The Real World San Diego: La Jolla (2011) - House
I came across an interesting article a little over a week ago. Clearly, the article caught my eye: MTV’s “Real World” will screen from Pacific Beach, California After doing some research, I was a bit skeptical. The movers said that the season would be filming in Pacific Beach, when the house in question is technically in La Jolla. Either way, after looking on Google Maps, I found the official address: 5212 Chelsea St, just off of La Jolla Blvd. After Googling that address, I noticed that the house was listed with multiple real estate agents. Not surprisingly, the listing had recently been taken off the market. Note that all of the furniture has been moved out of the house per the article. So, here are some pictures from the Facebook album under Titan Movers (and a couple from some of the real estate listings). This is a view of the entryway, with the front door just off to the right. This is the back of the house. And if you go up another level, there is a rooftop tennis court. This is a view looking north from the back balcony. And this is a view looking south from the same balcony. Check out more house pictures (and a lot of the movers) here. It looks like they had a lot of stuff to move out of the house. My guess is that the basement will be the production area, so the movie theater and other things will not be seen during the season. But I was still not convinced that this was, indeed, the house, although I had heard from two separate sources that San Diego was the location for this season. So I had a spy check things out...isn't it awesome that our moderation team is spread out all over the country? :curtianpeek: (Photo credits: vevmo.com) Lots of furniture has been moved in: The wooden figures that were by the front door have been removed, and it looks like new carpet will be going in. There has also been a camera system put in. Looks like they're doing a bit of repainting: And they have set up some lighting in the back of the house: So, there you have it. Please keep your angry thoughts about how Real World is doing a third straight "Back to" season in this thread.
I saw the same article a couple of days ago and I thought that house pretty lame but these pictures have really changed my mind. Not sure how I feel about them going back to San Diego though. (I'm not a huge fan of California).
Beautiful house! I really love the pool and the rooftop tennis court is just amazing Too bad nothing can top the original RW:SD. IMO the best cast in RW history
I kinda looks like the house Bin Laden was hiding in....well, just the outside.
I just noticed the garage, I bet they're going to have a cast car this year. :D
I forgot to add: this was on one of the real estate websites.
Private Oceanfront Retreat with over 9000 sq ft of amenities. (4)luxury Master Bedroom Suites perfect for Race Season Rental. Guest, Media Room, Private Office, Wine Cellar, Spectacular Ocean views from every floor. Rooftop Tennis Deck, pool&spa, sauna, BBQ w/outdoor dining, elevator to all levels. Contemporary glass walls with formal Living/Dining areas. Utilities w/cap & on-site housekeepers included, use of electrical car for in-town driving. Rolls Royce w/chauffeur & Private Jet available.
Now, I doubt they get the housekeepers, electrical car, Rolls, or private jet...but this house seems like it's already set up for a RW season. Four master bedrooms definitely open up the possibility that we could be going back to 8 strangers. 9000 square feet makes it one of the smaller RW houses, if not the smallest (minus the Vegas penthouses).
That house is sick. I actually don't mind this whole "Back to" trend they seem to be in. I just hope they can cast 7 (or 8) people as fun and likeable as the original San Diego cast.
Amazing house!! I love it!
The house is beautiful as usual!
Is it bad that my first thought was "Wow, I hope we get to see the hillside collapse and the house slide into the ocean"? That would be some awesome reality TV right there. It'd be super cool if someone was in the confessional whinning about something and the house just splits behind them so the backdrop is suddenly the outside.

beautiful house.. great to finally get a confirmation for the location :) maybe the 4 bedrooms are just 3 for one room, two rooms of two people, and a guest room.. right? when is it expected to begin filming? July? for a November premiere? thanks for the update molds!

This is definitely my the best Real World house I've seen for a long while. I wasn't really impressed with the suite for Back to Las Vegas.
Cool house. Love the back, especially.
This is definitely my the best Real World house I've seen for a long while. I can't wait to see the house with the cast, especially their reactions upon arrival. I'm going to be very jealous.
Wow what a house
Love it.. for some reason I like it more when the cast has their own house, rather than being in a penthouse. Much more spacey and more freedom I'd say.

Does anyone know what the largest Real World house was? From my memory, the Philadelphia, Austin, and Denver houses all seemed huge.
Does anyone know what the largest Real World house was? From my memory, the Philadelphia, Austin, and Denver houses all seemed huge.
The Austin house is over 22,000 square feet but only 8,000 of it were used for filming. The Philly house is almost 15,000 square feet, unsure how much of it was used for filming. The Denver house was from a building that was over 21,000 square feet, unsure how much of it was used for filming. The Sydney house was originally 20,000 square feet.
I should probably reclarify a bit: This house is almost 9,000 square feet. Some of that won't be available to the cast. It's probably going to be more like 6,000 square feet or a little less. Compared to the other places that were originally houses, it would be one of the largest. DC - 10,800 (only 2 floors used) Key West - almost 6,000 Paris - 5,382 Hawaii - 4,095 Miami - 4,976 Los Angeles - 6,000
Beautiful house, I love the view.
I feel like this is said a lot, but this is easily the nicest house they've ever had.
I think I only ever saw 1 episode of it but the Philadelphia house seemed like a huge house compared to other seasons I've seen and was really nice.
I was in the Philadelphia house (after the real world.) It is very large.
******* Awesome but I will always have a special place for Frankie's bed and vomit. lol.
There seems to be a lot of glass making up this house, very large windows and a lot of them too, as well as in the living room there's the whole row of glass along the upper level. Obviously it would******* any of that broke, but it'd be fun to watch on tv lol. And is that a bar in their living room? Wow...how convenient.
WOW, this house looks just like MY awesome bachelor pad... ha ha yeah !! :smoke:
Awesome house!! Love the outside, and the inside is nice too! I'm so jealous; I wish I could live there. Also, speaking of house sizes, does anyone remember the San Francisco house? I was watching it online recently and was surprised because it seemed really tiny.
