Hasn't yet lost. The performance just highlighted what a young voice Jessica is compared to Jennifer Holiday. She was totally overshadowed.
Umm everyone is freaking out on Twitter!! Jessica KILLED it! Her and Jennifer Holiday made the night imo.

Even if Jessica lost to Phillip, she showed tonight who should have been the clear winner! Jessica Idol 2011!
Also, I'd like to say how much Phillip and Jessica's voices clash. What a horrible ending to the show.
At least the right person won ;)

Ha. If Producer had just voted 3 more times Jessica would have won but I tricked him....
Ha. If Producer had just voted 3 more times Jessica would have won but I tricked him....
I never told anyone that I voted 3 times online. So that's a few more producer didn't know about!

I am glad he became too emotional to sing. Makes me thinks he deserves it. Always questioned people who could sing right after getting booted or winning.

Seriously all minorities and females don't even audition, this is a white male competition.
Someone is very bitter...
I'm not, I'm a little sad that Idol isn't what it use to be. What happen to the American dream? Everyone is equal? Sad that my favorite show has died now, because a white male with a guitar will win, no matter how talented the others are.

I saw this coming from a mile away, and I didn't even watch this season. Still, it'll be interesting to see if he can maintain a career outside of the show.

Any smart girl on this show would push the "girl power" angle. That's the only way she'll win. This season reminded me of season 5, which is my favorite season. It had a lot of good people, but a completely boring final 3. We should be talking about how happy/unhappy we are that Colton won right now, but oh well...

It should have been anyone from the final 7 in the final two, except the two that it was.

While the deck is stacked against African-American women IMO who never gets better than an "as expected" from the judges when they kill a song, it is America who votes and America isn't as white as it once was. White Guys with Guitars have been eliminated in this show many times too.
He is a probably going to be a flop like the other wgwg
None of them are flops. They are still known names and they still make music. If they are making any money on it, they are probably still doing well.

I would've been pleased with any of the other 5 winning. IMO, the final 2 were the 2 with probably the least potential to have a successful career outside of the show. On another note, J.Lo has GOT TO GO. I really may not watch next year if she comes back. I can't stomach her.

If he has to have surgery, I expect that he will not be shooting to the top of the charts, but getting time to reflect before being fed to the sharks may not be a bad thing.

Season 9 had 2 of them and both made it to the Top 3. Ratings are going down each year, and the people that stay are probably people who prefer white male singers. It's a reason Joshua, a black male, was the first to make the Top 3 since Ruben! It's sad that By auditions I will know the winner of the show the minute he steps on the stage!

Phillip reminds so much of actor Josh Lucus you would think they were family. That familiar feeling may have been an advantage for him.

Haley (last year 3rd place) is project to make the same amount this week. It's sad that WINNER can't sell more than a 3rd place finisher. 3/4 WGWG are MAJOR flops it's sad that out of 6 male winners (7 now) they totaled sales of 7 million and 4 female winners sold 30 million. Don't say they aren't flops when they clearly are! Phillip will most likely follow trend, and be forgotten for the next white guy with guitar next season.

The show isn't nearly as big as it once was. People don't talk about it much and it isn't all over the TV/morning shows/entertainment shows nearly as much as it was before WGWG were winning. Post-hoc ergo propter hoc

I think the only American Idol winner we can officially declare a flop is Taylor Hicks. Actually, add Lee DeWyze to that list. I guarantee you the average person could not name one of his songs.

White guy with guitar wgwg5 both trending topic on twitter lmaoo....a little too late to notice that America.

Post-hoc ergo propter hoc
That would be a good argument.. except POST HOC ERGO PROPTER HOC is a fallacy. That means you can argue its happening because of that.. but it's false. Just because it's happening doesn't mean prior events have caused it. That argument is not sound. Personally, I voted for Heejun. <3

I've never seen someone complain so much about a show. Just because someone is dropped by their label, doesn't make them a flop. They still have fans. In my opinion, someone who still has fans and is making still decent money, is not a flop. They are doing better than over a million other singer/songwriters out there. On a sidenote, I'm sure Jessica will be that same person in a few years.
I think the only American Idol winner we can officially declare a flop is Taylor Hicks.
