Also, I don't watch Glee, and though I was in choir throughout high school and college, I'm not a musical fanatic. I think it was meant to be somewhat campy, and so it was. I (really) don't think it will ever happen again.
See, I'm a huge musical fan, but this just wasn't good :D I just think they could have done a better job with it and I really hope it doesn't happen again.
Sure it's a big change, but it's just for fun
They completely changed the format of the show, so in my opinion it wasn't very fun. Actually, it wasn't even the same show. It was some different show with Grey's Anatomy characters and a similar plot, filled with cringe worthy moments. If they were dead set on doing a ridiculous episode like this, I'd have much preferred it to have been in the fall with a "who gives a ****" plot. Instead they literally take what could have been the most dramatic episode of the year, with a main character hanging on for her life and make it into a joke. Turning an episode of the medical drama Grey's Anatomy into a musical is akin to doing an experimental episode of Glee where all the characters just played golf for an hour... Sure, some people would think it was awesome, but it would betray the formula which has made Glee a success with its audience. Grey's betrayed their formula at a pivotal moment in the season and it might be terminal (at least with me.) After last season's finale I pretty much knew they would never be able to top it. I don't want to say that it's going down the drain, but it kind of is. Everyone is having babies/adopting children and I don't feel like watching baby central. I will probably continue in the fall, but if it gets anymore musical or if they add a couple more babies, I'm done.

I guess that would explain all the random s*** coming out of left field.

What did everyone think of the premiere? I thought it was a fine start to the season. It seems to me they are getting back to what made this show fun while mixing in some excellent drama and heart wrenching moments (while avoiding too many cheesy asides/ musical numbers.) I even felt bad for Mer...for just a minute (although I'm not sure why being she was basically off the reservation in "abducting" Zola.) I don't have a good feeling about April as Chief resident. She seemingly has zero social or management skills (which are required for the job) - but I guess I'll roll with it for now as my this series arc will have her rise to the occasion. Overall, a fine start; an enjoyable couple of hours.

I first thought I was watching the wrong show when that couple at the beginning was arguing. I had to double check my Dish guide. I thought overall it was a great start to the season. I think I would have been satisfied with any episode as long as none of the characters were singing. I don't really like the entire Derek/Mer fighting sequences because I want them to be happy, but Mer definitely went a tad psycho after taking Zola. April as Chief resident, in my opinion, was a horrible decision to begin with. I feel that Alex or Cristina would have been a better option. My favorite part was when Cristina basically stabbed Alex with the epi shot. I know she didn't mean to do it intentionally, but I feel as if it was a side of Cristina we don't normally see (making mistakes). I'm just glad at this point she's not going off the deep end like last season. I'm seriously still waiting for her and Owen to be done with. Very good start to hopefully a better season than last.
Don't read on if you haven't seen the episode...What a fantastic episode tonight. It made me cry, so I'm assuming it did its job as a tearjerker. I kind of saw that death coming, but the way it happened was heartbreaking. I've never really liked Teddy, but I feel so bad for her and how Owen had to lie to her while she was in surgery. On a side note, I really really hate how they make us wait until January for a new one :(

I prepared myself for it. But ****, WHY SHONDA, WHY??

I too saw it coming with Henry...I feel so bad for not only Teddy but Christina...It's not like she could have / would have done anything differently, but I can still see why she's ****** no one told her who she was really operating on. The bigger tearjerker for me was the baby story (I blame it on the pregnancy horomones! LoL). And I'm just really, really surprised on where the Mer/Der/Zola story is going. I really wanted them to have her...And maybe they still will, but why do we have to wait so long?? :( And YankeeGirl, to answer your question (WHY, SHONDA, WHY!?!). I've noticed in this show that Shonda Rhimes doesn't like people (namely women) to be happy and in love. Most of the time, when things are going good, she throws something in there to take it all away. It's like an emotional roller coaster!
I was in tears for a good 15 minutes. Not only when Cristina ended up telling Teddy, but when that girl had to make the decision about her father. Also, when the Zola/Mer/Der story line finally resolved. Happy for that. Grey's has been making me cry lately, but it's getting better. It definitely took a blow for a few seasons, but it's back on track...As long as there are no more musical episodes I will continue to watch.

I was so happy for them.
Don't really know how I feel about it, but it would be a nice change to what's been going on with other random characters. 'Grey's Anatomy': Katherine Heigl wants to return | Inside TV | EW.com

Even though toward the end her story was a mess, she is still a favorite.
This past week's episode was a good one. I don't think it was as good as the If/Then episode, but it was good nonetheless. The entire Richard storyline with his wife having Alzheimer's is heartbreaking. I kind of hope they end that one soon because I don't know how much more I can take. I love Loretta Devine as much as the next person, but I'm not a fan of the direction they've gone on it. On another note, I'm glad Owen is moving out (if he'll live up to it...doubt it). I've never been a fan of the Owen/Cristina relationship anyway. And yay for crossover's on next week's episode! 2 hours of goodness and Kate Walsh again!
Why does Grey's have to do this to me? I don't want any of them to die. It's going to be another shocking finale, I can just see it now!
Toward the end of the show I actually paused it and looked up on google, "Did Grey's Anatomy get renewed?" I couldn't figure out how they were going to get everyone to come back to Seattle Grace after they all planned on leaving (my guess at that time for the big death rumor that had been circulating was April killing herself being her world is imploding.) Anyway, now it all makes sense. A plane crash. One of the lead characters dies (my money is on Derek or Meredith being I don't think either has signed on for another year) and the remainder struggle on back to Seattle for a new season. Honestly, this has been one of the best seasons in my opinion since the second. I was annoyed when they added all the new characters in the hospital merger (while getting rid of popular leads like Kate Walsh to a spinoff) and I guess it just took this long for me to finally consider them part of the actual cast and to care about their outcomes. I am so happy were are a million miles away from imaginary Denny.

Also:
Mike Ausiello said "The Originals" (Meredith, Alex, Christina) are safe as well as Bailey and he also ruled out Jackson and Mark.
I'm thinking it's going to be Arizona for some reason, which will then be the reason why Alex decides to stay in Seattle.
Maybe the plane crashes and everyone survives? Then in the process of removing the wreckage, rescuers find the dead bodies of Dr. Burke and Izzy in a tent? Later it is discovered that they are married and on a honeymoon camping trip in Idaho. That would be shocking, lol. On a side note: I noticed today on IMDB that a bunch of non-original characters have surpassed the episode totals of the originals (the remaining originals have 170 episodes.) Callie - 142 Sloan - 134 Izzie - 118 Lexie - 111 George - 100 Owen - 91 Arizona - 82 Jackson - 65 Burke - 61

I'm still thinking it's going to end in a smoke monster though. On another note, the only one that you bolded that really matters is George and very early Izzie. Burke was just an *******.
Preview for the upcoming finale! Ahhhhh, it's going to be a good one!
Hand's down, the worst Grey's finale ever.
Hand's down, the worst Grey's finale ever.
I disagree! It was a great final, but not the outcomes that I wanted. Just another finale that made me cry...

I don't remember ever being this "meh" about a Grey's finale, they're usually the show's strong point.

I think it would have been better had they made it a 2-hour season finale and tightened up the loose ends.
I used to be a HUGE Grey's fan but lost interest after season 6. The show is just not what it used to be and it is upsetting because it used to be very well written. Now I feel like they are just throwing a whole bunch of unrealistic storylines to keep our attention.
