I think Maybe they asked him to chose so they could give him the opposite partner for him to really set in the rival, him picking v shows he probably wasn't interested in sylvia and camila so they gave him Camila for drama.

At least we know Thomas/Simone wasn't something weak like Nelson/Amanda. Or pairs that don't even hate each other anymore like Brandon/Briana.
The only real rivals I can see is Bananas/Sarah. .. Johnny/Jess and Ashley/Cory... that's it lol
