Part of the probelm is that all the good people/new people left early... which happens every season of the Challenge. I'm kind of bored of the SAME people making it to the end - Johnny, Paula, the usuals etc. The season started off on a good note, it was nice to see new faces but it sucks that they all ended up leaving early because they get beat by people who make a living off of doing Challenges.
I would mind the same faces being at the end less if they actually fought to get there. More often than not, they just sit on their butts getting byes week after week.
I predict tonight's episode got (just throwing a number seems right out there) 1.614 Million Viewers and .9 in the demo. It hasn't trended once yet and not much promoting I think.
There's an aftershow? I didn't know until there was a commercial just now.
I'm worried. Hope we get a 1.2 but I doubt it. Will go with .9
We all know the ratings suck because there's been no drama. Guaranteed when CT punched people in the face or fights werew adverrtised ratings skyrocketed. Reality TV is about the drama, this show is becoming more focused on competition and less drama to the point Survivor has more fights in it. Where's that CT/Ty altercation? Its such a sad season. There's been no alliance drama, secret convos, or fights. Pathetic season imo.

Hmm.. Good it didn't drop not good it didn't rise. Still this seasons average is very good compared to previous seasons.
Well you certainly don't want your show trending downwards towards the end. Hopefully the finale picks up like usual. If the challenge comes back I wonder what conclusions BMP will draw from this if any? Would be tragic if they looked at the numbers then looked at the challenges and thought... "Hmmm... we need more timed water challenges!" LOL

The ratings have been very unusually steady for RW or The Challenges which makes me ponder if Nielson is modeling the show's ratings (and presumably other shows as well) more so than normal.
The ratings have been very unusually steady for RW or The Challenges which makes me ponder if Nielson is modeling the show's ratings (and presumably other shows as well) more so than normal.
I think what is helping the Challenges this season is that MTV is scheduling popular shows (Teen Mom, Jersey Shore) before the shows and that is leading to the ratings staying steady.
I think what is helping the Challenges this season is that MTV is scheduling popular shows (Teen Mom, Jersey Shore) before the shows and that is leading to the ratings staying steady.
They have been showing a rerun of the previous week before the Challenge this season.
They have been showing a rerun of the previous week before the Challenge this season.
That may help some, also. But with ratings giants like Jersey Shore or Teen Mom preceding the rerun may put more interest into seeing what comes afterward and it possibly brings in a younger viewer.
I think what is helping the Challenges this season is that MTV is scheduling popular shows (Teen Mom, Jersey Shore) before the shows and that is leading to the ratings staying steady.
The almost uniform 200K drop in cable shows on most networks at the begining of this run plus the unusually stable ratings make me think that there is a modeling shift. They don't have "real" numbers except from their box viewers--they just sample markets and plug them into math models from what I have heard. One complaint I have heard forever is that they over sample California and major markets and under sample "fly over country". I have heard they estimate some based on channel signal strength but mostly they just sample-model.
One complaint I have heard forever is that they over sample California and major markets and under sample "fly over country".
We all know the only channel being viewed in fly over states is CBN. Thus they are not statistically important in the bigger picture to advertisers selling things other than gold coins and crucifixes. ;)
South Park was again Wednesday's top original cable show with a 1.3 Adults 18-49 rating, down from last week's 1.5 Adults 18-49 rating. Challenge: Battle of the Exes and Psych tied for second place with a 1.1 Adults 18-49 rating.
via
Man, the final is not performing quite like I hoped.
Let's hope that all the twitter buzz is a good sign for the finale ratings!
I say 2.1 million and 1.3 demo
Hopefully, twitter is good endication of good ratings. 1)CTand Diem were trending worldwide for the entire hour of exes, because people wanted them to win. Also "IF CT" was also trending. 2)Camilan and Johnny were trending worldwide on the last 10 or 5 mins because people were complaining about them winning. I swear I was reading through it for every 20 negative tweets there was one positive one.

Jersey Shore's ratings have been going down further and further, the reunion last Thursday went down to 2.903M and dropped from a 2.7 to a 1.7 in 18-49. The show is obviously losing steam quickly, and it's the same thing with 16 & Pregnant which garnered the same ratings that The Challenge has been getting in its 22nd run. :P The Real World/Road Rules/Challenge franchise truly is one of a kind... it's amazing how long they've lasted. I hope the show is renewed for more as this season has performed awesomely. Hoping for a strong finish here, along with a renewal from the MTV peeps!

O0o0o0o, goody.
Challenge: Battle of the Exes came in second with a 1.2 (up from last week's 1.1) and Sons of Guns beat out Psych for third place with a 1.0 vs. a 0.8.
via
CHALLENGE: BATTLE OF EXES MTV 10:00 PM 1.985 1.2 (18-49) Next Wednesday we will learn if it is also in the top ten advertising supported cable shows (18-34) for the week. It squeaked in at 9th place last week if I recall correctly. (9th -- The Challenge: Battle of the Exes -- MTV -- 1126)
1.98 is still awesome, would have been even better if they cracked 2 million again but ratings did increase from the last few weeks which is good.
I think those numbers a disappointing. Rivals finale has I think 500000 more viewers and .2 more in the demo. Maybe people were just sick of having Johnny win all the time. Or maybe the face there was no rookies this season in the final. I don't know but still I'm sure for some who heard the spoiler of Johnny winning didn't watch it live. Me included I just DVRed it lol
