He was 3rd in Defensive Player of the Year voting and was the emotional and defensive leader for the Mavericks. There are no good stats to show the defensive impact of a player. The Knicks made a great move by signing Tyson Chandler. They already have 2 very good scorers, they just needed a true center and a defensive leader which they got with Chandler. The one thing I would worry about is he has a history of injuries.
Knicks also picked up Chauncey Billups. Interesting move as I think Billups is on his decline.
Knicks also picked up Chauncey Billups. Interesting move as I think Billups is on his decline.
No they didn't. They had Billups on their team as he was included in their trade for Carmelo. They waived him using their amnesty so that they would have cap room for Chandler.

Clearly basketball's not my strong point.

They waived him using their amnesty so that they would have cap room for Chandler.
I'm a bit worried for their point guard position, all they have is Toney Douglas. I've heard rumors of Bibby and the Knicks, as a Kings fan I'd like that but unfortunately he is on the decline (well, honestly has been for a while now). Btw, any other Kings fans out there? I'm nervous because I want us to do well but we are so young, have too many players only looking to score, and while we addressed problems of defense by signing Chuck Hayes, he is so short for a big man (6 freaking 6)! I've always admired him though and hope he can help us out a little.
I've heard that the Knicks are hoping for Baron Davis to be amnestied by Cleveland. I actually like that idea...he can be great when properly motivated. What surprises me is West to the Celtics. Do any Cs fans know if they have to amnesty anyone or if it's a sign and trade situation? Last time I checked espn it was unclear.
Bibby To Sign With Knicks - RealGM Wiretap Well they are getting a slow vet who can still handle the rock and also hit the 3. Also... Knicks Making Push For Barea - RealGM Wiretap I love Barea because he is so short and still fearless. I've liked him since before last year's playoffs, even though my German roommate (and thus a huge Dirk and Mavs fan) constantly said he sucks haha.

Neither of them plays any defense. Barea is a nice offensive spark plug but he is nothing more than a backup PG. If Knicks fans think Barea will be a guy who plays more than 20-25 minutes a game they are just going to be disappointed.

I think they are a good pair at the point for the Knicks though, D'Antoni's system doesn't require great D, and now they have Chandler to defend the lane. Despite Bibby being slower, his shooting and Barea's quickness make up for it.
Los Angeles Lakers pull out of trade talks for Chris Paul, according to sources - ESPN Los Angeles So the Lakers are not trading for Chris Paul anymore, yet they are still moving Lamar Odom to the Dallas Mavericks? Interesting. I wonder if Odom refused to play for the Lakers after he was almost traded to the Hornets for Paul.
Now that my dreams of winning another Vevmo football title have been quashed, I was considering setting up an NBA fantasy league to tide me over until baseball, if there is interest. So, if we can get ten - let's do it. The draft will have to be next week (Sunday at the earliest with the first game on Christmas) so it all depends on if we can fill up the slots.
I'd definitely do it, but I will be in Barbados on Thursday until 12/25 so I would not be able to make the draft. Auto draft would probably be better for my team anyways lol
Auto draft would probably be better for my team anyways lol
I think I might have to start embracing auto draft as well, haha.
I'm in too...the league that I was supposed to do fell through.
That's three! Seven more to go...
I'm down to join!
I'm in, but is there anyway we can do ESPN, their overall layout is so much better than yahoo, CBS, or anyone for that matter. Also, my mavs getting odom for basically a high five is awesome. Take the 3rd best player away from the lake show and have him come off the bench for us? Very good, also getting vince carter as a spread the floor shooter is cool too.

Potentially: Davis Fields Anthony Stoudemire Chandler
If you want to be smashed in Fantasy Basketball I will be happy to oblige.
Now the CP3/Clippers deal is dead. I'm confused about what the league is looking for...they were getting great young talent, a veteran big, and an unprotected pick and they wanted more. In the Lakers deal they were getting three borderline all-stars and an unprotected pick. Eventually the Lakers/Clippers/Celtics/Knicks whoever else are just going to say **** it, play out the season, and bid on him in free agency and the Hornets get nothing.

Not to mention the Minnesota pick which is bound to be a top lottery pick. The pick could turn into Anthony Davis or Jared Sullinger. It is better than nothing, I can't see how they think they will get more from a team. Edit: had to pick between Gordon and Minnesota pick. We need four more to get our fantasy league going! I'm considering having the draft (if we fill up) this Sunday night at 8:30ET although I am willing to go with other suggestions based on when the most owners will be available. Christmas Eve is out and the first game is on Christmas so it would be nice to be ready to roll before then.

Well it's gonna be exciting to see Paul and Griffin, and even Jordan getting lobs. I like it for the Hornets though, nice young talent coming in (Gordon/Aminu/pick).

Eric Gordon is a top 20 player in the NBA and is on the verge of a break out into a superstar in my opinion. Chris Kaman is a very, very underrated center. Aminu was a first round pick last year, so he still has a ton of upside. On top of it all, That unprotected first round pick could very well be the number 1 overall pick next year, in what will probably be the most loaded draft class since the Lebron/Melo/Wade/Bosh draft. The Hornets could be a playoff team as early as this year in my opinion.

He is a borderline top 40 guy at best. The Hornets needed to go into rebuild mode because they were going to lose CP3 in free agency. They have a chance to get 2 top 8-10 picks this year in a deep draft class and start building with Aminu + Gordon + 2 rookies.

But if we are talking value as a player to a franchise, and you think he is borderline top 40 at best, by all means, name 40 players you'd rather build around. He is a monster offensively, and while he may be a little one dimensional right now, he is still just 22 years old. Kobe couldn't guard anyone when he was 22 either.

I would take Eric Gordon over Kobe and Dirk as building blocks but he is no where near the same level as them as players.
Can we not fill up in fantasy? I wouldn't mind an 8 team league if we can't find 10.
