Unfortunately yes. There was Real World before and there will be one after. There could be a RW without the challenges but if RW ever ended without challenges, it would just end. (IMO)
I don't know about this. I really think that the challenges and the real world go together now.
I don't know about this. I really think that the challenges and the real world go together now.
The problem is that not many of the recent Real World cast members have brought much to the show, nor shown interest in coming back again. Since Sydney, we've lost the entire Hollywood cast, got 3 people from Brooklyn, a bunch of Cancun people that no one like, and 2 people from DC. If they wanted to continue the challenges like this, they'd have to bring back Road Rules since eventually they'd just run out of cast members. Sure there's still the future, but there's gonna come a point where Real World needs to produce better cast members in order for the challenge to continue. Just look at Cutthroat where 7/30 of the cast was from Fresh Meat 2. If we get a lot of FM2 people on all the future shows (which probably will happen) people will just even more sick of them and then we're just left with the regulars that people still like.
Great ratings!! :) I'm excited about it going up. I don't think a lot of the newcomers want to do challenges because of how restricted and not fun it is now. Before a lot of them came and had a vacation pretty much. It's different now, it's not fun. For the realworlders to want to come back, they need to have it like it was before. The only realworlders who come back are the ones who REALLY want the money.
If this season can hold into the 2M total, it will be quite the coup compared to other recent seasons. As for the Challenges, if they went then RW would maybe go back to half hour episodes so they would stretch their season run times to keep the flame going. Part of the Challenge issue for me is that the people who do come back are ********** and while perhaps physicaslly challenging, they are not that interesting of competitions really.
im glad the contract was renewed

I think the casting is just fine. Look at FM2 and FM, almost all of them are boring and don't add anything to the challenges. But because there's so many of them that come on at one time, they're bound to find a few good personalities/challengers. Maybe they should put it in the contract saying that every RW cast member is required to participate in at least 1 challenge lol.
Several of the Vegas season seem interested in Challenges. Maybe if they can bring ratings to RW they can do it for the Challenges. There definitely seems to be a different quality to this season's cast than in recent past seasons--notably for me is that the Vegas cast doesn't seem like they have been stabbing each other in the back, creating faux drama, or wrapped up in positioning themselves to be the top booked talent out of the run. I find them to be the most genuine cast ever thus far in that they are who they are--messed up in ways, but people instead of wanna be celebrities.

From NOLA2 Jemmye and Knight are the only ones who seem to think their are brangelina. And the DC cast all seem to be over the whole reality thing, whereas this Vegas cast are gonna be taking up appearances opportunities left and right for the next year if they can. Second, before this season aired Adam and Naomi have made fan pages and fan sites for themselves lol. I have no problem with that, im just saying they are definitely gonna try and get as much from this 15 minutes as possible.

This is the first RW to have its premiere and pre-premiere ad campaign during a JS season, so it probably has JS to thank for its high ratings. JS2 premiered during an in-progress NOLA2 season, leading to a boost, but missing out on having its initial campaign of ads during MTV's biggest show.

It felt to me like some of the more recent seasons, Brooklyn most notably, the cast seemed more focused during filming on how great they were going to be than just enjoying the time they were in the house. Likewise, all the over the top disproportional drama in some seasons feel more like a contrived way of getting screentime. I just haven't felt it that way this season. Regardless of why they do it or what they are doing now, the relationships seem more organic with Vegas.

And every time Dustin opens his mouth i swear he's reading a script or had just rehearsed what he's gonna say in front of the mirror. This cast feels the most fake to me, that's part of the reason why it's getting the ratings. No one wants to watch people be real, they want drama.
That's fine. Reasonable minds differ. As for Dustin, I suspect he probably thinks ahead about what he is going to say most of the time and then says it so it may be less spontaneous feeling. Could be he had a speech impediment and that is a coping skill to help him find his words; could be that he is just being guarded to make sure he doesn't let something slip cause he already said he was fearful of how he was going to share his past; etc. I do that sometimes because I can think of about three different ways to say something at any given time and I have to stop to make sure what I say doesn't become something totally different by accident as his brain autocorrects, if you will. A conversation in one of the dailies made me think that someone had a speech impediment, but I don't recall if it was Dustin or Adam--it was something about the way they said something.

I would think of 2 different ways to say something and while trying to relay my message, both sentences seem to merge themselves together creating is incoherent hybrid sentence which just makes me look dumb, and it happens ALL the time. But Dustin's words do seem a bit formulated as if he thought them up before hand. Like for example, his argument with "Mike Mike" seemed like he had about 6 premeditated sentences that he wanted to say and whenever Mike said something, he would go into his bag of thoughts and pull something out that he had prepared.

If I am going to have a sensitive discussion, I try to have a few thoughts ready so it becomes a conversation and not just an emotional venting session. Based on all available content, Dustin seemed to try to give Mike time so he probably did have an idea of what he wanted to discuss. Mike stepping up into his face like that pretty much turned it into a confrontation instead of a conversation. Maybe this is where BMP has found its balance that explains the ratings. Some people watch for an emotional connection, and the analytical stuff is contrived. I watch for an analytical connection, so most of the emotional stuff seems contrived to me. This season presents us with both sides of the coin, so maybe that is why its ratings are holding higher--it has appeal to both types of viewers.
Real World Las Vegas (MTV, 10pm) - 1.690 million viewers - 1.2/2 HH - 1.1/3 A18-49 - 2.1/6 W18-34 - 0.8/3 T12-17 via
This is not a good sign I guess.
This was a bad episode in my opinion...the previews were boring just as the episode was. 1.7 for a pretty bad episode is still pretty good and with the looming drama of Adam next week, I would think we would see ratings back towards 2 million hopefully
I loved last nights episode.
I hope this isn't because of Jersey Shore ending. They need to keep repeating this show, this was a really good episode last night.
My guess would be that the episode was advertised as a cheesy hook up episode when it really wasn't.
had these 4 seconds been the promo we'd be seeing 5m+ lol
had these 4 seconds been the promo we'd be seeing 5m+ lol
Not sure with a kid riding the sheep, but Dustin only lasting 1 1/2 seconds was priceless since basically that is how long it would take a paraplegic to hit the dirt as well.
Episode 6 Ratings Real World Las Vegas (MTV, 10pm) - 2.022 million viewers - 1.4/2 HH - 1.2/3 A18-49 - 2.2/6 W18-34 - 1.3/5 T12-17 It only picked up a little bit in the A18-49 demo... but its cool to see that some of the viewers returned!
Good news. Maybe they will keep up with more exciting previews and shy away from hook-up ads. I think it helps.
I'm almost sure that aside from the good casting.. and entertaining storylines ( castmate hookups galore, closeted **** star, ex juvie with anger issues, gorgeous Down-to-..”party” ladies ).. the RW is posting it's best numbers this season due mainly for the Vegas scenario and all it entails.. which makes me worry that they will stop trying to do with the party season / serious season interchange they had been having and just go with party seasons in party enviroments.. Vegas, Miami, Acapulco, etc.. : (

improving Real World Las Vegas (MTV, 10pm, 61 minutes) - 2.165 million viewers - 1.5/3 HH - 1.3/4 A18-49 - 2.5/7 W18-34 - 1.1/4 T12-17
Looks like the trend is about 2.1 million viewers. Btw, I honestly liked DC season. That Andrew kid was hilarious! I'm kinda surprised actually that it did so bad. NOLA just sucked. I mean, the only funny/gross thing that happened was the toothbrush/cigarettes/pillow incident. Other than that, it was like watching paint dry.
Just a question, but do the ratings for this season matter anymore because the contract was renewed.
