I'm pretty sure in one of her recent People blogs, Diem said that she didn't play the game in the best way, and she regrets it (she feels she played it "scared", I suppose?). At least, unlike many other players, she has the ability to confront and deal with her flaws. :)
Re: the "cancer favoritism" angle:
Also, Diem has explicitly said that she never talked about her cancer in the house this season. Of course, as she said, it comes up in interviews because she's asked about it, so the edit makes it seem like it's top of mind.
I mean, in this episode alone, they were using footage from interviews that were clearly from earlier in the season. She hadn't worn a wig in forever, and yet they used footage from when she was wearing that blonde wig to go along with how she allegedly felt about the CT situation. She was probably responding to what happened between her and CT early on in the season, but the edit made it seem like she was talking about what was happening right before the last elimination.
It just seems foggy to me.
No, I'm not kidding. Clearly our experiences here have been different.
I'm not talking about just after the last couple of episodes and I'm not trying to excuse her behavior. If anything, the Diem negativity has only escalated since then. I never said the word "hating" either.
As for the 97%, that's referring Diem and Diem only. So, in my opinion/observation, 97% of comments I see regarding Diem are negative, and many are outright disrespectful. Obviously I haven't been here as long as some of you have, so maybe that gives you a frame of reference in where I'm coming from.
This quick to jump and respond thing has facts mixed up. I'm the one who said Diem Hate in response to skimthrough's observations.
It's an off reference to George Orwell's ten minutes of hate in his book 1984. I've referred to ten minutes of Diem Hate many times over the past few weeks. Much of the anti Diem sentiments (is that better hate?) appears before she says anything about her performance. Everyone has their opinions and is entitled to them. But "the anti Diem sentiments" are in most every thread after each episode. And then there are the personal attacks against posters, the ad hominem slings and arrows of which I am just as guilty of using ....
I don't think I would have joined the forum if it had not been for the anti Diem sentiments (ADS). I probably would have just lurked and read. Clearly, in addition to having a keep sense of humor, skimthrough is a bright person and a true fan of The Challenge and her 97% is just hyberbole, that wonderful figure of speech that lets you exaggerate something to create a strong impression. Surely you knew that.
As for Hate and JEK, are you talking show or vevmo poster? Hope it's the former and not the latter.
Skimthrough, you may be new on the board (as am I) but you make more sense and know more about the Challenges than most. And you're a good grammarian and speller, too!

Excellent book! And a fairly good representation of the forum's sentiments lately. :D (Unfortunately.)
I can't help but get all excited and worked up over a 1984 reference. *Hugs you*
Edit: But back on topic now. Ahem. *Straightens dress and combs hair*

Cue overcompensation* that's the feeling that I get here sometimes (not jut Diem specific, same can be said for Jonna etc...)
Don't get me wrong, there are certainly people out there who hate on certain individuals for no reason other then getting a sick pleasure out of it, but one cannot classify all negativity towards Diem as hate on her person, but more of a critique of her behaviour/reaction in/to a situation(which I believe is the case with the majority of the Vevmo commenters)
Let's have a look at it this way.... If someone, who is not familiar with the show, the people and their background, would have watched last weeks episode, chances are that Diem would have rubbed him the wrong way.
Is he hating now, though? He bears no previous knowledge of any kind and only goes by what he has seen(albeit we are talking about a grown-up with a fully developed critical mind)
--
on another note, I could delve into how strongly Diem's psyche was under influence by her post chemo drugs but I doubt it would be received positively here.
--
I stand by my previous comment that this was way too early for her to come back...

Lex, I love you and always will. You're super intelligent and awesome. But I'm just gonna go ahead and say that I don't think... Diem was tooooo terribly bad? On this most recent episode...?
*Goes and hides in a hole* :D
I just feel like Diem was responding in a pretty natural way to the things going on around her. Some moments were cringe-worthy, I'll grant everyone that, but I truly felt for her. And I think that even if I didn't know the history of everything going on with her, I still would have felt that way while viewing the episode. :( It kind of hurt to see her in that situation. It really did. :/

okay, sorry I get it after the second read; I though you meant that the 2 of them vs others

LexBlair, I think you are absolutely right about Diem coming back too early. In addition to the post chemo drugs, the other medications that she mentioned would have been sufficient to knock down the mentally strongest of any of us. And she had other things looming as well when she went back home (e.g., the egg harvesting, surgical menopause, loss of her fertility, all of which she's talked about in her people.com blogs).
But, as we've come to learn, that's Diem. She sets a goal and she will move heaven and earth to accomplish it. One of the reasons I am so supportive of her and her efforts w/MedGift is just that.
One of my besties was stationed in the Phillipines as part of her tour of duty w/ the US diplomatic corps. While I know that's not Thailand, I can tell you that the temperature and humidity wreaked havoc with her skin and her hormones. Can't imagine the heat/humidity in Thailand with limited a/c plus everything you and I pointed out about the drugs. Me, I'd be swinging from one of those trees!
I know you mean well with this posting; I hope you know that I do, too. We can agree to disagree and see you on the next one where our opinions intersect or mesh.

