As soon as they opened it up, it was clear to me he left it there to be found. I could be wrong, but it seems like that was his move to get attention once he saw he was on the outs with the "love of his life."
That aside, I respect that the roommates are taking it seriously and are not as cynical as us reality tv fans.
That or one of the on-site people decided to place it in plain site for anyone who walks by to easily notice it.
I mean stuff like that has happened before, right?

On afterbuzztv, Leroy and Adam Royer said that production would never do that. He either mistakenly left it there because he was drunk, or he intentionally left it there for attention.
If the Kill me page was left open then it was definitely a set up.
Anyway I thoroughly enjoyed this first episode. Can't wait to see them leave the house.
Also, it appears we have some fine challenge specimens in this season.
I don't think the book was left open to that page in particular, from what I remember the book was just laying there, closed, and they opened it and peeped through.
I knew this cast was going to be awesome.
Trey- He is attractive; reminds me of Johnny Bananas and a mix of Brad from San Diego.
Laura- She seems like a sweetheart
LaToya- I thought she would be the boring one when we first learned the cast but I absolutely love her. She seems like she is going to be hilarious.
Marie- She can party and I love it. I see her getting into some fights because she is not afraid to say anything.
Robb- Seems pretty cool.
Swift- I don't really know if I'm going to like him or not yet.
Brandon- Part of me felt bad but then part of me thought he was annoying. I thought him getting jealous over Trey and Laura was way too soon and dumb.

On Season 1 production admittedly placed a picture book that had nude photos of Eric on the coffee table to create drama. The cast apparently became so mad at production when they found out they had put it there that production vowed they would never do that again.
Well maybe they didn't flat out put it on the table, but what about pointing it out like "Oh Trey, what's that book sitting on the table?"
I think production is very manipulative but I doubt that they would do that and if some local crew interfered as a renegade act I imagine they would be fired on the spot.

I think less should be noted about production and more about a guy who writes stuff like that in a diary in large crazy lettering and leaves it on a table.
First of all, who the heck has a paper diary these days? Who then fills it out with, "I WANT TO DIE" and then leaves it in the middle of a reality television shoot on day 1?
Just my take.

I think it is not unusual for recovering addicts to be encouraged to journal their emotions. The guy is needy but I don't really think that particular incident was peculiar really. I would have looked at it if I were there and I would have told him I did and why and asked him about it.
I really liked the premiere. It was just a fun episode.
My thoughts on the cast:
Trey: I liked him. He seemed like a genuinely nice guy, and I hope that he and Toya continue to be friendly and become sort of an unlikely friendship haha. I did have to laugh though when he was talking to Brandon and was like "Yeah I was my prom king, and captain of the football team, etc. etc." It was like his way of comforting him by subtly, unintentionally, bragging haha.
Robb: Again, I really liked him. To be honest I feel like there isn't that much to say yet, but I think he'll be interesting and funny. LOVED the peanut butter prank idea. Also love that they had that many things of peanut butter, because that's how my house at school was.
Swift: He seems kind of cocky, but he didn't bother me. Something about the way he talks did though. I can't explain it, something with his mouth..
Brandon: The outsider. I thought he was kind of weird and out-there. But I actually found myself feeling bad for him sometimes, but then he would go off on a Laura tangent and I wouldn't feel bad anymore. Also, he seems kind of attention-starved. I feel like he became the outsider because he expected himself to be the outsider, if that makes sense.
Laura: She seems like a sweetheart. I really liked her. I'm just nervous that the whole Trey/Brandon/Laura thing may get annoying after awhile. But if she keeps up her good attitude, I think I'll really like her.
Marie: I really liked her, too. She just seems like a fun girl to be around. Her voice/accent may get annoying to me after awhile though. I LOLed at her apologizing to Robb's sister so much.
LaToya: My favorite. I don't know what it is, but she just kills me. She has so much personality! I hope she keeps up her bubbly side and stays as fun as she is right now.
I really love catnip. I am soooo buzzed! But I hate, hate, hate that you have taken my favorite box in the world that you got from Amazon last week and replaced it with this other box from Amazon that has a totally different smell. Also, you don't pet me as much as I want and I saw you petting that other cat...

