Market size is overrated unless you are talking about LA or New York. The NBA markets itself around the star players and Kevin Durant is a big star. He will bring in the ratings regardless of who they play in the Finals, if they make it there.
A couple of observations from the Celtics/Sixers game. 1. The officials have allowed both teams to play physical, which has been fun to watch. 2. The camera keeps panning over to an older Sixers fan with a sweet stache similar to that of Gerald McRaney during the Major Dad years.

Sometimes they would call touch fouls and other times they wouldn't call muggings. It was inconsistent to both sides though. The Celtics in the 2nd half is why I don't trust them. They were so good in the 1st half (and Philly was terrible) but in the 2nd half, they miss open shots and stop playing defense.

The Celtics were an absolute mess in the second half. I'm sure Stephen A. changed his tune after the game.

This way we get drama. My hope is someone in the media call out Garnett.
Can we all agree that whoever wins the OKC-SA series is going to win the title? Philly and Boston are just awful on offense while Indiana and Miami are too flawed.

The Celtics will win game 7 and the best team from the east, be it the Celtics or the Heat - will win the title. (Although if it is not the Celtics I would prefer anyone but the Heat.)

JR Smith took his talents to South Beach...and got arrested. New York Knicks' J.R. Smith arrested in Miami, bonded out - ESPN New York
Time to bring on the Heat!
Hoping the C's can get at least one win so I can see Game 5 live. =P
Hoping the C's can get at least one win so I can see Game 5 live. =P
One win? I'm thinking four. :D
Uh sorry but I have a feeling Miami will be in the Finals. If you lose a game where Rondo scores 44 I just don't think there's much hope left. No one wants to talk about the Spurs but it's quite possible they could win it all giving Duncan five titles. If he's not in the "pantheon" already this would clinch it. He would be the most under-the-radar Top 5 player ever.
I think that whoever comes out of the West (probably San Antonio) will win the NBA title, provided that they don't lose a key player.
If the Spurs win the title, it won't have anything but a minute impact on his legacy in my eyes. It would have a major impact though for the legacies of Tony Parker, Gregg Popovich, and RC Buford. Being the 3rd best player on a title winning team, when you were already the best player for 4 championship teams, is a very small accomplishment.
I really thought the officials would afford the Celtics a little more respect. It appears to be another 8 on 5 series for Miami. The NBA clearly wants their superstars in the Finals. I'm also not shocked the Hornets snagged the first overall pick.

The Celtics got called for more fouls because they fouled more often.
Other than the Rondo no-call toward the end of regulation, can you name any other bad calls in the game? Even Jordan never averaged less than two fouls per game. He is a diehard Celts fan, but he was convinced that Wade, James, and Battier were reffed completely differently and that it's ironic because they are three of the most aggressive players in the league.
The problem with Simmons is that he is a Boston homer. Here are the views of another ESPN member, that is not a Boston homer (a Wolves fan), without the bias. The piece that he is referring to in the 2nd tweet (by a Warriors fan): Enough about LeBron and his fouls « HoopSpeak.com
No matter what happens hence forth, I name Rondo - The Magician.
The problem with Simmons is that he is a Boston homer. If it is tweeted it is the most important thing ever said and absolutely true.
The Celtics had a good performance tonight. I wasn't sure if they were going to pack it in and quit because they couldn't win despite Rondo's monster performance or come out strong because they knew they had a shot to beat the Heat. They should have won by about 20 but they decided to let Mike Miller hit 3 open 3s in the 4th quarter and bring the Heat back within striking distance before holding them off.
No matter what happens going forward, the Celtics have their cornerstone for the future... As much as I hate to say this as a life long Celtics fan and as much as I will be ribbed for attempting to make the comparison - that was pure Magic.
All tied up.
That game got ugly in the 2nd half and OT. There were a total of 6 points scored in OT. Rondo scored 12 OT points in Game 2, double the total OT points scored tonight. Home teams are 8-0 in the Conference Finals thus far.
I'm not REALLY a fan of either of these TEAMS (Boston and Miami) but I am a fan of Rajon Rondo (Since he played for my favorite college basketball team and my Alma mater, UK) so therefore I'm rooting for Boston. Go Boston !! I couldn't care less who comes out of the West...I do like watching Durant (He's a real talent) play though.
Home teams are 8-0 in the Conference Finals thus far.
That's about to change. The C's outplayed the Heat in game 2 and ever since. Not to mention Lebron "please don't make me shoot the final shot" James is showing why he is no Kobe, or Ray Allen/Garnett/Rondo/Pierce for that matter.
I really think that the Heat have a good shot at going 12-0 in the first 3 rounds of the playoffs

Interesting fact: LeChoke was whistled for more fouls this game than his entire last series against the Pacers.
I was SHOCKED that Lebron fouled out. I thought there was a pretty universal rule among the refs that Lebron isn't allowed to get more than 4 in a game. Maybe it was just the league making it up to the Celtics for how poorly officiated the first two games were.

The foul disparity was due to the play styles. The officiating was bad last night, but it was consistently bad against both teams. The flopping is ridiculous to watch. If a player falls down, it doesn't mean a foul occurred. I also can't stand the kick ball violations that are called when there is no kick. If the ball hits a player's foot, it doesn't mean that it is a kick ball. A player has to actually kick his foot at the ball for it to be a kick ball violation.
