I am sad. Russ was an amazing player. He had everyone whipped. I am done with survivor again.
I am confused. Russ didn't know he lost till he was done filming all stars 2?
Obviously he didn't have everyone whipped or they would have voted for to win the million. So you are done with Survivor because some guy played one of the worst social games in Survivor history and didn't win? If Linda from Survivor Africa isn't on All-Stars next season I'm done with Survivor.

Technically he shouldn't have known he lost until a few hours ago.
If Linda from Survivor Africa isn't on All-Stars next season I'm done with Survivor.
I guess you're done then...
What were they thinking, she was such a classic player!!! I totally don't know how they passed on her!
Yeah, why on earth would they pass on someone who was voted out 4th on their season? They are just crazy.
Like what that Russell is a horrible player?
Well, since everyone thinks that Russell is amazing and you think he's awful, that obviously makes you delusional. Add on the fact that you like Linda, and you're batting 0 for 2. Would you like to add on that Thailand was the best season ever?
Obviously he didn't have everyone whipped or they would have voted for to win the million. He did have everyone whipped, but when they get eleminated they became bitter. Your honestly going to tell me that he wasn't the best player there? Well I'm not going to argue America and their votes have done that for me
And yes Russ was the only reason I watched this season. The last season I watched was season 1. I may watch again for Russ, but that will be all.
It makes me delusional that my opinion isn't that same as everyone else's? Hmmm....interesting. I think I've clearly backed up my argument of Russell being NOT being a great player. But most people can't see other people's side and therefore call them delusional which in reality just makes them delusional ;). I can see how people think Russell played a great game, because he made big bold moves and found 2 idols with no clue. I just happen to realize that Survivor is a social game and people normally won't vote for someone who threaten them, belittle them, and call them stupid so when you do those things numerous times I think clearly you aren't a very smart player. It seems he theory held true too :). Also I have no prefrence towards Linda simply because she left no impression really. As I have already mentioned I was being sarcastic. And of course Thailand wasn't my favorite season Fiji was.

But Fiji, eh? That's an interesting choice.
I'm just so confused as to how Natalie won and by a 7-2 margin? There had to be something that we did not see. Even after the final tribal council, I still thought Russell had it in the bag. Assuming the shown Natalie is the real Natalie, yeah she didn't deserve to win. I'm wondering if she truly did make a lot of good relationships, as she calls it, and then they voted for her because of that. I mean we didn't really see too much of that. I'm assuming Laura and her whole girl power mantra had something to with her vote for Natalie, and by default, Kelly and Monica's as well. I find it kind of funny that the two people Russell played the most are the only ones who voted for him. I don't understand how Erik was so pro-Natalie either. If Russell voted off Natalie instead of Jaison (I'm thinking that he thought that he could beat Natalie more easily than Jaison - even though he said it was to keep Brett from winning immunity), then the vote would've been totally different. I'd see Russell beating Jaison & Mick in a landslide if that were the case, but then again, I had him beating Natalie in a landslide as well, so who knows.

Russ had Jaison, Mick, Natalie, Shambo, & Jon whipped that was all. Only three of those people were on the jury. Clearly people are going to be bitter when you vote them out, so threatening them and belittling them doesn't help your cause. So when you do foolish things like that you are a fool and fools aren't great game players. America agreed because that was the edit they were given. America didn't even know anyone else was on the show besides Shambo. Do you know Russell? Kinda random you haven't watched Survivor in 18 seasons then just randomly watch for one dude.

I totally thought Natalie was going to win and deserved too. People want to argue that she rode Russell's coattails however had she not aligned with him and stayed loyal she would have been out before the merge. She changed the game for Foa Foa because she got Gaulu or whatever they are called to vote out Erik causing Shambo to totally jump ship. Russell was way more bold and outspoken than Natalie but alliances work together and we didn't get to see Natalie and Russell strategizing much till tonight and after tonight I believe many of their decisions were group decisions. Natalie was just smart she didn't call them stupid or threaten them before they were voted off.

