She enjoys casual sex with no commitment, and she has a preference for black men (until she meets fellow roommate, Knight), which is about as scandalous as it gets in her heavily Southern Baptist community. Jemmye is recently free of an abusive relationship. Her mother Alice is her best friend and they have no secrets from one another, to the point where Jemmye frequently discusses the intimate details of her sex life with her mom. But one secret she hasn't told her mom is about a past relationship that haunts her to this day. For most people, Mardi Gras is a one day affair, but something tells us Jemmye will be collecting beads all season." via MTV Cast Bio A senior at Mississippi State University, originally from Aberdeen, Mississippi. She is majoring in communications (with an emphasis on broadcasting) and minoring in political science. She is a member of the Sigma Alpha Lambda National Leadership and Honors Organization, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, a member of the Community and Governmental Relations Board of the Student Association and president of the Pre-Law Society. She was valedictorian of her high school class at Aberdeen High School, and was also voted Mississippi's Wendy Heisman State High School Athlete of the Year in 2006. She interned this past summer for a company called Technology Transition Corporation, an energy corporation in Washington DC. She also interned at Terpstra Associates, a public affairs firm. She calls herself a "Yellow Dog Democrat" and was in DC for Obama's inauguration address. From what we've been told, she is reasonably short and has a nose ring. Excellent job Moldsie!!!
Guess it's not hard to figure out -- she's the one who was affected by Katrina.
Guess it's not hard to figure out -- she's the one who was affected by Katrina.
I don't know about that, Aberdeen is in Northern Mississippi.
Guess it's not hard to figure out -- she's the one who was affected by Katrina.
If I had to guess which "category" she fell under, it would be "A firm believer in a cause, condition or social issue they care deeply about or are personally affected by" because she is a southern Democrat (which is fairly rare) and according to this article, "she takes it upon herself to try to proselytize her fellows".
speaking of categories, do they always broadcast what specific 8 categories they are looking for? They never just go with the flow or pick someone who wasn't a pre-determined "character?"
So I guess this whole cast isn't just a bunch of drunk low-lifes like the Cancun season...
Finally, we got our first girl!! And she looks good!
awesome job. and i like her already, seems very driven.

I just have to say...what kind of name is Jemmye?! lol

I wonder how her name is pronounced. Do you guys think it's 'Jem-mee' or 'Jem-Eye'? Could it really be pronounced like the name 'Jimmy'? Hmm... :p She looks cute, though! Really cute :)
I REALLY hope it's not pronounced like "Jem-eye".
You mean like Forrest Gump?? Oh wait...that was Jenny. But I'm sure it could be close. I just hope it's not pronounced Gem-mee.
You mean like Forrest Gump?? Oh wait...that was Jenny. But I'm sure it could be close. I just hope it's not pronounced Gem-mee.
Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking of too. ;)
I REALLY hope it's not pronounced like "Jem-eye".
That would be almost as annoying as Jonna being pronounced "Jon-AYE."
I actually hope it is pronounced all forest gump sounding like that, that would be cool!
If you Google her name, theres ALOT of stuff about her (college and community wise) she seems to be very involved and active
That would be almost as annoying as Jonna being pronounced "Jon-AYE."
Aw, c'mon, I actually love Jonna's name and its uniqueness. I'm biased, though, as I love Endurance xD
Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking of too. ;)
I was thinking, maybe with a Southern twang it'd be more like a Jeh-mee.
If she's going into broadcasting then I already love her. :) Broadcasting majors are BA.
it is pronounced Jim- ee lol
I thought they were "turned off this season by people going into the entertainment industry" (quoted from Damien Furberg). If she is a broadcasting major and Hollywood is a singer then I guess they didn't get too far with that pledge. ha.
She is pretty and might be the best looking girl this season, interesting name Jemmye. She stays in Mississippi as a student thats not too far from New Orleans.
So excited. I have given up all hopes on the Real World. Brooklyn a bust, Hollywood sucked, and D.C. I vowed not to waste my time watching D.C. anymore. I am excited to see a smart person on the show again. It has been a really long time. My favorite seasons are the ones with smart people, who went to great colleges. I would love to see more cast member like Flora and Melissa(Hot) from Miami, Kaia(Hot) from Hawaii, and Parisa (Girl next door Hot) from Sydney and Wes from Austine. Jemmye is Hot. Can't wait. I hope this is a good season.
I just have to say...what kind of name is Jemmye?! lol
To dispel all rumors. It is pronounced like Jimmy and she is very driven and strong minded and no she was not affected severely by Katrina. Just a bunch of rain and a few fallen trees in Northern Mississippi
Jemmye is awesome. She's a southern democrat (liberal), and I know her from Mississippi State Univ. She was Pres of the Pre-Law Society, and was involved in an organization that took students to the 2009 Inauguration where she (we) met Sen. John McCain. YouTube - SMA Inauguration Trip 2009
She seems urban and loves hip hop.
I think she looks better with the golden hair.
I agree. Her bio makes her sounds like a cross (personality-wise) between Emily and Ashley (both DC). I think I'm most looking forward to seeing her.
Right. Also a mix between a Kelly Anne (Sydney), Brooke (Sydney) personality wise.
