lol

Someone went in on the facebook page today and it got 33 likes. The ratings this season would be even higher if they would show it at a decent time.

Jen Nicole(link is external) So #MTV(link is external).. who's BRILLIANT idea was it to have this air at 11. I have been watching #TheChallenge(link is external) for years and years! The shows always start at 9/10. (West Coast TIME)With it being over at midnight and myself having to be up at 4am for WORK I cannot enjoy it. Thanks. I Appriciate That! The ONLY SHOW I STILL WATCH on this lame channel and I CANT EVEN CATCH A RE RUN.. WTF!? BUT YET FANTASY FACTORY AND TEEN MOM IS PLAYED ALL DAY EVERY DAY...hundreds of times a day... like THAT MAKES A WHOLE LOT OF SENCE! NOT! Oh try the app. You say!? Been there done THAT. I can't even watch anything on there either. Cause I'm not the primary cable Bill payee. Gee thanks.

Ratings for episode 5:

Interesting, th echallenge did better than Real World for once.

I am sick of everyone complainng about the time. They moved the season up months and months so they could only choose from so many time slots. If it was not for this time the chance is the Challenge would still not be airing.

Dont get me wrong, I'm loving the fact that the challenge came so quickly and much earlier than anticipated, but the time plays a huge factor in the ratings. Tuesday is the only night I stay up past midnight, regularly; week to week, and that's because of the challenge. Usually at 11pm I'm catching the evening news and getting my puppy ready for bed.

If the challenge had waited to air, or snagged a 9pm time slot, the ratings would almost definitely be a bit better. Truthfully, being one of the longest running shows on the network, the Challenge should be getting precedence over these new shows that bring in ****** ratings and get canceled after one season. Of course, I understand that 8pm and 9pm are tough slots because of regular programs having dedicated viewers, but 11pm is taking more viewers away, in my opinion.

Am I glad the challenge aired early? Of course. Do I enjoy watching the Real World and then the Challenge back to back? Hell yeah. Would ratings have been better in another month in the 10pm timeslot? Could be.

Truthfully, I believe this challenge is the best one in a long time. I am one of the diehard viewers who enjoys every season. I've been watching ever since the first Battle of the Seasons and have never missed an episode. This season has been great and I truthfully think it's attracting more viewers than normal. I think this season would've brought in million viewed episodes numerous times had it been aired in another month of so.

Rant over Smile

Lol I want to see what Eye Candy's ratings are. All those promos for no reason since The Challenge is killing it even though it had poor promotion.

The challenge went down, Real World went up from last week. Episode 6 ratings:

What were yall saying about the Challenge being fine without Bananas and Nany?

It was still a good show without them regardless.

Wow I can't believe so many viewers stopped watching after Real World ended.

Im not saying it wasnt but the Challenge has focused so much airtime on their storylines that when they leave it impacts ratings.

People were watching to see CT/Diem and Knight. Now that that is over, the are dropping off.

Ratings really don't mean anything to me. I thought Exes 1 sucked and that got high ratings. Exes II is a million times better than the first season. I definitely see the challenge getting renewed because it's the highest rated show on MTV right now other than The Real World.

So many theories and excuses for why the ratings turn out the way they are. Does it make the show any worse or better if the ratings are low/high? What would be the excuse if the ratings go up again next week? Because that's likely to happen the way ratings have been fluctuating this season.

No. But some peope on here act like it does.

Ratings matte for the network, but as sad as this sound those are descent ratings for the network right now. Real World is their highest rated show right now, the challenge will go up like Real world has done. The time sloth also has to do with the ratings, plus MTV is so smart that they are not showing reruns for either show anymore.

Rating matter--no Johnny and we see the results.  I'm not a Johnny fan but you know he's loving these numbers

The numbers were not that great with him on it either, the 1st episode was low too...Free Agents at 10 with him on the entire season weren't great either.

Well yeah obviously they matter to the network. I was talking about the actual quality of the season itself. Some people here thinkg that if a certain season gets bad ratings that season in itself is bad. Seasons 2 is a good example. Some people though that season was bad just because it got bad ratings.(it was a damn good season, best in years IMO.)

MTV/BMP believe Bananas helps ratings--the numbers, IMO, seem to support that.  The casting has been awful IMO which is the bigger problem.  Of course the first episode was low--they don't promote it

I was expecting better number for the premier, even though MTV didnt went crazy to promoted it. It got a good amount of promotion over the two dead as horrible as that sound. I was expecting better number for the first episode and Diem last episode because that actually got good promotion not by MTV, but by magaziens and internet sites.

At this point I don think bananas break or make a season Free Agents was an example of that. Even though those are descent ratings for MTV, I doubt the lost of the 200k vies was over bananas leaving last episode, I think there are other factors such as the 11 PM time sloth and MTV ratings as a whole.

I wonder if having Darrell, Mark, Rachel, etc. back would really help the ratings?

I don't think so. The show is in a bind because the network is struggling badly. Until MTV can come back, The Challenge won't come back IMO.

The question is...how bad would Free Agents ratings have been without Johnny?

Listen, I'm not someone that thinks ANYONE should be on every challenge but JEK still has a fan base and i'm sure some of those people stopped watching with Johnny out.  Especially given how unlikeable the majority of this male cast is.  I mean, Reilly's probably the only likeable one and he didn't do himself any favors yesterday.  Leroy's likeable too but he doesn't really get a storyline

Nope. They wouldn't help at all IMO.
