Even though I'm mad that there won't be as many challenges, I'm kinda glad that people have gone home so quickly. I don't really like the beginning episodes of the season because a lot of people get shafted with camera time. On Rivals I thought that after Sarah/Katelynne left (9 teams, 18 people still there) they did a better job of spreading the wealth. Now there are 16 people left. Who really was in this episode significantly? Abram, Cara Maria, Paula, Diem, Leroy, Emily and Naomi and KIND OF Rachel and Aneesa? Dustin and Heather went home, Ty was in the elimination, and Dunbar won the challenge and they were barely shown. Johnny, Camila, CT, Mark, Robin, Tyrie and Jasmine were non-existant. Hopefully 16 is a more manageable number.
I certainly never thought that these guys were the sharpest knives in the drawer but this challenge actually surprised me. Diem thought that "etiquette" was spelled with a "d"? I know they're probably stressed/scared about being chucked into the water but my goodness. Really all the spelling questions made me wonder if they were told to get questions wrong. I doubt it but for their sakes I hope that's the case.
Not knowing the pop culture stuff I can get past because some of it I'm not necessarily proud that I know it but other questions were just embarrassing.
Oh and is it just me or is Abram's whole, "I'm so above this," schtick really getting old? He's annoyed me with that since I heard him on one of Derrick's podcasts going on about how he doesn't watch the show or much T.V. in general because you know he's above all that-so far above it that he participates in it...
I actually agree with most of this. The only team I'm rooting for now is Ty/Emily. 1)because Emily is fine as **** and I love looking at her. 2) Ty is entertaining and when ever him and Emily are having a conversation, it's always hilarious when they try to one up each other. They hate each other and yet they have the most chemistry..
I agree, when Emily was trying to get Ty to work out with her was pretty funny, Ty did not wanna be bothered but i guess Emily's not as "easy going" with Ty as Brandon seemed to be. And when they're in front of the camera before the elimination, lol Ty's just trying to prove he's the man but Emily's wearing the pants in that relationship... clearly.
I really don't care about this Abram and Cara Maria drama. I actually think it took up TV space. I'd rather they show the cast having a good time.
I agree, they annoy me. And Abram's not as fun as he once was. He was always a little crazy but in a funny way. Now he's just awkward to watch.
I enjoy CT more when he's not caught up in this drama with Diem. She brings to boring out of him.
Agree again, he was much more entertaining on Rivals. Even on The Duel he was pretty blah but once Diem left, i liked him a lot more.
And this mission was all types F***ery. I hate how some people got some of the most simplest basic questions(Rachel), while others got the hardest(Leroy).
btw, I wouldn't have been able to answer that Cher question. Yeah, I've heard of this Sunny guy, but not enough to remember when I'm ask the question. I'm a Rolling Stone fan, but I don't know about Jagger's ex wife name.
I thought Paula got the easiest questions.
"What season had the Gulag elimination"? lol
Apparently Abe isn't having fun unless he's smearing **** over the walls of a jail cell. Go home then, you cry baby! Really wish he or Paula had left this episode. Instead 2 of my favorite teams leave. I really felt bad for Dustin & Heather. They were doing so well, too. What a dumb way to leave a challenge. As much as I love Emily, I wanted to see Leroy & Naomi take out a few more teams. This seems like it's going to be a super short season with all these early departures.
A lot of those questions would have had me dead actually. The ear one I was thinking Leonardo but knew that wasn't right. I would have remembered the Sonny and Cher one but it threw me off. Forgot Sonny's name could only remember Bono. Lee Harvey Oswald wold have gotten me unless I had some time to think. The first one that got Leroy would have certainly ended me.
The sleeping Beauty one would have gotten me too as even as a I kid I hated that story and haven't had anything to do with it since maybe 5. Was a not a kid for fairy tales. I kept thinking of Snow White too on that one but I knew it wasn't right. Then Rumpelstiltskin kept popping in my mind but didn't feel right either. If I had a enough time I suppose I could have guessed sleeping beauty.
I'm actually surprised Abram came on this challenge. I raised an eyebrow when I saw his name because if you hear him talk, he seems to have no interest in the stuff beyond the crazy challenges. He hates being in the house, he hates the drama, he hates watching it on TV. He only did Cutthroat for the check and mainly to promote his book. I thought he was done for sure but he must have found some motive for doing this one. After this though, I can't see him coming back. He seems totally put off by the show.
I'm disappointed that Heather and Dustin are gone because I told people they would be a surprise team. Well, not anymore. They got sent home before they could show their stuff. I thought they would be good. Had them pretty high on my rankings.
I may have underestimated Ty this season. He looks like he is in decent shape. I think I will develop a little crush on Emily as the season goes on. I always thought she was an attractive girl (I like tall, thicker girls) and I love chicks who can kick *** and aren't afraid to get dirty. Definitely rooting for her.
Guess right now I am strongly backing Emily (she's awesome) and Tyrie (love to see him get some redemption). REally though all my favorites have been sent home now so I am just ready for a good show.
LOL wow they're dumb, they didnt know snow white? Or how to spell auditorium and Ty, Ive never seen such a wack spelling of the word significant haha and CT couldn't remember the Danny/Melinda thing come on. And Abram didnt know K-Fed?!
But you know what some of those beginner questions were much harder than others, there were some names I never heard of, like you cant compare K-Fed to that dude that Leroy was asked about.
And *** is all the footage of Cara Maria and Abram fighting? Or at least show the scene where Camilla was yelling at Wes, *** is this, its like they want me to be bored. Like fine you want CT to look good fine dont show that fight even though Wes, Leroy, Cara, Sarah and Vinny all said it happened. But Jesus show something! Dont put drama in the trailer and make the episodes dry as ****! I miss the days when everything I saw in the trailer happened in the **** show. I dont want to see anymore seasons where every cocky thing Wes says or does makes it to the show but all other intense fights are completely erased from the episode. You cant tell me this episode was more entertaining than seeing a bunch of girls cry or watching CM/Abe fight (I know that sounded bad but you know what I mean).

