Not to down play your hardships, but there is no excuse or barrier that is preventing you from going to college. I'm sure your story is great but so are the thousands they hear. I hate to be the debbie downer.

There is also no barrier from doing it later in life. Schools are increasingly seeing that. Not all RW cast members have college.

Its not impossible, but logistically its difficult. Either way though, I didnt really want to go to college, atleast not right away...but thanks for your feedbackk

This is what I don't get, how do you just turn up to a interview and off load all your baggage? I don't even know if I could go to a psychologist and tell them my life story.
If I was casted on the show and the opportunity arose to tell my story then I would but I just feel at the moment people are going on the show to air their sob stories and its quite pathetic.

I have 2 responses to this.
1) Every year it seems MTV is looking for people who have gone through some sort of struggle in their lives. These people get casted often. Look at pretty much the entire cast of Las Vegas.
2) "Normal" people are simply not interesting. People who are messed up in the head, as I admittedly am...that's interesting. If it was a group of 7 completely normal individuals who sat around singing kumbaya, that wouldnt make good tv.
I applied online and they sent me an email saying I made it to the second round (maybe everyone makes it to the second round?) with a long application to do. they said I have to send it back within 48 hrs and they would get back to me within 4-6 weeks. Why do people get call backs that night if they do the application in person and it takes me 4-6 weeks. It's been about three weeks now and I'm really hoping they get in touch with me for a skype interview. But why does it take so long?

Usually they give more priority to people at the casting calls. This is because the casting director is meeting them in person and already can get a feel of their presence. Once the round table is finished, they immediately fill out the 16 pg. application. Since the casting director is already in town, they usually schedule a one-on-one interview the next day or so. Being that you're submission was all online-based, there isn't necessarily any rush to process your application and get you started in the 3rd round.

Yup. That's exactly what happened with me. I'm currently out of the country right now and will have to do a Skype interview if I make it. I just don't like the thought of the people from the casting calls to be more "preferred" than the people who apply online. I'd like to think I have an equal chance.

I don't know that they are. The more you stand out, the more you stand out however you contact them I think.

I expect the contract to be renewed -- as it has been for years, but I agree with most media critics that the show/format is tired. I didn't watch a minute of SD 2.

From what I know, they aren't going to begin filming until 2013. That's a little larger gap than normal. If I need to justify it, I will. Considering they are ending filming early for RW27 and they are getting ready to film the challenge, I believe that contributes to them going a tad slower than normal.
I will note, they have done the initial camera interviews for those held back after casting calls, they have reached out to individuals by email to fill out the same app as those kept after the first round at casting calls, they have also conducted skype interviews, phone interviews, and requested home tapes.
All the normal casting stuff. It's hard to guess, but unless they have something special up their sleeves, I bet they pick their final cast between September - November.
If anyone wants to anonymously post where they currently are in the process without giving details about yourself, please do! It would help us to determine when the final round might be.

You don't need to justify it, but that seems off. If that were the case I would expect there to be ST Thomas and the Challenges this year and then a huge 6 month gap where the next RW wouldn't air until Summer 2013. Unless they are going to slow the pace for good to one each per year, that sounds peculiar to me.

I personally thought there would be filming from September to past New Years, but not from what I've heard from people that are more involved with process than............... Hard to point it out, only relaying what Ive heard from officials and know to have happened already.

I just filled out an online app yesterday, I was sad to see reading the articles that I have already missed the casting calls. Reading some of the other posts and the one about the guy that was sent the 16 page app in a couple days I wanted to know if you don't recieve it that soon can you pretty much assume that you're not going to the next stage or can the time frame go longer than just a couple days?

Question say when you go to the casting call and they ask you to stay back to fill out the long application and than they call you for another interview at a Hotel and if you advanced do they do the Skype interview? I ask because in the tape route you send in a tape and if they like it they give you the 20 page app to fill out than the Skype interview but at the Casting Call they give you long app right there if you past the first round

They have been doing rolling casting for the last few seasons, but perhaps this is their way of officially saying "if you aren't in by this date, you won't be considered for this season". Anyone who applies after the deadline goes into the RW29 pool.
I mean, if you look at Twitter, some [strike]idiots[/strike] people thought that they were applying for season 27 when RW: St Thomas was already filming. BMP doesn't always get the brightest crayons in the box.
I've seen some social network posts where people thought they were being called in for the Real World but were being interviewed for other shows. Makes me contemplate the possibility that BMP is pulling back its reality production aspirations, maybe in favor of scripted stuff; or if, like I indicated, if maybe there would be a longer delay between shows so continuous casting would be wasted energies.

And then in the 'year' field, the minimum is 1993, I was born in 1994. Should I lie about my age maybe?

I feel you on that. If you lie you will definitely be found out though. I would hate for the show to be cancelled so badly because I really want to be on it. But the chances that it will be an international season.
We can keep our fingers crossed and hope its still on in 2015. Maybe we'll be on the same season?
