Interesting what some former cast members think make a great roommate
RW:Philly casting
Man I miss the old Real World cast members. Watching this made me realize how much the people who come on the show have changed. No one is as free spirit or interesting like they used to be.
Though the original Las Vegas season was "the downfall" of the Real World. It easily had the best cast & was the best season.
All the girls were *****n gorgeous, the guys were relatable & they all had stories that drew you in. They were the ONLY cast to be reunited. I mean, its clear they had the best season.
Chicago was a great season as well.

I hate that sooo much. I think of it as a "revamp". When I think "downfall", I think DC
Well, I guess it all depends on what you think of the seasons after LV compared to the ones before it. It definitely represented a shift in what Real World focused on. I personally don't like the original Vegas season all that much, but that's mostly because I couldn't stand most of the roommates. My favorite two were probably Frank and Brynn, but Frank ruined it by being a giant dbag on Gauntlet 3 and the Vegas Reunion thing. Also, there was way too much focus on Trishelle and Steven, and I found both to be truly awful, especially Steven.
I also wouldn't call DC the downfall either, simply because I think that implies that each following season was just as bad as the last. I think the two seasons directly after DC are two of the series' best, and certainly two of the best in a long time. Now, if the show continues to be as boring as SD2 was, then I'd say it'd be fair to call that the downfall. But only time will tell.
I think the Real World strayed from it's original concept earlier than Vegas. The difference between season 1-4 and seasons 5-11 was the first "revamp" of RW. Then you have 12-16 which were more like seasons 5-11 and started to develop what we know RW as now. Then 17-24 was when I felt that they cast were just incredibly not relatable and boring. And finally they have done 25-present which are just terrible, imo. I mean really. Watch RW: New York (1992) then RW: San Diego (2011).... The latter should not even be called The Real World because it is a completely different show.
I have not seen every season of the Real World and I do put a lot of blame on the casting choices, but there is no way to ignore also that in the 20 year history of the show, society has changed a bunch. It could be argued that not all of the differences are MTV's doing. Mainstream society was just starting to hear about the internet in 1991 and now everything is online. Reality shows were barely around in 1991 and now they are a dime a dozen. In 1991, there were probably less than 1/3rd of the cable stations to compete with as there are now. Beyond all that, viewers and participants were way different then than now in terms of what was acceptable/edgy.
Is there a site where I can watch old Real Worlds? I started really late...
Hulu has Seasons 1-4, and 21-23
MTV.com has season 3, 12, 21-26
iTunes has 12, 16-26, minus Sydney (19) and Reunited Las Vegas.
Seasons 1, 12 and 25 are on DVD.
As far as I know, 5-11 and 13-15 are the only seasons not accessible.
Those are all legal ways of watching past seasons, of course.
Agrreed merely because STDeven was a d*** the whole show & Trashelle was just awful and stayed that way in every appearance on every show after that. How she's one of the most popular is crazy because out of the 4 girls she was the least attractive IMO. But Brynn was a great focus the first half and then sort of died off. Irulan was promiscuous, FRank was interesting as well and wholesome which deteriorated on the reunion and G3. Alton was a great guy and sincere but seems to be a bit on the pretense side. Arissa was consistent the whole season as far as character plot & personality. They were a cast you love to hate and remember. I can't name any other cast in full other than B2NY, Chicago & SD1
Decided on this long weekend to Watch the past 5 seasons over and rank it based of re watching
1. Real World New Orleans
2. Real World Cancun
3. Real World Las Vegas
4. Real World San Diego
5. Real World Washington D.C
this is amazing, its like traveling back in time

I wish there was a legal way to watch the old shows online or on TV for free without having to sign up and then cancel a Hulu membership. I couldn't watch all of them in a month anyway :(
I haven't made it all the way through but here is a huge interview with Jon Murray--its hours long

I wish they'd go back and use the RW reunion as a ramp up to the next season like they did for Season 2's start instead of using it as a bridge for The Challenges. Giving a little more time would allow some of the petty arguments to go away instead of being ALL of the reunion. I really wish BMP/MTV would delink/distance these two shows some.
I did think it was interesting that they found Emily from DC working in the Starbucks next to their casting call and that he admits that they do go out and recruit people to be on the show or at least audition for it.
If you coukd cast an All-Star season, Who would be on it? Where Would It Be?
My cast would be 7 people from the past 7 seasons
Leroy Garret
Mike Manning
Ryan Leslie
Jonna Mannion
Katelynn Cusanelli
Priscilla Mendez
Kimberly Alexander
I don't like every one on this cast but I feel this could be a really good mix.
Location: Austin,Texas
I'd have
1. Coral- B2NY
2. Trishelle- Vegas
3. CT- Paris
4. Svetlana- Key West
5. Mike- DC
6. Jemmye- B2NO
7. Adam- B2LV
and as I'm sure Adam would get replaced at some point, they can send in Nate from B2SD or Leroy from B2LV
It was harder than I thought to pin-down my all-star cast picks and I'm still not 100% sure if this is I'd like:
1. Coral Smith - Back to New York
2. Paula Meronek - Key West
3. Robin Hibbard - San Diego
4. Beth Stolarczyk - Los Angeles
5. Chris "CT" Tamburello - Paris
6. Theo Gantt - Chicago
7. Brad Fiorenza - San Diego
It was hard picking guys I'd enjoy seeing again. I had to stop myself from picking Road Rulers.
I would want
CT
Post-Island Johnny
Leroy (for calmness)
Pandrew Woods (just for the way he would interact with the others)
Coral
Paula (the old train-wreck version)
Jamie/Cameran/Emily (DC) (for the purpose of looking at)
And though at this point they'd never do it I'd really like to see a Real World: Fresh Meat with:
Kenny
Evan
Brandon
Cara Maria
Diem
Casey
Laurel or Evelyn
I think this combination would've been interesting Pre-Fresh Meat because a lot of these people are friends and would probably just live together fine, but I think they would clash if they didn't know each other.

I had to change it,lol.
Most of the people I would want to see would be so old now that it would just be sad to see them doing the Real World thing again, so I will just reduce it to Chicago or New Orleans as the groups I would like to see again as a whole (with Coral as their boss or neighbor or landlord or something). I guess it may be because I still sense the aftertaste of most of the newer season casts.

That's the main reason why my all-star cast is from all the newer seasons but I would love to see a Reunited:Real World New Orleans(Original).

I'd be interested in seeing some more of Ryan Leslie but independent of the RW/Challenges simply because I feel like maybe he was doomed from get go but could have been a better castmate.
I saw some recent pics online of Danny Roberts. Didn't even recognize him. I would really rather see guys like that hosting things like the Aftershows than Chet. I think we'd get lot better shows if we had somebody who had some distance and perspective to add to their experience.
