The Real World: Portland

How sad if this is indeed the final season of the Real World. Can't say that it would necessarily be surprising, but I always imagined that TRW would never get canceled no matter how bad the ratings were. Even though the last handful of seasons weren't exactly exciting or anything special, I feel like TRW has been a staple on television since I was a kid. It was always there. The idea that this season will be the last is strange, to say the least.

Even though the past two seasons of the Real World have been terrible and I should have quit watching after I graduated high school I will be sad to see it end.
Oh F that! Get rid of Survivor, ANTM and those other shows first. Not my REAL WORLD no matter how past its prime it is.
Even though the show isn't as good as it was during past seasons I would be sad if it ended. I've been watching it for so many years now it would be weird if it no longer came on.
I will be so sad if this is really true. I love the real world and have been watching it for so long. It is my favorite TV show and it can't end. :( :( :( Not all seasons have been bad lately and I hoped one day when I got older I could be on it. Haha (Doubt I'd ever make it) But it can't end. This season better go out being good then. I wonder what that means for the challenges ?
Maye shes just saying that because she knows it's the last one on contract...or maybe they actually told the cast that this is the final season. Idk. During the casting calls, the casting director said something along the lines of "We need this season to be a bang so we can get a 29 and 30th season." Which makes me think there might be hope..?
10 Old Shows That Still Kick *** | Inside TV | EW.com MTV's Press Department retweeted this. It mentions talks of renewal
Honestly if they get rid of RW then eventually challenges will stop too cause you can't keep using fresh meat 3, 4, 5, etc to get new cas members for that. And a casting director for MTV clearly stated real world casting is on HIATUS and will let us know when they start casting again. So I'm sure nia is only saying that cause she knows its the last on contract as of now. Plus saying its the last one the way she did makes it seem like its great so she's nonchalantly trying to increase the amount of people who should watch it so the ratings are high.
Didn't they tell the cast of Gauntlet 3 it was the last challenge? Maybe they told this cast that as well to hopefully elicit some more drama out of them.
I can't help but to think that this will not be the final season. I believe they will go out with a bang like a RW All-Star type of season, not RW Portland lol.

Plus, I would be sooooo pissed off if the last season didn't get as much hype as JS did with all of those cheesy "the last season EVER" commercials. It only seems logical to me that the contract is renewed to season 30 then ends.

Ratings will probably be a huge factor.

If this was the last season, all of the casting directors wouldn't be on twitter telling people thins like "We'll start casting soon" and giving RW tips/advice. I think they would be straight forward and say "Portland will be the final season"
Actually it wouldn't make logical sense to cancel TRW. It, Teen Mom 2 and Awkward are the only shows it has left that it knows can pull in the ratings, and the latter two have been on a steady decline. Now that Jersey Shore is over (which is pretty much TRW with a twist) hopefully they will be able to pull back some viewers that swapped TRW for Jersey Shore. Then again MTV might just be planning to cancel everything and start fresh with a new line up of shows.

That would be so disrespectful to BMP. This series paved the way to all reality shows.
Nia just tweeted that their season air in January. Since both the Wednesday AND Thursday 10 pm slots are taken, I'm assuming its goig to be a new night & time for this season, just like with BGC
Nia keeps saying that, but we haven't seen one promo; not even a commercial for the sneak peek preview. The casting directors say it'll air in February..I think everyone is just on different pages.
Marlon also tweeted something along the lines of "get ready for January" and tweeted at his fellow cast mates. Or something like that... So who knows really, other than BMP themselves. Nia also claims she is the reason for the season and that she basically brought a ton of drama to the final season.
This is so strange. Teen Mom 2 currently airs on Mondays at 10, and I think the season is about 7 episodes in, and usually gets about 12 episodes per season. So that's roughly around 5 weeks left. Snooki & Jwoww begins Tuesdays at 10 starting on January 8, so that's out of the question. Washington Heights starts Wednesdays at 10 on January 9, so that's also a no. And Buckwild is taking Jersey Shore's spot on Thursdays at 10 starting on January 3. If Nia and Marlon are correct, the only possible day for Portland to come on will be Mondays when Teen Mom 2 finishes its season. Catfish also airs at 11, but i'm not sure when it will be finished.

If Nia is as big a role as she claims i wonder if she'll be featured in the initial promo.
Could do Fridays at 10 or something but that would make ratings even worse probably cause everyone goes out on Fridays.
Anastasia straight up said that they have no idea what's going on. I think Marlon is just assuming the show airs in Jan because the trailer is airing Jan 1st. It only seems logical that the show starts in Febuary; that would give them time to run promos in Jan right after the trailer airs.

Snooki & Jwoww is switching to a half-hour format, so there's also the unlikely possibility Portland airs Tuesdays at 10:30.
Can't say I would be surprised if this was the final season. Also Portland will end around the 21st anniversary so that would be cute if they did a special reunion show.
This so much
