I guess I spoke to soon. Pedey is the bestest and I want to play cribbage with him.
Is it just me or does Joba look like he has gained a lot of weight?
Is it just me or does Joba look like he has gained a lot of weight?
Nah, "Joba the hut" looks like he has for as long as I can remember...Although, I thought Princess Leia killed him? Obviously not.
If Barry Bonds doesn't get into the HOF, it is highly unlikely that Big Mac will ever have his day in Cooperstown. Besides the juiced homerun totals, McGwire doesn't have hall of fame numbers. Heck, Mark Loretta has more hits than he does! He was a below average defensive first baseman and his postseason numbers are deplorable. Let's not forget, Roger Maris is not in the Hall and he held the single season homerun record for decades (McGwire's only claim to fame for three years.) I don't think McGwire will ever be inducted, first because as a whole his overall numbers are par for the course (beyond a PEDs inflated single stat) and secondly because of the taint he brought to the game.
Maris had a 5-year stretch of good season, but his career totals aren't impressive. McGwire was excellent from his first full season to his last, only slowed by mid-career injuries, and did everything a power hitter should. My problem with the whole performance-enhancing thing is some (like McGwire) will be punished, while other, perhaps even some pitchers, will not. Secondly, both Bonds and McGwire were excellent before they bulked up, and I believe certainly in Bonds' case that he would be HoF worthy without using anything.
p.s. I remember an interview a long time ago with Barry Bonds in which he in his egotistical manner said he was the greatest left fielder ever to play the game, not even able to think of someone of comparable talent. That was the day I began hating him.
Bonds might be the greatest LF ever though :) ps: Sucks the Red Sox are doing terrible. I've been a fan of them since '89 (Greenwell/Boggs/Clemens yeauh!). With a roster like they got though, they will turn it around.
I'm watching 60 minutes and just learned that Albert Pujols was taken with the 402nd pick of the 1999 draft. Wow. That's what I call a steal.
Bonds might be the greatest LF ever though
He might be in the top 5, but barely and that's before factoring in the disgrace he brought to the game.

It's good to see someone like Pujols in the game. Very refreshing.
I caught that too. It's good to see someone like Pujols in the game. Very refreshing.
I didn't realize how intimately involved he was in philanthropic pursuits. That was a great story about his 400th HR bat and I come away from watching that piece with a great impression of him as a human being.
Josh Beckett has looked terrific through 5 innings tonight. I realize it is only 5 innings, but if this is a sign of things to come from Beckett for the whole season, it makes Boston even MORE dangerous than they already are.
Yesssssss. Finally!
I still get excited every time Dropkick comes on to play Papelbon onto the field.
That's the way it's done. Great pitching and lots of base runners (although I would have liked to have seen a few more of them score.) We take the weekend series against the Yankees and start digging ourselves out of the cellar one series at a time.
Finally a game I can be proud of from the Sox. Well, minus the bajillion people left on base but I'll over look that for now. Beckett, Pedey and Papelbon were all in fine form. Hopefully Gonzales hasn't hurt his hand too badly but I think it's good that he wasn't out of the game after the hit tonight.
I still get excited every time Dropkick comes on to play Papelbon onto the field.
I get excited every time they play Dirty Water. :D
Hopefully Gonzales hasn't hurt his hand too badly but I think it's good that he wasn't out of the game after the hit tonight.
I can not believe he did not leave the game. That look SERIOUSLY painful.
Maris had a 5-year stretch of good season, but his career totals aren't impressive. I dont really put that much weight on power numbers and steroids but without these drugs mark would've of have been able to stay on the field a full season, and would of had to retire even earlier. Manny though is easily a hofer as is bonds.
Yikes... Rangers' Josh Hamilton breaks bone in shoulder And we all know those broken bones never heal on schedule. He'll be lucky to be back to 100% by the All Star break (or this season.)
That is rough for the Rangers. They were really on a roll and I like Josh Hamilton.
I've been a big fan of Josh Hamilton since he was in High School and drafted 1st overall by the Rays (being I lived in the Triangle at that time.) I hope he gets back soon as his story is great and he is good for baseball. [strike]On to lighter news: Cy Lester is looking sharp.[/strike]
Jerry Remy is awesome, lol. He was calling a shot by Youk that went foul and he said, "It hooked and hooked and hooked and hooked - foul" Don Orsillo adds laughing, "That's four hooks." Remy quickly shoots back, "And Charlie Sheen is in town tonight, haha."
Love Remy! So glad he is back and healthy. I don't get to hear him commentate nearly enough since most of the NESN games are blocked out for me but it's amazing how much more I enjoy listening to those two than say, the ridiculously boring and non-sensical team of Buck and McCarver.
Sucks bad for J Hamilton, I'm sure he's tired of being called injury prone, but it just keeps happening, tough aggressive call by the third base coach to call him home, ham called it a stupid play. He won't swing a bat for a month, but at least Chris Davis is getting called up, hes batting .500 and had a 3 homer game a few days ago in triple A
I'm amazed that Price is throwing 97mph easy at pitch 85. Well, not that amazed with the talent he has... This guy is going to be a superstar, but probably not with the Rays.
Greetings from the other side of the world! For all the Boston fans here, cheer them on for me. The internet here is too slow to see games or highlights so I have to make do with box scores, and I'd kill for the chance to see them play 1 game, win or lose. I suppose I will make up for lost time when I can watch their late September/October games. :victory: Kinda feel bad for Hamilton, although he did admit that he ran when he didn't feel right about it, then executed a less-safe technique to try to squeeze the run. Hopefully the Rangers can tread on their position until he returns.

If another big bat in the lineup like Cruz or Kinsler goes down while Hamilton is hurt the Rangers are screwed and unfortunately they both have their fair share of injuries.
Whoo hoo! Sox have a winning streak going! ;)
Yay! It's a miracle!
I love the smell of baseball in the morning!

Ellsbury at 4 HRs in 15 games. Looks like he just might have some power. :D
I guess the Sox finally realized everyone else was laughing at them/us.. and holy cow Dice-K goes 7 innings! Also good to note - Okajima back, hopefully he will take a cue from our other pitchers and regain his form. As the (currently) only lefty reliever, we will need him to be sharp.
