Fresh Meat II - Ratings

Seriously people, don't worry about a 1.3 rating. I'm sorry, but it isn't HORRIFIC like BR says it is. Granted, it is a decline from the past challenges. However, it's still doing better than most reality shows that have been on cable over the past 5 years. Plus, it really doesn't cost all that much to produce. My point is that a 1.3 rating isn't going to send the show off packing yet. If the show ever gets below a 1.0, then it's time to start worrying. I believe it's still the 3rd highest rated show on MTV, but don't quote me on that one.
However, it's still doing better than most reality shows that have been on cable over the past 5 years.
Survivor got 12.31 viewers last week. Or are you only talking about "cable" cable? Because Dog the Bounty Hunter still got half a million more viewers than this week's FM episode (which aired at the same time slot). Ratings have been around or below 1.5 million for a year now. Low ratings will not be sending executives running to renew the contract. No contract, no challenges. Simple as that.

To be honest, Teen Moms and 16 and Pregnant are a lot better than Real World or Fresh Meat. I'd rather see those shows continue than the Challenges or The Real World...
what a pity - ppl like watch that ;( tastes are different...

They really need to bring back that spark or interest people had on the real world. Imagine a show with someone whose racist, atheist, a very religious person, etc. Can you imagine those extreme stories being told. I also feel the challenges should be more physical. They tend to be more exciting, and interesting (ex.Wes vs Derrick). Whatever they did with RW:Hollywood, and The Gauntlet 3/The duel, should be brought back.
I think the show should air on another night...it's up against some heavy competition (that being South Park.) Last week South Park had 3.3 million viewers.
Well the whole idea of having another Fresh Meat was ridiculous in the first place, so I'm not surprised that the ratings aren't that great. They should have just had a new concept of a challenge with more RW Cancun people since that season recently ended and viewers probably want to watch a challenge with people that they are familiar with and watched them on Real World.

Oopsie!
Familiar with...I don't know too many people who watched the cancun season.
I would actually prefer they stop adding new people at this point.
I really like the fresh meat.

well I am just waiting for Season 20! hopefully a lot of new people get casted.
due to FM2 poor ratings, does this mean the challenges are going bye bye soon?

once the Challenges and the Real World are gone you won't be seeing much of me well except if I get casted for VR's.
If the Challenges stop, I have literally no reason to watch MTV. do you ever have one of those moments..... "****, I wish Kellyanne was on this show"...I do on FM2.
If the Challenges stop, I have literally no reason to watch MTV. do you ever have one of those moments..... "Damn, I wish Kellyanne was on this show"...I do on FM2.
Uhhhhh nope, never.
I wonder how much of the shows' ratings problems are due to lack of advertising and how much is due to general disinterest. I know a lot of people who watch tons of reality tv and the general consensus among them is that either they used to watch a lot of the real world and grew out of it in favor of more "game show" style reality series (the ones without drama), or they are younger and consider the real world something of a dinosaur compared to newer fare. So I have to believe that advertising isn't really the problem (I'm sure just about everyone in the U.S. has heard of The Real World); rather, due to potentially inaccurate generalizations, they avoid it without giving it a chance (sort of the same way most people disdain WWE programming).

Such a shame. This season so far is really interesting. I do have to admit, DC was the first season I skipped in a long time. I missed the RW, so I guess that's why I'm finding FM2 really good.

"****, I wish Kellyanne was on this show"...I do on FM2.
I can't say I agree about the KA thing, but yeah. No challenges... no MTV for me. But my question is, is MTV taking into account views from the internet? I'm in college and don't have a TV, so I watch everything online. And I'm sure a lot of other students do too. So who knows? Maybe they take that into account.

I mean MTV doesn't promote the challenges like they do the other shows. And people maybe are just tuning out now.
I hate to tell you guys but fights and ******** teen drama is not what brings in ratings. Good television is what brings in ratings and that is not good tv. I think the only season of the Real World that has actually worked most recently is Brooklyn. It was a real show, they brought back the storytelling aspects of just getting to know the people vs. ******** drunken fighting and hookups. That's why that season was so successful. They went immediately back into the drunken **** the very next season with Cancun, which was beyond idiotic. The same thing is happening with RR/RW challenge... they need to focus on the storytelling aspect vs. the drama. Drama means nothing if you don't give a **** about the people.

Did you hear of this show called the Jersey shore? It pulls in about 4.5 million an episode.
They can thank those good ratings on the guy who punched out snookie...
They can thank those good ratings on the guy who punched out snookie...
Which is drama and fighting, which proves my point.
Which is drama and fighting, which proves my point.
I hate to tell you but the reason taht the jersey shore is so popular is because it mocks guidos. It's a hilarious look at how trashy people are... it's a satire. RR/RW is just trashy and they're trying to treat it like a legitimate show. It's not mocking these trashy people it's glorifying them which is why no one wants to watch it but trashy people and immature teenagers. Bottom line. If the Jersey Shore was popular because of it's fighting and drama, then why isn't hte RW/RR more popular because there is twice as many fights and drama... I mean your theory doesn't even make logical sense.

In the 19 seasons of the challenge, and the 24 seasons of the real world, there may have been 15 fights in all the seasons. Sounds logical to me.
