Why are people acting like a replacement has to be that person's rival? If that were the case, production would have to have a replacement on standby for literally everyone out there, all 26 in this season since you never know who is going to DQ. Replacements go through all the same testing as regular candidates. Not only would this be a huge waste of time and money, but there is a very solid chance they won't be able to find everyone a replacement (how many people has Jenna had beef with for example? Jamie supposedly only got into with KA on Bloodlines, if she were to DQ he would literally have no one else).
It makes much more sense, and is way more cost effective, for production to pick 2-3 men and women to have on standby as replacements regardless of whether or not they fit the theme.

As much as I really like Averey and want to see her on this season I personally feel like if your Rival goes home, you should go home too, unless they are capable of sending in a replacement who fits the theme. The whole point of the season is to work with a Rival. If your partner goes home, you should too.

I don't wanna complain because I know season 29 cast (if there's actually a season 29) will be worse. But this cast sucks and a lot. Now Averey probably getting a loser from ayto as a partner after being paired with the strongest dude on the cast, sucks even more.

I was told that must of them though it was going to be handle the same as Diem/CT last season and Heather/Dustin on exes 1 since both happened around the same time (3-4 episode) frame as Tony/Shane DQ. Even though both seasons had alternates, No replacements for either teams were brought in.