A cat will steal your breath while you sleep but would never commit suicide. There are only two types of cats in this world--those who have killed their owner and those who are going to kill their owner. Dogs rule!:thank_you2:
So is there an episode next week or no?
I'd love to hear your thought process as to why a series that premiered this week would not have an episode next week.
Anyway, "St. Thomas: 99 Problems but the Beach Ain't One" will air at the same Bat-time, same Bat-channel.
I think it is too soon to tell how much of Brandon's character on the show is for attention, and how much of it is actually his real personality.
We do know, however, that he's not above lying about his hometown to gain sympathy points. I'm getting a very heavy Royer vibe from him already, and I already had it before the episode aired. The journal thing seems reminiscent of what a teenager would do to get their parents to notice them.

Ratings will more than likely drop next week, I was thinking they would take a break too.

They picked the premiere date knowing that the next week would be the 4th. I'm not sure what that says, but they must have faith in the strategy.

Yeah that surprised me... a lot of people are going out of town then. And they also are doing a repeat of Teen Mom on the 3rd but a new episode for RW on the 4th. Like, that doesn't even make sense.
I liked this season, it was pretty good. I think I need to stop comparing every season to Las Vegas 2 because I just don't think any of the newer seasons will be able to top that season.
Brandon is... interesting. He kind of reminds me of Frank with the obsessing over a girl.
I don't really have a favorite cast member, but so far everyone seems cool. Hopefully this is a good season.
How refreshing not to be force-fed a Subway commercial during the premiere! Love this location. Looking forward to this season, and LaToya is my current favorite cast member.
Robb and LaToya are my current favorites in the house , Marie seems like a good time and Brandon really interesting. I gonna have a love-hate Trey because he was cool till towards the end of the premiere. As of the right now ,Laura and Swift annoy me. Overall looks like a good season
This has to be the first season in awhile where the roommates don't leave their house on the first night to go out and party or at least get dinner or something. The entire episode (minus the part where they didn't actually arrive yet) focused on them in the house. Obviously, they still partied it up and what not in the house. Just something I noticed. I'm assuming that if they want to go out to any bars or clubs, they have to take a boat across the water?
As for my thoughts on the episode, I liked it. Good start.
On Brandon...if he really is in recovery and wants to stay clean, isn't he kind of walking on thin ice? He says he needs to stay away from hard liquor, because it makes him want to go on a binger...but then he just pounds some beers instead? I understand the situation he's in...a reality TV show full of seven 20-somethings ready to party and live it up for 3 months...it would seem almost impossible that he could go all season staying away from any type of alcohol. But when you're truly in recovery, even if he never had a problem with the booze, aren't you better off staying away from EVERYTHING, not just selecting which drugs you should avoid? I know the majority of people don't see anything wrong with having a good time and having some drinks, but in that situation, it can only take a couple of beers to set off your trigger. I mean, all it takes is for him to be feeling pretty good in a bar, maybe get offered a bump of something, and just like that, 6 months of "sobriety" is down the drain for him. I'm curious as to what he alludes to in the preview for this season that they showed after the episode last night, when he says something along the lines of "I haven't been as clean as people think I've been". Judging from him drinking on the first night there, that doesn't surprise me at all.
I watched the premiere and it was alright...little bit on the fun side of things. But this should be a decent season.
So far I like everyone. Nobody seems unlikable..but this is the first episode so that's more than likely going to change.
Brandon-I like Brandon but I didn't like him obsessing over Erica(she's way out of his league IMO) and his jealousy towards Trey.
And I really don't think that they should have been reading Brandon's Journal. I mean yeah he left it in plain sight but it doesn't make it okay for anyone to read it. It's his PERSONAL journal after all.
Overall I think this is going to be a solid season. I don't think anything to crazy will happen but who knows..this cast may surprise us.

You mean Laura? ;)
Whenever I hear stories of addiction all it does is make me cry, so when I see stuff like this on RW, I don't really like it because I watch this show as a distraction.

I think that this is where Real World has gone off the cliff. They used to feature stories of people who were improving their lives and moving beyond stuff like that. Now they seem to cast people who they think will fall off the wagon and foster an atmosphere to make that happen on camera IMO.
