phone room to Ian and his friend and goes "Am I being stuck up?! Am I being a stuck up *****?!" and storms off *******. And then Erika, after deciding to leave and then changing her mind for the 85th time, goes up to her roommates wanting them to beg her to stay... "I've decided to stay" and Ashley just goes "Oh no, I can't do this shit" and just leaves and Erika just bursts into tears *******O.
The Key West finale had me in tears. I watched it the last day I was in my the city of my undergrad, after my roommate/bestie moved out, before I moved to another country for a job.
***** I was EMOTIONAL. Paula's story from RW Key West to Rivals 2 is one for the ages.
Surely someone on here has the whole season of RW Hollywood saved somewhere...mind being the real MVP & gift us all with a link? :)Back to New York too please.

Nah somebody uploaded the 2nd half of that season on YouTube a year or two ago & I can't remember the person's name :( does anybody remember what I'm talking about? I may have made a post on it.

SERIOUSLY. It almost brings me to tears thinking about where she is today and where she came from. I watched Key West after I had watched every single Challenge that Paula had been on, and going into it I knew she had issues on the season, but damn... I was just shocked. At certain points I was surprised she was even still alive. And then her journey and growth throughout all the seasons... wowza

Because not all fans have watched Real World since Key West or has watched the Challenge since her debut.

I think people just hate how she was pretty much just a sheep for JEK and went along with whatever they did/said (like bullying). She has an amazing story but she wasn't always the best person.

lol.... everything is idolized about the past ONLY because our present isn't ideal..
paula was a remarkable character on key west, and I enjoyed her brief stint on the duel ( which I w***urprised by considering her various issues)
but Paula quickly became an entitled *****... let's be honest... The Veterans(g3) were trying to keep the likes of Paula, Casey and Robin over Coral Beth and Katie despite them having more abilities and accolades only because the older girls were their seniors...
the island she got backstabbed. Duel 2 she w***till hard up for Dunbar and ****** over her stupid *** alliance....and on cutthroat she was talking bout knowing how to play the game and warning Camila only to get ****** over her damn self.
rivals I am happy that Laurel verbally beat that bimbos ***... only because she was a secondary/silent bully to laurels partner cara Maria (at least in the scenes shown leading to the argument... perhaps more)
I wonder if she's still mad WITH Tyler about him getting dropped for Ty on Rivals 2... oh well...
and i I don't like her, but she was a good character for the franchise... and note I hate mostly everything so ya know... whateva
There was a “Meet The Cast” tonight on MTV Canada for “The Royal World”... I think it’s an unofficial spin off to the real world lol. 7 wealthy/royal strangers (and one average American that is the newphew of Meghan Markle lol) live in a palace and have their lives and extravagant parties taped. All the drama over tea... it’s so weird

It looks boring based on the videos I've seen on Youtube but I'm not a fan of most of the MTV international shows.
I'm watching RW Key West on fb watch and ugh they picked on Svet so much, a disrespected queen smh Also Bananas suprisingly used to be really good looking maybe we stan his youth>>>>
you mean where he was an overgrown frat boy already who ripped girls tops off, make fun of Paula hooking up with a girl, and constantly called Tyler the F-word?
Maybe attractive physically but Bananas still was a piece of shit and remains that way

Who was the last person for DC left? It must not have been Legend Lindley because I would’ve remembered. Probably Andrew ZzZzz
I’m going to let y’all finish but GBGH had one of the worst finales of all time!
Sabrina: “I’m going to meet my long lost mother who gave me up for adoption”
Production: “Do y’all hear sumn?”
a trash finale for a trash season
QUeen Ash shouldve but Emily left last
