They started with 7 cast members and a half hour format. It should have stayed that way.
I feel like they'll be going back to the half hour format once the show is one its last string. I'll use a quote from Laurel, "The Real World is hanging over a cliff by a thread." Something like that :D
They should go back to 7 cast members and a half hour format. At least try it, I mean, the show is going to die soon anyway.
MTV will not get rid of their best series. The Hills will be done soon and Jersey Shore will die down, if they don't renew the contract they're screwed!
It just seems like the longer seasons almost defined the era of that time, while 8 people is just too many people to give a **** about...
The last three seasons there was no trip/vacation. Anyone have any idea why?
The last three seasons there was no trip/vacation. Anyone have any idea why?
I am going with BUDGET.
I heard on the Real World it used to be ages 18 to 28 to apply on the show. Was that true, and if so, why did they change it?

I don't know if MTV would ever CANCEL the show, I just think they would put it on hiatus and bring it back when needed or if needed. If they choose not to renew after 26, when they realize how BAD their current reality shows are, they'll bring it back. I don't feel like Road Rules is cancelled, I just don't think that there's any reason to bring it back due to how much better the challenges have been doing. But I don't know how true that is now.
Real World has been the staple of their reality shows with Road Rules and then the Challenges. Most of the rest of the **** they throw up can be dumped.

Unfortunately, they just don't know any better. Most don't even know that MTV used to play nothing but music videos until the Real World aired.
Very good job there guys :) First impressions aren't everything though, so I'll reserve final judgment until later. Actually excited this season though at the moment though.
No offense or disrespect to anyone here, but it would be nice to see some black on these shows on occassion. Last I remember was Jazmine in Cancun. Let's face it, the name itself "Real World - Cancun" has sort of hypocritical sound to it. People go there for vacation.

Before that was Devyn on Brooklyn, and Brittini, Brianna, Will, Nick, and that other d-bag on Hollywood. No one from Sydney, but before that, Stephen and Tyrie on Denver. Not to mention, Eric from this season is half black. So that's pretty frequent if you ask me...

The Real World needs to cast an HBIC type black chick.

Yes you are correct, Hollywood was loaded but in regards to women, there has been DC with 0, and New Orleans with 0. That's two major metropolitan areas where those women comprise of 1/3 to 1/2 of the female population. As far as black men, they're always represented sans Cancun.

Just because there might be a larger black population in the city where the RW takes place doesn't mean they should have more in the cast. That's not really the point of the show...
[strike]neither iss it the point to treat races like token figures just to make sure theres one represented. it matters who comes out and the best personalities from those who come out and the people that will bring out the bes in each other not their color. and if you are saying they should put a black person on the show even if she didn't have the personality that fit the best just cuz she was black than thats basically backwards racism. isn't the point not to see color?[/strike] Neither is it the point to treat races like token figures just to make sure there's one represented. I think it takes a lot more to get a diverse group of people. I look at their religion, their socioeconomic background, who raised them, how many siblings do they have, what are their interests and life goals, did they grow up on a farm or in the heart of a city, etc...? If you ask me, skin color should be one of the least deciding factors in how a cast is picked and what makes them a good cast. Then when BMP does choose people of races other than caucasian we get all those ridiculous complaints and arguments that they aren't the "right" type of black/asian/whatever or they don't act/look like how a "real" such and such should. Right, because your skin color automatically decides how you have to act for the rest of your life, I forgot. And why would you want a cast be the exact same make up of the city they visit? Isn't the point to thrust these people into a completely new experience and see how they get along? What they make of the situation and what they take away from being in a new and different place? If you want the cast to be like the city then just watch a documentary about it not The Real World. If you want to have a better Real World experience I'd suggest getting over people's skin color and look deeper at what makes them who they are. There is a lot more to diversity than just color. (And BTW, I'm not saying this is the most diverse cast ever by these standards, just that we shouldn't get all up in arms when BMP doesn't meet your color representation quota every season.)

I give props to the 1st woman of color on Real World: Heather B! Let us not forget Tami from RW: LA who chose to go through with an abortion on the show so the aftereffects would be known. Or Sharon from RW: London who showed that the color of your skin is not as indicative of who you are as much as where & how you were raised are.
I just realized something interesting.. Hollywood and Brooklyn both had someone named Sarah. Cancun and DC both had someone named Emily (or Emilee) Now, DC and New Orleans both had someone named Ashley (or Ashlee)
[strike]they are all very common names haha[/strike] They are all very common names, haha.
So like going with the whole Real World and different races thing, has their ever been an Asian Male? I thought i saw someone write that before, but it's really strange if in fact that is true. I wonder why?I mean i know its all about the cast relationship but you would think that in 20 seasons you'd find a match. [strike]<3 MP[/strike]

I think Steven (puzzle master from the Quest/Gaunlet) had some asian in him.
There hasn't been a full Asian male though.