They've left out fights before even though they showed them in the trailer. Like in "Battle of the Sexes 1" there was a HUGE fight between Aneesa and Ayanna that never aired but a snippet was on the trailer. Aneesa brought it up on "Battle of the Sexes 2" and of course they didn't show a clip of it since it never really aired. Maybe there weren't enough interviews for that fight between CT & Diem? Maybe it didn't follow the storyline they wanted to go with.

It was actually Sleeping Beauty they didn't know about. The question was about sleeping, so it would seem obvious right? Well, not to Leroy apparently.
So are we going to get fewer episodes or what? With all of these eliminations how does it even out? That's 3 teams eliminated early.
I'm going to assume we'll get the same amount of episodes there have been the past couple of seasons (10). There are 8 teams left. That's 5 more eliminated teams with 3 in the finals. I'm assuming they'll either give us 9 full episodes or drag one as a "To Be Continued" to make it 10. Not including the Reunion and the **** show.
My thoughts:
Dustin & Heather leaving hurts the integrity of the competition a bit. They were definitely a strong team for a pair of rookies, and could have raised eyebrows by potentially knocking out some vets.
The questions were pretty much all super-easy. I would have missed 2 Challenge-related questions although I haven't seen every season; I expect someone like Paula to know that stuff. I'm sure the questions were harder than they seemed with the pressure of a catapult shot into the water looming though. Rachel's comment about winning a spelling bee after failing to spell auditorium was pretty funny.
I would have preferred to see Abe & Cara Maria in the Dome rather than Leroy & Naomi. I realize that Paula was taking a chance putting Emily in hoping that the contest would be something where Leroy could win it over Ty, but I just can't see the reasoning behind not putting in Tyrie & Jasmine. At least if they win, they have almost no chance of winning a mission and sending Paula in as retaliation. Plus Jasmine is really annoying.
CT & Leroy was pretty funny. I'd rather see more of the funny stuff going on around the house like the throwing stuff at each other than the boring drama about how so-and-so used to be a couple and maybe they still are and where do they stand, blah blah blah. I get that it's the theme for this season but come on, 3 episodes now and we haven't seen any of Mark being Mark.
This challenge has softened my opinion of Emily. Maybe it's because she doesn't get much airtime other than the missions and I respect a strong game in that area; she's not showing much of the personality I despised from DC. I find I can actually root for her now and I think their team will do well as long as Ty shows up every day. Rachel is probably the only woman who could match up with her in most events.
Having not read any spoilers, I still think this is Johnny & Camila's Challenge to lose. They are well rounded so they won't ever finish last in a mission and should be able to compete in a final, and due to either some sense of displaced loyalty or some kind of sheep mentality they will never get thrown into the Dome either. I miss the days of Nehemiah calling out Evan because he wanted to cut off the lion's head or die trying.
Paula is like the new female Evan with her narrating everything. I kind of like it.
I love Paula's commentary; therefore, I don't mind her being back again and again...
I know I am in the minority on this.
So Ty finally wins an elimination round which he did technically earn but let's face it he has the best girl in this competition as his partner and that elimination was all about strength and size which was what he and Emily had over Leroy & Naomi
Ty sucked. He must have known that he as a guy is physically stronger than Emily. What an earth made him try to be first of the team to hold on to the pole. He made it so much harder for her. With this strategy they were somewhat lucky to win, I think.
When the cast were asked trivia questions and the Cher question came up, I knew it only because I used to watch Scooby Doo as a kid and Sonny and Cher guest appeared on their show. In the episode it was clear that Sonny and Cher were married and I can't believe 'til this day I remember it. Anyway, I liked the catapult launches. I'm glad Aneesa's fall wasn't bad enough for her and Rachel to get kicked out. I didn't like that Cara Maria was convincing Paula that Ty and Emily should be thrown in. I was super nervous because I knew Emily and Ty would be thrown in, it was just a gut instinct. I'm just relieved that it wasn't an elimination round like the one Wes and Mandi had with Leroy and Naomi. There is a clip where Mark kicks something, I'm wondering what ticked him off. Lastly, I'm rooting for Emily and Ty or Mark and Robin.
P.S. Last night around 11:15 Ty and Emily and Leroy and Naomi were worldwide trending on twitter. I should have saved it and posted it here, but whatever...

