I feel like I'm one of the only people rooting for Laurel, but I definitely am. Even though she's dating him, I don't find her to be half as cocky as Jordan. And even if she was, she has 3 2nd place finishes in a row compared to his one third place finish I think? I don't know, if I was Laurel, and I saw the rest of the girls in the house, I would find it hard not to be a little overly confident.
But with that said, I think it would have been fine of her to say she was trying to take out a player that she both doesn't like, and could possibly be a threat later. Why be sneaky about it?? That definitely makes it seem like she's playing it scared.
Poor Jordan was emasculated two times in a single episode, first by Jessica and then by Latoya. It seems to be a pattern for him and it all started with Nia on Portland.
Latoya didn't do so well this time but this is her first challenge and she will learn more. Nobody there would beat Cara Maria in a short distance foot race, not even Laurel. Cara can out sprint 95% of the other girls on these challenges and the only other female competitor that I can recall at the moment that could take Cara out in a straight sprint would be Chanda(based on her Fresh Meat statistics). Latoya knew she made a mistake by not turning it physical. It would have been closer if she did but she knows this for next time.
I like Brandon as a person but he is a positively mediocre competitor and tonight just showed us why. I was not expecting him to win, or to pull a CJ, but somewhat of a fight should have been expected. He got rocked by Derrick Kosinski who invoked a superior strategy despite being smaller. He witnessed first hand, Wes vs Eric and probably watched CJ thrash Zach up in something. The guy is a mediocre competitor because his abilities are average/above average and he lacks sense. You don't try to out wrestle someone who greatly outweighs you, especially when you're an experienced vet who has seen or been in multiple elimination rounds. Latoya gets a pass because she's a rookie that is still learning and because Cara's superior sprinting ability is not as apparent Zach's obviously larger bulldozer frame. A good competitor knows that if you can't out sprint or out muscle somebody, then you find a different way. Latoya will know next time and Brandon still doesn't.

I would just like to add that in an era in which people receive medals for participation 2nd and third looks like a victory but is still losing on my book. So neither Laurel nor Jordan should behave like Venus and Apollo, confident yes... cocky no
Laurel should be cocky, wouldn't you if your best friend and Camila were the only ones who could stand in your way in a final?
But Jordan shouldn't he's been underperforming aside from this last mission.
Before I watched the episode I saw some comments from this thread and everyone kept saying that it was a great one, but i felt like It was boring..
The challenge wasn't that great, I'm sure it was awesome to compete in it. Jessica flipping out on Jordan was whatever (I couldn't understand a word out of Jess).
I never liked Jordan on his Real World season nor on The Challenge and seeing him act so hard on an insecure delusional spoiled girl is pathetic, I though Jordan did decent on his first challenge but he is coming back like he is the king of the show...
Laurel dating him...ugh (smh)
The elimination round was horrible and predictable.
Overall a decent+ episode and I'm glad ratings went up and that people enjoyed watching it :)
Exactly! I loved him on Cutthroat! Since then, though, he's been kind of a non-factor.
Another thing about this episode, I love the fact that it's called "Inadequate". I was cracking up at Jessica's retorts to Jordan. She kept bringing up that damn log ("You're just mad cause you couldn't cross the log!") and I actually laughed out loud when she called him "inadequate".
I think he's just been **** out of luck. Battle of the Seasons he was paired up with Big Easy and was going to be tossed in every time no matter what. This season he went head to head in a hall brawl type elimination against the biggest and strongest guy in the house, Zach. If he got Isaac or Cohutta it would have been an interesting elimination. But once again this game is about how big your muscles are.
The reason why Brandon always gets the short end of the stick is because they don't consider him to be a top threat and also the fact that he has no alliances to anyone...EVER. Throw in Brandon or rookies and there are no consequences. Throw in a top dog like CT, Wes, Bananas, Zach, Leroy, etc you are not only going to have them gun for you, but you are also going to have their buddies gun for you too.
I definitely understand not throwing in Zach or Leroy, but I felt like it shouldn't have been Brandon. I just feel bad for the guy. He's still the go-to guy, despite this being his 5th challenge and only Isaac's 2nd and Cohutta's 3rd. I feel like all three guys are well-liked, good guys, and there wouldn't have been any consequences to worry about for voting for any of them - they all take things in stride - so why not throw in one of the others? Isaac, in particular, since he's still a rookie and he didn't do very well in the competition. I thought he was an easy choice for everyone.
Swift was pretty dumb, but props to him for admitting that.

I had been rooting for Laurel until the season started airing. It seemed like she had become much more humble, like she learned from the experience. However, now it looks like she much more cocky than ever before.
As for Jordan, he has absolutely no reason to be cocky. It's his second season, he got a third place last time. He might be good, but it's really nothing to brag about. He needs to chill.