I never said it was tooo bad;), but like you said there were (in my opinion a lot of) cringe-worthy moments that would just rub someone the wrong way.... her snippy remarks and her facial expressions certainly did not help her case either IMO.... It also did not add up to the fact that it was completely her fault that she found herself in the Jungle to begin with...
and I don't think that was her "natural way" of reacting at all. She is somebody who understandably cherishes control over anything and the second it's slips out of her hand, she start spiraling down a not very pretty route and it's just makes her a neurotic mess with all her "flaws" highlighted...

I've been an Aneesa fan since The Duel. I think she is wise beyond her years. I did like in this episode when she made it clear that she was not going to allow people to gang up on her partner. I know that's not about her physical appearance but I just wanted to add that.

Great addition! Aneesa, through all of the challenges that I've watched, clearly values loyalty and is loyal to a fault. I did appreciate her jumping in and defending Diem, too!

I agree, she seems like a classy, real person too (and I don't think she is a producer favorite/ someone who they give a good edit. I think its how she really is)
Did it surprise anyone else when they all called her the trashiest person in the house? Though the past few Real Worlds have been full of superficial idiots who would judge people by things like their occupation and tattoos, I still was taken a back.
I can't believe that on a challenge with people like Jemmye, Jonna, Theresa, and Paula , those dudes thought Aneesa was the trashiest

Aneesa is (or was) a stripper after all so not that surprising. I've always liked Aneesa but I doubt she was even phased by being chosen as "trashy"
I think Aneesa has probably heard it all already since she is/was a stripper. She seems to have a confidence in herself and doesn't let others really phase her when it comes to her occupation.
Aneesa is (or was) a stripper after all so not that surprising. I've always liked Aneesa but I doubt she was even phased by being chosen as "trashy"
Agreed.
But unlike you, I'm not an Aneesa fan. I don't really like her personality.
However, I do appreciate her standing up for Diem and having some sense of loyalty. Beyond that, I don't care for her. It might sound harsh, but I pretty much begin with liking everyone, until I have a reason not to. Aneesa just rubs me the wrong way and always has.
Agreed.

If she has always rubbed you the wrong way, then you didn't start out liking her ...
Personally, I didn't like Aneesa either until this challenge.

I was shaking my head, too. Then someone said it was her mouth and I took that to mean she cursed a lot.

I don't think it is harsh at all--you either like someone or don't. I just feel like Aneesa's always "meant well" and tends to be "an underdog" on these challenges. She finally gets a partner that would prevent her from seeing an elimination round and Diem panics causing them to finish last. Has to be frustrating for her.
Diem has a friend in production at BRAVO. She and some corporate people from MTV were at their studio tonight for the taping of Andy Cohen's show, Watch What Happens, Live. The guests were, in seating order if I recall correctly, CT, Beth, Danny, Ruthie, Paula. Johnny Mosley was the bartender. Lots of pics were taken after the show inside and outside of the studio, including some of Diem and CT. I'm sure some people would make some story out of a pic of Andy and CT or CT and Danny.
BTW, they were all ushered out of the studio rather quickly because of Andy's live interview tonight with Lady Gaga.
I have to question you about this whole thing.
1. Isn't Watch What Happens Live usually live or pre-recorded the same day that it airs? Why would they record this an entire week in advance? And why would they only ask for fan questions one day before the pre-recording?
2. No one is making "some story" about the photo of CT and Diem that he posted the night True Colors aired. Are you saying that the photo was taken that night? Because I don't see how that could be the case if CT was wearing the same outfit when this photo was posted and when this fan spotted CT and Diem getting into a cab together two nights prior.

I don't know how it usually works for WHHL. It's not a show for which I know production details. They actually asked for questions on facebook a couple of days before and between the original post and subsequent clarification that "Danny" was from NOLA and not Austin, there were some 800 comments and questions for the producers to work through. Several from facebook were asked according to Beth, whom you may not know has been my business partner in LA for a decade. As for why they would record it a week in advance, I have no idea, and if you're attempting to make a point, it's lost on me. I'm just the reporter here.
As for #2, I have no idea when any photo was taken other than the one sent to me of Beth and Andy. I only know other pics were taken both inside and outside the studio, some with Andy and some with the other cast.

Yeah, I really do sympathize with her during this episode, for probably the first time ever. I still think the fight with Trishelle was kind of ridiculous. Trishelle was so drunk and inarticulate that Aneesa should have just let the girl continue making herself look stupid. :P

No I wasn't trying to make you feel stupid; no need to get so defensive. To me what you said meant that you started liking out everyone ... except Aneesa. Just wanted to know why she was an exception.