We must have been watching two different versions of the episode. It was clear to me that Tye and Emily had a strategy discussion, and they were obviously discussing and modifying their strategy when the first plan didn't get them both to the pole.
I suspect what Tye was giving us what was expected in the supposed tension between the two, as Emily did in her own comments, but she couldn't pull it off without smiling. She's just too nice a person.
Perhaps they might have been lucky to win vs. Johnny & Camilla, but there was certainly no luck involved in besting Leroy and Naomi.
Ty, Ive never seen such a wack spelling of the word significant haha
He left out one letter...
It was an easy word that anyone should've gotten...but he didn't completely butcher it...
He left out one letter...

Also in the aftershow, Ty mentioned that he couldn't spell the right word within the time limit. So I guess it was edited in a way (or he had to spell it wrong deliberately for the camera) that made it look like he spelled it wrong.
I don't think he's that dumb to spell it SIGNIFI***. Everyone knows that the letter combination *** does not work in any way.
Out of Rivals and BOTE, this was the worst episode (along with the one where CT and Adam were sent home). The challenge and elimination rounds were entertaining, but they got rid of the 2 teams I was rooting for the most. If Emily wasn't with Ty, I'd have hopes. I can already tell Johnny and Camila are gonna win, and that's going to annoy me.
I love Emily, but I’m glad that she realized that she is weaker (well, also lighter) than Ty and that she needed to be the one who held the pole first. Sometimes, men ARE the strongest, and that's just how it is ^^
On the after-show Cara Maria looks like she got attacked by a box of pastel crayons. That's incomprehensible, I mean, she’s gorgeous, but her makeup… geez.
Paula is like the new female Evan with her narrating everything. I kind of like it. But TY is 0-2 for eliminations.
… How? He was in 3 eliminations.
TJ: "Right answer is Van Go"
Tyrie: "**** it I knew it was Van Go"
Maybe he did know the right answer was Van Gogh but it wasn't the first artist that came to mind. They only had about 5-10 seconds to answer each question.
Wait do Americans pronounce Vincent Van Gogh's name as "Van Go" instead of "Van Goth"
I've never heard anyone pronounce it "Van Goth." I pronounce it like "Van Go" but everywhere it's spelled Van Gogh.
Wait do Americans pronounce Vincent Van Gogh's name as "Van Go" instead of "Van Goth"
I've heard British people pronounce it as "Van Goff", which is incorrect, but so is the way most Americans pronounce it, as "Van Go". Van Gogh was Dutch, so the correct pronunciation is something like "Ven" (or Von) "Goch" (rhymes with Loch).
For footage not being seen in the actual show, I remember seeing Aneesa (in a raised tone of voice) I believe telling Rachel, "Don't pull me into your bull****!" What I found interesting was I saw Dustin in the background. I wonder what happened there.

Never knew that, interesting. Never heard "Van Go" before, I just thought TJ was being dumb.
The pronunciation of "Van Gogh" is different in both English and Dutch. In English it is pronounced /ˌvæn ˈɡɒx/ or sometimes IPA: /ˌvæn ˈɡɒf/, especially in the UK. It is also pronounced as IPA: /ˌvæn ˈɡoʊ/ with a silent gh, especially in the US. In Dutch, it is usually [ˈvɪntsɛnt faŋˈxɔx], with a voiceless V. However, though Van Gogh's parents were from the Netherlands, he grew up in Brabant. Van Gogh used Brabant in his writing, so it is probable that he pronounced his own name with a Brabant accent: [vɑɲˈʝɔç], with a voiced V and palatalized G and gh. In France, where much of his work was produced, it is [vɑ̃ ɡɔɡə]
