Absolutely put me in the anti water challenge camp. When I saw water challenge, I mean anything that involves a large body of water. For the last two years or so, I have been known amongst my challenge friends as the guy who is completely tired of "timed water challenges." I'm just flat out tired of any type of water challenge now. One thing, they always have some huge rig or set up to incorporate with these. I think a low budget ground challenge could be cheaper and more entertaining. I believe it was in one of the infernos where they had the challengers do a bunch of military drills in the sand. That was grueling but very entertaining to watch. It also must have cost next to nothing to do. There was another challenge where they were dropping fake money from a plane and people had to scramble and get as much cash as possible. Very simple but it was fun to watch. This is why I was loving cutthroat and was shocked when I heard about it's ratings. I don't remeber how many water involved challenges cutthroat had but the ones on land were impressive! The gas chamber was awesome. The obstacle course where everybody had to push through was fun. Riot act, provided another legendary moment with Derrick facing down 3 opponents. That's what I'm talking about. The problem I have with water challenges as well is that there is little direct competition. It's let this person go and see what time they get. That gets so old. When they have heats with multiple people like they did in the duel on that roller blade challenge or the duel II when they raced carts with those bobble heads, it was so much better. Lastly, I'm starting to think the water challenges are more dangerous than the physical ones. People are always getting jacked up and laid out in these ones suspended over huge bodies of water. Anessa just busted up her lip. People land face first and can hardly breathe. I'm not saying eliminate them completely but I think they should take a big back seat to more stuff on the ground and more puzzles/interesting challenges that aren't 70 percent based around the fear of falling.
I totally agree. These water challenges are just tired and repetitive. We need more Diversity. Remember that Car Trashing challenge back on Rivals? THAT'S what we need more of. Oh and has anyone noticed that all of the Episode titles for this season so far have been titles of a Famous song? Love is a Battlefield- Sung by Pat Benetar What's Love got to do with it?-Sung by Tina Turner Where did our love go?-Sung by The Supremes It's really cool and I hope they keep it up.

Just kidding. Still, it is pretty cool.

I know why Sarah had to go home, but couldn't Heather have been given Nany as her new partner? They hooked up and she went through all the psych tests aready for when she was going to be on with Adam. Heather had another available Ex.
Dustin and Heather (The Challenge, Simmons), [strike]100 points[/strike] -50 points [Reality Czar note: I messed up, the rules clearly state "leaving due to injury" is minus-50 points and I gave them 100 for "being kicked off." I'm an idiot.] This week on The Challenge, rookies Heather and Dustin were sent home (100 points) because Dustin had a boo-boo. Seriously, if Rob Gronkowski can morph into a shirtless Rob Crunkowski and Party Rock his way into the sports news cycle with a high ankle sprain, how come FratPad’s own Dustin can’t answer trivia questions with a cut on his knee? What's FratPad? Oh nothing. Just the gay **** site Dustin appeared on for years before being cast on the Real World and starting a serious relationship with Heather, who had no idea the intimacy she was sharing with her Dusty he had already shared with anyone with an Internet connection and a credit card. Since this is a judgment-free zone [Ed note: Totally not true.] I'm just going to move on and get to the good stuff. The trivia/spelling bee challenge! Is case you don’t have an encyclopedic knowledge of The Challenge history — and in that case, what's wrong with you? — on The Duel 2 the cast was forced to spell words correctly or be thrown off a cliff. "Exercise," "freight" and "throne" were all misspelled. It was the ******* best. This season they mixed in pop culture trivia and The Challenge history questions to make the cast look even dumber. (It worked.) Also, this time, when the contestants answer a question incorrectly, they were catapulted into a lagoon. It was better than the Super Bowl. This week's top five list is The Top Five Best Moments From This Challenge — listed from, ah **** it, I can’t even order them. They are like my children, I love them all with everything I have: 1. When Abram was asked who Britney Spears’ babydaddy and ex-husband was, he answered “Aaron Drake” and was then catapulted into the lagoon. Now, had I been Abram’s partner, I would've protested. There was a stretch there in which Britney Spears was poppin’ out babies and marriages at a clip that was nearly impossible to keep track of. I feel like the onus is on the Producers to prove that she never had a child and wedded a man named Aaron Drake. 2. Paula spelled "calculator" correctly. There was a better chance of her morphing into a Pegasus and flying away in midflight after being catapulted than spelling calculator correctly. I see you, Paula Walnuts. More on this later. 3. Camilla was asked, “Which Playboy bunny did Hugh Hefner announce he was engaged to in 2007?” Camilla responded, “Bob Marley.” Read that one again. I wish you could see me laughing as I type it. 4. Some people got questions like, “Who played Captain Jack Sparrow?” and, “Who was Bobby Brown married to?” and, “Which creature was the star of the film Jaws?” Naomi, a just-out-of-her-teens Latina from the Bronx, got, “Who was Cher’s singing partner and ex-husband?” and, “What is the word for female fox?” I think the Producers gave her these questions because she was the most fun to watch fly through the air. 4.5. I knew I would be pointing and laughing at these people in this column, so I played along to see how I would do were I suspended above a Dominican lagoon answering trivia questions. It was not pretty. I spelled etiquette wrong, got the capital of Alabama wrong and only got one Challenge history question right. But I have since decided I won’t let my own idiocy get in the way of making fun of the idiocy of others. (I just spelled idiocy incorrectly writing that.) 5. Paula Walnuts was asked, “Who do most people consider to be John F. Kennedy’s killer?” and without hesitation she confidently screamed, “John Wilkes Booth!” This inspired Grantland Guru Bill Simmons to text me, “Paula thinking John Wilkes Booth killed JFK may have been the best reality moment of the past three years.” It was that good. It was so good, I had to test the question on fellow Grantlander Robert “Baby Bear” Mays in the office today, and without hesitation he confidently blurted, “John Wilkes Booth!” I love Baby Bear. Abram (The Challenge, Connor), 20 points: Abram on The Challenge is special. He cried this week (20 points) and displayed a collection of tattoos that made my sister-in-law (and Internet sensation) DJ Pillow Queen say, “It looks like he took a crayon and doodled all over himself.” And, actually, that is exactly what he did — took a tattoo gun and tattooed himself. Why would he do that? Probably the same the reason he smeared his own feces all over a jail cell. Because he is a total crazeball. Emily and Ty (The Challenge, Lisanti), 10 points: Ty and Emily are a force to be reckoned with this year on The Challenge. Their power is fueled by genes, exercise, and a strong hatred of one another ... a recipe for victory is there ever was one. This week they ousted Grantland’s favorite couple, Naomi and Leroy. This made us sad. Leroy had one of the most likeable TV stints since Bill Clinton donned sunglasses and played sax on Arsenio. Leroy, no joke, we have an internship for you.
via
Did anyone else chuckle when they gave Ty the question about Chris Brown?
I agree that the episode titles are really cool, the next episode is titled Love the Way you Lie, which was sung by Eminem and Rihanna
What would be really cool in my book would be if they were to actually feature those songs by the original artists in the soundtrack to the episodes.
What would be really cool in my book would be if they were to actually feature those songs by the original artists in the soundtrack to the episodes.
Great idea but it probably won't happen since buying the rights to original soundtracks by noted artists is normally expensive. I expect that expense would come out of the fixed cost contract for which the networks usually offer a per episode payment. Big name artists = less profit for BMP.
Sneak peek for episode 4:
If Ty has gotten his conditioning in check then man... he and Emily could be a force. Emily's legs seem so devastating. Just looks like she can generate tremendous power from those things. She reminds me of a tall Chun Li hehe There are some men I would rather take a kick to the head from than her. Just looks like she could lob a skull clean off if she had the mind to do it. Camila is also very good. They got some tough women on this season. I hope Emily and Rachel plan to do more challenges. I am pretty confident that Camila is here for the long haul. Female competitors are looking up even with the major hit that Ev's absence leaves. The fellas better watch out!

