24: Season 8 Discussion - Fox
I said I was done with 24 when I quit a little over half way through last season. I seem to generally enjoy the first 12 episodes (the initial crisis) and then lose interest as things switch gears and move to the second stage crisis, with all its repetitive gags. That being said, I have a huge, bordering on unhealthy, crush on Katee Sackhoff - so I guess I have to watch!
The story arc will involve Jack Bauer contending with assassination threats made during a peace conference between President of the United States Allison Taylor and President Omar Hassan of the fictional Islamic Republic of Kamistan. The series will relocate to New York and see the re-activation of CTU's New York Office.
YouTube - 24: Season 8 Trailer
The premiere was pretty good in my opinion. I'm excited for the next 2 hours to see how far this assassination plot is gonna go. I'm super excited it's back though.
Yeah, I like to see that they changed up the look and such for the final season though. The new set looks great and the new storyline is pretty crazy so far. Much better than season 6

The cast feels fresh, and even though the themes are right out of the season 1-7 playbook, there is enough there to get me to tune in tonight.
I'm honestly surprised with what little amount of people on these boards watch 24 I always thought it to be a pretty popular show.
I'm honestly surprised with what little amount of people on these boards watch 24 I always thought it to be a pretty popular show.
The board draws more of reality show crowd. I am through the first hour tonight and it is rocking! Of course, I always get excited about the first few episodes. I hope it can keep this pace for 21 more!
I'm honestly surprised with what little amount of people on these boards watch 24 I always thought it to be a pretty popular show.
I've always tried to get into this show, but always end up doing something else when the show comes on. My dad watches it though, and he loves it. Maybe I'll give it a shot on a rainy day.
Yeah, there's only four hours to catch up on right now and it's looking pretty great so far.
Yeeeeeeaaaaah! Screw Lost, it's all about 24! Renee is such a huge bag of CRAZY! Ahhh! I can't wait to see her self-destruct even more and watch Jack have to clean up her mess! Loved the exchanges during eps 1 and 2: First, when Chloe was asking Jack for help and he shot her down and she FINALLY used her "But I always helped you" card. Sad that Jack turned her down. Then, when Kim told him she understood and that if he could prevent anything from happening, he should do it....Kim's all grown up and I love the maturity in the role now, and I always love seeing Elisha! ITS SO GOOD TO BE BACCCCKKKK!
Agreed, although the back story is a little thin. As if the Renee from the beginning of season 7 was once a deep cover agent in the Russian Mob, lol. But, I'll let it slide just because of the enjoyment I got out of her sawing off that guys hand and JACK freaking out, haha.
Well i think they're just letting us know that Jack and his methods had a profound effect on her and it hit her really hard.
Well i think they're just letting us know that Jack and his methods had a profound effect on her and it hit her really hard.
Right, but she was a by the book straight laced FBI Agent when Jack met her in season 7, yet we need to believe she was a hardened deep cover insert into a Russian mafia ring prior to meeting Jack? It just doesn't fly. Sure, her new persona fits - but not the old one. Of course, I'll let it slide. ;)
Haha i can see what you mean. but the first four hours they've been great. What I like about this season is unlike prior seasons they didn't try to put it all out there in the first four episodes. LIke the season when the nuclear bomb went off killing all those people or the season with the terrorists in the airport.

Seasons 5, 6, and 7 ALL blew their load in the first four hours. This was interesting and laid out the map for TONS of different things to go wrong down the road without wasting the best stuff right off the bat. Last year, the entire Season 7 trailer was used in the first 4 hours an we had Tony in custody by the end of the 4th hour! Insanity, I tell you! Bacchus - I kind of agree with your point re: Renee's background...I guess they just really needed a way to bring her back, but overall, I'm glad to see Renee around. Especially a mentally unstable one! Jack's got his work cut out for him just with keeping her in line.
Yeah with Renee it's definately weird how the tables have turned and now Jack is trying to keep her in control where last season it was her.
Ratings were fairly solid, especially given the competition of the Golden Globes on Sunday, and the CBS lineup on Monday: The second night of 24’s two-part season premiere scored a solid 12.3 million viewers, down just 300,000 viewers from the previous night, according to preliminary overnight rating, but Jack Bauer’s biggest foe may be the growing audience for CBS’ Monday night line-up: Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother both posted 11.8 million viewers, a record for Theory and second-highest numbers for HIMYM.
Any predictions? I'm thinking Jack is going to end up having to let Renee die or kill her for some reason. I also think the blond egirl will lose her job and husband.

I don't like the path that we are seeing with "the blonde girl." I was hoping that she'd kill her ex boyfriend and cover it up...maybe there is still hope but no matter what it will probably end badly. Another good episode last night. The show has come out of the box with a variety of interesting storylines.
yeah I think other than Kate Sackhoff's storyline this season is becoming the best season yet of 24. Other than season 3 of course.

And turn into this huge ****** with a back story that was way deeper than we thought.... But nope. Just another extortion. haha Renee is a HOT MESS. I love it.
Yeah, this season I am really enjoying the character development.
But nope. Just another extortion. haha.
Hey, it worked for 7 seasons! But, I expect more being they brought in Katee Sackhoff. So, I think there will be a twist that I will enjoy. She wouldn't sign on to do this after reading the script if it was the standard extortion plot, er....I hope. Still, as a fan who quit mid season (but ended up watching the episodes after the fact) I think we have a much hotter season. The material is better and the actors are better. I see good things ahead.

Past 2-3 episodes have been a little slow...but the Dana storyline seems to at least be developing, and Renee keeps getting CRAZIER! ahhhh! The Uranium Rod plot needs a swift kick though....they need to add something compelling to it. And also give Chloe like 1,000 more lines.
You didn't think that that fight scene with Jack was sick? Most ****** scene ever seeing him pull the knife out of his stomach then throw it into the guys neck
Don't read this post unless you watched last night's ep....k cool. Last night's episode was REALLY good! Action packed! Jack getting abducted switches Jack to the driver's seat, and that's really what we needed. I do love Renee, but was feeling like Jack was a little left out - and this episode definitely caught him up to speed! I can't believe we have Sergei into custody already! Seems early for that to happen - and i KNEW the son would betray his father, it was only a matter of when....glad to see things happening QUICKLY, and I'm sure the twist/second part of the story is just upon the horizon here. I want more Chloe. And I also want to see Dana KILL those 2 ****ers! Season 8 is making me happy. Thanks for reading. kbye.
I absolutely love this season. It's not so action packed but that means that we have more to look forward to later. one question though. Did Jack get affected with the weapons grade uranium too? Because this season he seems to have super powers instead of being just a bad ***. He took a knife out of his stomach and threw it directly into a guys neck, after being tortured he messed one guy up. He's crazy this season.

24 was REALLY good this week, and the previews for next week look even betterrrrrrr Am I alone on this one now, guys? haha
I am watching! I just watch a few day after (conflicts with Chuck) and thus try to avoid the spoiler talk (i.e. what happened on Monday) and I lose the fresh impression after a day or two. Not sure how the main side story can work out well. I want it to, but don't see a good end game. I love Katee!
I think the plot is in dire need of a major twist! Needs something else to keep it progressing, in my opinion. 24 isn't totally riveting anymore, but I still enjoy it (obviously!).
