The peak of the finale was when Lexie died. The rest was a wash. What a waste of one of my favorite characters. It was emotional, yet sad and empty. A ratings ploy. The rest of the episode was muddled at best. It was slow and going nowhere. The season ended with nothing being resolved while at the same time offering nothing I care about going forward.
I can already write the first episode next fall...
They are all about to die. They are saved at the last second with heroics along the way. They all live.
I am going to agree with yankeegurl. This was one of the worst finales for the show in its run. Especially disappointing being how good this season was leading up to the finale.
Meh
I used to be a HUGE Grey's fan but lost interest after season 6. The show is just not what it used to be and it is upsetting because it used to be very well written. Now I feel like they are just throwing a whole bunch of unrealistic storylines to keep our attention.
I stopped watching after the hospital shooting, although I was hanging on for dear life during those last two episodes. That was season 6, right?
I'm not sure why I lost interest. All of my favorite characters are still there (and the ones I didn't like left) but I guess I just got bored.

Yes that was season 6 and those were the last two episodes I watched as well. I tuned into tonight's episode due to all the hype it was getting but was very very disappointed. I really hope that this next season coming up is it's last so it can be put out of it's misery.
Just finished watching with the wife. I feel like ABC might have ruined this one for me by announcing some of the more relevant cast signings for next season a couple weeks ago. I felt emotionally detached from this episode, and I was hoping to a little more emotional interaction between Mark/Meredith and Lexie. It seemed like Lexie died, and nothing else really seemed to happen after that. I actually wish they would have drawn her death out a little bit.
I don't really know why I loved it tonight, but I did. Guess I'm just going to continue to disagree with all of you.
Overall, I thought this season was better than the last one.

It's our job, to slowly but surely suck every last bit of enjoyment you had with the finale - out of you. We will break it down piece by piece and help you to reconstruct your memory so that you hate, hate hate this season ending disappointment.
That's what internet forums are for! :D

I'm not saying it's the worst season finale of Grey's, but I know it's not the best. That's where I stand! Hopefully I won't change my mind ;)
Also, can someone please teach Ellen Pompeo how to properly cry? I was cringing the whole time Meredith was sobbing.
I can agree with you here. She's never been that great at it.

While we are on this subject, couldn't Shonda have killed off Meredith instead of Lexie? That would have been a series upgrade.
I agree with Treetrunk with the contracts part. Once I knew who was safe, it left me detached.

I knew who it wasn't too. The one person I didn't want it to be, it was. I was really hoping it would be Arizona.
And on a similar sidenote, the opening scene reminded me so much of Lost.

I was watching it on the treadmill at the gym...I rarely watch the show so this is an anomaly. I stopped watching halfway through, a little bit after Lexie died. So I didnt miss alot?

I'm convinced Meredith Grey will never die at this point. She has survived a bomb explosion, drowning, a shooting incident and now a plane crash? Lol it's kind of funny when you really think about it.

That's Hollywood for you.

Teddy got fired, but other than that you missed pretty much nothing.

She's a zombie. Before I get into my joke about her figuratively being a zombie I will add: she's a zombie.
Crowbar to the head might work or maybe a wood chipper?

did they ever like, find out about the plane crash back at the hospital?
did they ever like, find out about the plane crash back at the hospital?
The only thing it ever showed was Owen listening to his messages at the very end of the episode. He had multiple messages from the other hospital saying the doctors hadn't arrived yet.
So the penultimate episode of season 6 is on right now, and Meredith just told Christina she is going to be godmother. Christina asked what her duties included and Meredith told her she would take care of the baby if she died. Christina then said something to the effect of "so if you and Derek die in a plane crash I get the kid?"
If only.
I haven't seen any of this show in a few years (i thought they cancelled in a couple years ago), but have to ask--how and why did Lexi die?
Lexie died in a plane crash that most of the doctors were passengers on the most recent season finale. She was caught under a heavy piece of the plane.

I hope she comes back as an evil ghost. That'd spice things up on that show. :new_shocked:

I just wish it was someone else that had gotten the axe and not Lexie.
I just wish it was someone else that had gotten the axe and not Lexie.
They should have kept her and killed off Meredith so they could still call it "Grey's Anatomy". The older Grey sister has always been the most boring downer of a lead character on network TV IMO.

Yeah, that's true and would have been nice, but I doubt they'll ever kill of Meredith. I wish it would have been Arizona, Owen, or even April. Half the characters I want gone didn't even get on the plane. Super frustrating.
I'm currently re-watching the series from the beginning and I just finished season two. I forgot how great this show used to be.
I also did that and then stopped at Season 6 where the show turned to ****.
Gotta say, the premiere made up for the ****ty finale. Definitely one of the best premieres and one of my favorite episodes. It was done perfectly, a great homage to my favorite character.

It's a good episode in my book if it makes me shed more than a few tears. I really liked it.