BTW, IMO this was the worst Challenge I have ever seen. There was something not quite right about the firing mechanism on that springboard which seemed to result in the worst possible launches for that contraption. While I normally think these things are contrived in light of all the safety gear they use, I think this time they put the players in a very dangerous situation in which there was nothing they could really do to protect themselves. I think BMP was VERY lucky that a busted lip was the most serious injury that came out of that round.

They obviously told them what to do if they missed a question (tuck and roll). It seemed like one of those water slides you ride and at the top they tell you that you could fall off if you don't cross your legs and your arms. It's basically a crapshoot (luck, like you said) if someone is going to get injured or not. I'm not too shocked that a busted lip was the most serious injury that they got because it really wasn't that big of a drop to begin with. I thought the mental aspect is what made the challenge, not the falling and potential of getting injured.
This was definitely one of the most fun challenges they've done in a while. Some of my favorite moments from this challenge: What film won best film in 2010? Johnny: Me, Myself, and Irene. What show were Danny and Melinda on separate teams? CT: The Inferno 2. TJ: No, it was Gauntlet III. Johnny: CT, you were on that show, dude. Hahahahahahahahaha. Leroy: "I. Don't. Know" and "Me and Naomi are going to the Dome."

I would like to thank Camila for educating me in pop culture. Otherwise I would have never known Hue Hefner had a thing for dread-lock-toting Rastafarian musicians.

Damn, just saw the Whitney Houston question on the replay. made me feel sad.
What about Fresh Meat? Weren't they on separate teams there too?
Not in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, my friend.
Enjoyed the episode. I wasn't surprised at all that abram didn't know the federline question.. lol. Bummer Leroy is going home. I have a question!! I am sorry if it's been brought up before, I try to read most of the threads/posts, but there are a ton of them. With two teams getting ejected so early and no replacements, are they just going to run the show with two less challenges? I guess another alternative is to not do an elimination round that day if a team got sent home early... or am I missing something?

They're definitely not going to have 2 elimination rounds, which are always fun to watch. Or even worse, they might not have 2 missions, which are even more fun to watch.
Without giving too much away...I can tell you that one of those is definitely right.
Obviously it has to be fewer elimination rounds since if they still had 10 there'd be only one team in the final, right?
Without giving too much away...I can tell you that one of those is definitely right.
I am pretty sure basic mathematics confirmed that for me already as the only three possibilities so one would logically have to be right :drinks: (but I too had to tread a non-spoiler tightrope in crafting that response even without knowing the exact right answer)
I wonder how it will all play out but one thing we often forget is BMTV can pretty much do whatever the hell they want and they probalby have contigency plans in place for situations like this. They will come up with something if they have to fill a certain number of episodes. There was a bit of debate earlier about having an uneven number of girls and boys on the challenge and people didn't know how that would work so they assumed there were going to be two more male cast members.

They have had episodes in the past with no elimination and they, I think, have split the finals into two episodes.

I'm not sure where to post this... Bunim Murray (or is it MTV that takes care of advertising?) is really capitalizing on their love theme haha. They have a special Valentine's Day trailer for each one of the remaining teams. I think CT and Diem's takes the cake. lol I like Diem & CT! To be honest they seem to be the only pair that use to be a REAL couple, and still have REAL problems between each other. I don't why every other team comes off as laughable that they could be considered exes, and even have "tension" between each other. It could be how the show is edited, and I obviously don't know how each relationship is outside of the show, but Diem & CT come off as authentic (plus it could be couples like Mark & Robin ended their relationship in good terms, and they are barely getting airtime)
