The cards have the cast member's names on them, among other things.
The script she reads is on the teleprompter. Smart cast members "read ahead" and know what she is going to ask. Sometimes a few seconds of preparation is all that is necessary for an OK answer to appear polished and even funny. There have been a few people in the past were were really good to this (and didn't tell others their secret).
I'm pretty sure from where the cast members sit it's hard to read the teleprompter. At the FM2 reunion, they were pretty far back on the stage in comparison to where Maria sits. She doesn't also directly follow the teleprompter and it doesn't tell her 75-85% of the questions she asks. It usually just has the main questions to open up the conversation.
I've heard these shows take hours to tape so I assume they can pretty much ask 1000 questions and follow ups if they want and we still only get to see the few "behind the scenes" stories MTV wants us to see.
Looks like Teck is in the new Bud Light commercial:

It depends upon the setup. but during the Brooklyn reunion, they could read the teleprompter. During a break I stood on the stage talking to a cast member and the exec producer and could easily read the teleprompter. The same was true for several challenge reunions tapings I had previously attended.
Maria is clearly better that some past hosts, and TJ couldn't read a line cleanly to save his life. Maria is also very good with taking quick direction from the control room and knows how to adjust to the flow of cast conversation -- when it's been a season she enjoyed. (She is candid about this backstage). Still, these things are seriously scripted by necessity because the entire show is built around the video clips the producers believe best tell the story from MTV's perspective (not BMPs or the cast's point of view).
Personally I like Maria and she does WAY better that Lyndsey Rodrigues who had trouble remembering names. That's the easiest part of the job. Plus Maria seems like a fan of show which makes it seem like she really interested in the answers the cast gives.

Update: Since his stint on The Real World Los Angeles back in '93, surfer guy Aaron (far right) has been hard at work jumping from company to company. Recent press releases report that he has been named Vice President of SkullCandy. He currently resides in the greater San Diego area.
LOL. I have something witty to say about Aaron but the mods will get me. glad to see he's in good shape.
I think someone on this thread mentioned she works for G4.
I know she used to host a show for them but I haven't seen that show on in ages? Is she still on it?
Norman update...

It has been mentioned, but Julie is married with a child. No idea where they are though.

I don't know if he was mentioned already in this thread, if he was then I apologize, but where did Patrick from RR: X-Treme go? I've always wanted to see him on a challenge and felt like he could dominate but he never did one. Does anyone know why he hasn't done a challenge or where he is at now? It would be cool if he popped out of nowhere and does the next challenge or so since a lot of the people who have never watched Road Rules won't know who he is.

What does she mean by snunk Spencer on set? I don't remember seeing him on Gauntlet 2. And when did she drive a race car and Victoria Falls?
Pretty high profile role for Jamie from San Diego
Stephen is getting his MBA from Drexel University . Alex, well none of them are quite certain as to what he is up to??????
He is in Scottsdale, Arizona training to be a manager at Oregano's Pizza Bistro. I work there, at the Gilbert location. My good friend works at the Old Town Scottsdale store where Alex is and I met him. Didn't say anything about the RW though.
I would love to see them on a challenge together.
I definitely agree, even though I wasn't really a fan of Isaac, I think it'd be interesting to see them together, especially because Cohutta will probably come back looked at as a threat.
I also read about Jamie yesterday or the day before, but I think it's great she's doing so well. With her starring in Sorority Row, having a cameo in Chuck and Larry, and now she's gonna have a pretty sufficient role in The Hangover 2. Good for her.
The Real World‘s Matt Smith’s Roadside Delivery

The “true story” of how Matt Smith‘s newborn daughter entered the world is one he will surely never forget!
The Real World: New Orleans alum assisted in delivering Stella St. Clare Smith by the side of the San Tan freeway just outside Tempe, Arizona, after wife Candyce‘s labor progressed more quickly than anticipated on Thursday, Oct. 21.
Weighing in at 7 lbs., 11 oz., baby girl was born without complication and both mom and Stella are doing well — despite the chaotic delivery!
According to Smith, at around 10 p.m. Candyce’s contractions were two hours apart but by midnight it became clear that their daughter’s arrival was imminent.
After carrying his wife to the family car, Smith began the seven-mile drive to the hospital; When Candyce told her husband to pull over just a few moments later, however, the couple realized they were out of time.
“I opened the door, the phone on 911 clenched between my ear,” Smith, 31, explains to The Arizona Republic. “[Candyce was] very calm, but you could tell that this was not our plan.”
With a push, Stella arrived — “when I heard my baby crying, I knew she was breathing,” Smith recalls – and paramedics soon followed. With mom and baby both safe and sound, the proud new papa admits he was overcome by a wave of emotion.
“It was late at night, under a full moon,” Smith says. “I watched them put my wife on a gurney and lifted my baby into the ambulance.”
As for baby girl’s name, the couple opted for Stella over suggestions by nurses that Santana would be more fitting given the location of her birth.
“We’d rather have a freeway named after her than name her after a freeway,” Smith jokes. “I felt very blessed and was thanking God that we made it.”