Exactly! I prefer quiet confidence to cockiness, but at least she can back it up. She has been pretty dominating on these challenges. While she hasn't won a challenge, she makes it to the finals (3 for 3 second place finishes?) and she does well in the competitions and eliminations. Nobody carries her; she carries herself. I'm cheering for her because she deserves to win.

That's the thing, people keep saying this but I don't see how she's been cocky besides attempting to put Aneesa in. I think Jordan is the one making all these grandiose statements, Laurel is just being lumped in with him.

Me too, one of the many reasons Emily is one of my favorites. I really wonder how Laurel would be acting if she was on this challenge, especially since they're 'friends'.

He was paired with Cara Maria in his Seasons elimination and he still lost. It's not about luck, it's about him not being all that good. Sure if he got Cohutta who's smaller than him he'd have a better shot but that didn't happen so he had to do his best with what he had. And if that was his best(even against Zach) then that's pitiful.

Emily's gameplay is why I feel she's a better player overall compared to Laurel. Laurel sucks at the politics.
I feel like Jordan has a complex because of his lack of fingers that makes him feel deficient in comparison to everyone else, so he has to overcompensate for it by being really cocky. Kind of like a finger version of Short Man Syndrome.
Emily's gameplay is why I feel she's a better player overall compared to Laurel. Laurel sucks at the politics.
What has Emily done politically? On Rivals 2 Paula's politics and alliances is what helped her mostly and if she was with anyone else Paula would have probably tried to get rid of Emily since she's a threat just like Exes. I think Emily is only better than Laurel if they had to pick something up or possibly in something that involves brute strength other than that Laurel is a way better overall competitor.

Well, she hasn't done anything politically, that's where I'm trying to get at. Emily for the most part lays low and relies on just her athleticism and strength and she has a quiet confidence. Laurel has no competition on this challenge, she should just chill and not play such a scared and political game. The note pad incident on Rivals and the antics she pulled in this episode during deliberation was so weak of her, I'd expect that from a weaker player.

Rivals 2 was a 50/50 , yes paula had her alliances but emily was in a good position too. I'm sure that one of the reasons on why jordan and marlon didn't vote for them on the last jungle was because emily was/is super close with jordan.
Imo politically, Emily has better game than laurel, Emily is well liked by everyone, specially by the big players she stays low, doesn't get involved in drama and performs good, she basically let others take the hard decisions, while laurel has a big mouth and sometimes her decisions screw her game.
I totally agree with that, Laurel's game play is always kind of sloppy. This season it's like she realizes she's the top competitor but is still not realizing that she doesn't have to attempt 'power moves' as a result.
I don't know, she's always talking about how she hates politics so I would think she would try to play the game straight this time when she could. But I get her maybe getting paranoid about being thrown a curve ball in an elimination.
just now watching this, and I am SOOOO glad Latoya is gone...girl is completely ghetto! I could not stand her on St Thomas and cant stand her now...hope she never does another Challenge because she is pathetic to get smoked by someone like Cara Maria.

She's not ghetto, she's just beautiful sassy black woman.
Did anyone else notice that LaToya on the Aftershow said thirsty girls need to "quence" their thirst? Such a failed attempt to look intelligent and classy. Reminds me of Ex-Plosion Jenny telling Brian "you're talking irrationally".

Why pathetic? I would say Cara Maria is on the top 3 girls on free agents.
Why pathetic? I would say Cara Maria is on the top 3 girls on free agents.
Right but lez be honest was she ever really gonna have a shot against CM?
I feel if the elimination is not physical like wrestling physical she will lose and could still lose on those against a certain person.

Latoya didn't stand a chance against Cara. I know everyone likes to crap on Cara for not doing well on missions but she brings her A game to the eliminations.

The same, I mean Aneesa could take out Laurel in some of these elimination rounds and she's still confident.
Why pathetic? I would say Cara Maria on the top 3 girls on free agents.
How so? Maybe because I can't think of another girl, but so far Nany has a better claim to being a top 3 female up to this point, Laurel/Camila being #1 and 2.

How could Nany be better than Cara Maria? I just feel like Nany is for the most part vastly unproven while Cara Maria has done a lot on the shows to prove herself as a competitor.

Just going off her taking control in last week's mission and doing consistently solid. What has Cara done this challenge, besides going into two elimination rounds (which she went into because she didn't win). Didn't she pick her teams for those weeks, too?
I think tossing eliminations aside Nany has definitely been a better competitor this season. You couldn't really judge on the first challenge, Nany definitely did better than her on the second, she was one of the best 2 girls on the 3rd (with Laurel), and I thought she did better on this last one. She was more aggressive and strategic in how she went after Isaac. Cara running 1 on 1 against Bananas was dumb (though to be fair she wasn't the only one to do it).
Cara's obviously got eliminations on her...but on challenges alone I'd say Nany's been the best girl overall besides Laurel.
