RIP Dave Mirra - Dead At 41 Of Apparent Suicide

Shocked and saddened by the news reports:

BMX legend and MTV's The Challenge host Dave Mirra dies aged 41 of apparent suicide just yards from his old high school after leaving cryptic messages on Instagram paying tribute to his wife

RIP Very sad news to hear today Sad

I just read that and went straight to vevmo :/

Met Dave my junior year of college at McAlister's in Greenville.  Dude was humble and chill and just a great all around guy.  He's gonna be missed, and say prayer for his wife and two daughters...

Damn very sad and scary. You just never know what demons people are going through. Which is why you gotta always be kind to people. Something I still fail to not do smh

Rest In Paradise Dave.

So sad to hear this.  He seemed like such a nice, down to earth & genuine guy.  He was my favorite challenge host ever & he will be missed.

Same, I was just watching the Inferno and Inferno 2 this past week. RIP Dave.

Really sad about this, my favorite bmx rider growing up.

Always such a cool, laid back guy

I noticed on instagram Veronica posted about it and Holly Shand commenting it remembering him.  Sad.

Wow. Like I said in the other thread I'm shocked as hell to read this. Dave seemed very chill and down to earth on the challenges and outside of them as well. I also had a pic of him on my wall when I was a teenager and I played one of his video games back when I had a Playstation 2.

With that said Suicide is a serious thing and like someone said. You should try to be good with people because you don't know what's going on inside of them and you could be saving someone's life with your kindness.

Dave will be missed by his friends, family, and his fans. I bet he's up there right now teaching god some awesome bike tricks. RIP Dave.

Sad news but a completely cowardly thing to do. And selfish

So sad to hear this.  He seemed like such a nice, down to earth & genuine guy.  He was my favorite challenge host ever & he will be missed.

favorite? He was terrible host though. Still his daughters have to go through this though.....so selfish

Nostalgic you are an insensitive piece of shit. Even if you are ignorant enough to feel that way posting it in an RIP thread hours after it happen shows what a disgusting human you are. Clearly he was battling something deep you don't understand, people who kill themselves aren't thinking logically or in a sound mind. In his (mentally) sick mind he probably thought it was best for his daughters. Don't speak on something you don't understand or are too stupid to comprehend. You can't show empathy or compassion for atleast a ******* day? Hopefully you are not really this vile and you are just a troll trying to get the attention your parents never gave you in real life. And if I get banned for this tirade it was worth it. Educate yourself *******.

he has no filter

It's not about having a filter it's about being a decent human being.

Yeah, MY favorite.  MY opinion.  You probably think TJ is a dynamic personality.

oh here we go..

Let's not "go". If Nostalgic would like to respond feel free to private message me. But this thread should be used to pay respect to Dave and to express our condolences to his family.

RIP Dave Mirra. Great guy, great soul. I only wish nothing by the best for his wife, his daughters, and for the rest of his family & friends. The Challenge community has lost another soul. I hope he's up in heaven with a sweet bike shredding through them clouds.

I really wish TJ did an interview. With the lost of Diem, someone he very familiar with, Knight, and now a close friend, I wonder what his perspective is on life and how he sees the Challenge now.

So Sad,RIP Dave

I can completely understand what he was going though. This life shit & just being on this planet with all this insanity can get sooooooo ******* rough at times....you NEVER know what a person is dealing with on the inside. They can be the most outgoing, happy, ambitious, hilarious people on the outside but are suffering greatly on the inside. This world (especially the U.S.) is a ******* mental asylum and sometimes it just gets to be too much. I do wish he would have reconsidered because there is help out there, but at the same time depression/mental illnesses can literally take over your mind & have you thinking there really is no other option.

If you've gone through life with a pretty stable mind & are able to easily move on from a lot of the BS that happens, be grateful because you really have it good.

RIP.  Tragic, this sucks.  I saw the headline that 'BMX legend dies" and my brain instantly went to Mirra and the challenges.  I hoped it wouldn't be him.

Loved the 2 Inferno seasons he hosted, they were pretty unique from the other challenge seasons.  Dave represents a special time in Challenge history for me as a fan since he appeared with great characters (people), who many fans got to know really well through their storylines on RW and RR.   Loved the old shows, grew up with them and it's hard to imagine that he appeared 11 years ago.  Seems like yesterday.

God damn.  Prayers to his family.

So sad just saw someones tweet so came to vevmo, this is so sad.

Rip Dave Mirra

I wonder why he committed suiced? maybe money problems..

Money problems is no reason to commit suicide.

As for Kaujun's trifle *** since when does committing suicide make somebody a decent human being?

Let it be known I don't hate the fellow I just think he's a completely selfish person because its just not about him he had a family as well.

I never even said that so chill.

This is a shock to be sure.  Dave hosted seasons 8 and 10 of the Challenge - Inferno 1 and Inferno 2.  The first of those seasons in 2004 was the last time the cast was divided up into Real World and Road Rules teams.

Dave also appeared on an episode of Punk'd in 2003.

Already have reaction from TJ Lavin to TMZ:  "I just wish he would have called me. I would have jumped on a plane in a second. There's always another way. If anyone needs help, just please get it. I feel sick about  this."