No I don't know Russell, but I did watch because of all of the promoting CBS did and it worked. As for not knowing anyone else, this is survivor, not real life. Who cares who a person is. I don't care if your good outside of the show, just on the show. One of the only people who even played the game was Russell. Who else played? Would you like to give more than 5 names? Because you can't, at least not any real players. As for the edit CBS gave castmembers need to give them something.. If it wasn't for Russ this season would be a BUST! :thank_you2:
I think the final question/speech I was most confused by was Erik's. It seemed from all his Ponderosa footage he was more about game play and that he appreciated the strategy that went into getting him out and taking all the other Galu members out. So then when he came out and was so set on Natalie I was completely thrown for a loop. I totally thought he would have voted for Russell.
I'm just so confused as to how Natalie won and by a 7-2 margin? There had to be something that we did not see.
It was just a case of the jury being bitter. I think this is probably the first time in recent memory when ONE person was literally directly responsible for all 9 jury members being where they were...and in almost the exact order of his choosing...
Russell ran the game from day one. Picked up 3 hidden immunity idols and won individual immunity in the clutch, when it counted the most.
Natalie smiled a lot...and well, that pretty much sums up her 39 days on the island.
Did Natalie outwit Russ? Natalie couldn't outwit a toddler. Did she outplay him? Well, being see didn't win anything I can't see how that would even be a factor. Her idea of game play was asking Russell who she should vote for...
Did she outlast him? Nope, they were there to the end together because he brought her along as he knew she did nothing to deserve to win (along with Mick.)
She fails all criteria for sole survivor, beyond being at the right place at the right time - with a jury that was angry they had been played like a cello by a master.
RMD1, you are seeing the edit giving to you. Russell was not the only person to play the game, he had alliance members that's what they do they work together. The show just gave Russell credit because he was loud and outspoken. I change my mind, anyone that thinks Russell was that great is delusional.
1) Marissa, she said that the plan wsa to vote her off before she came after Russell and that he was just given credit.
2) Betsy, with or without Russ she would have gone early most likely.
3) Ben, Jaison gets that credit not Russell.
5) Erik, that was all Natalie's doing. Russell didn't have the social skills to sway the votes.
6) Kelly, didn't Shambo come up with that as part of her ploy to bring down Kelly? Congrats Russell I give you props you are great at hide & seek cause you couldn't scramble your way out of that one.
7) Laura, had the game not had stupid rules like drawing a rock and stuck to the fair fire building Jon wouldn't have switched so Russ gets half credit for that.
8) Jon, umm...he backstabbed his team & they were just trying to buy extra days so they got rid of Jon.
Yes, there were lots of blindsides that Russell was given credit for but when you go back and look at it he wasn't as amazing as the edit gave him credit for.
Also Bacchus how can you call the jury bitter? Of course they aren't going to vote for someone who belittled them if Russell respectfully outplayed them it would have been a different story but he didn't he just got lucky and was an *******.
You still have yet to give me one example of how Natalie could have played differently and still won? The logic that Russ is the greatest player this season much less ever is rubbish and will be proven during All Stars. I can't wait to see his demise. Those people disn't even see this season to know how ****** he really is. By the way I don't read spoilers but so I have no idea I'm just assuming he fails cause he isn't that great. Will BB2 is a great player because people knew how dirty he was and he still made it to the final 4. That's a good player because he backstabbed everyone but he didn't dog them to their face, AND he won :).
The fact is that Russell kept the target off his back for the majority of the game, and when he was threatened, he took care of the source. His name wasn't even mentioned as an option after a while.
He was not outplayed or outwitted. Natalie was just his puppet.
But your favorite season is Fiji...I wouldn't expect you to know much about great players.
Also Bacchus how can you call the jury bitter? Of course they aren't going to vote for someone who belittled them if Russell respectfully outplayed them it would have been a different story
Guess they will need to add that to the logo, outwit respectfully, outplay respectfully. Outlast respectfully.
Give me a break. Did Richard Hatch play a respectful game? No. Yet he was rewarded for his game play, just like Russell should have been...
Arguing that Natalie is actually a good player is quite ridiculous, don't you think?
Do you expect the majority of viewers to suddenly say, "Oh ya, she was using mind control while not doing anything and riding Russell's coattails" - haha.
The logic that Russ is the greatest player this season much less ever is rubbish and will be proven during All Stars.
Russell is not only the greatest player this season, he is easily one of the best players ever. This really even isn't up for debate.
As for All-Stars, it is a different game with a different dynamic. It should be interesting, as you are correct in that Russell did not have fair competition this season and Natalie getting the Russ spite vote from the jury, proves it.

I agree, even Jeff said Russ was probably the best ever.
Here is what looks to be the consensus view: 'Survivor: Samoa' finale recap: The worst jury vote ever | EW.com

A travesty. That's really the only word for it. Wait, here's another one: A joke. You could also go with absurd, ridiculous, lame. I'm going to make sure that I am absolutely clear about this: Natalie winning over Russell is the worst jury vote in the history of Survivor. That honor previously belonged to the All-Stars season, when a bunch of bitter Bettys couldn't handle being outsmarted by Boston Rob and awarded the million dollars to Amber instead. But this is worse.

You may not like Russell. You may consider him cocky, sneaky, and lots of other things. But he OWNED this game, and he owned the final Tribal Council as well. Natalie's opening speech to the jury contained NOT ONE SINGLE REFERENCE to anything she did well in the entire game, just that it was ''the hardest thing I've ever done.'' Hey, hand her the million then! Later, she talked about how her big strategy was to NOT be aggressive. That was her strategy!!! Don't do anything. Again, hand her the million!

Probst knows a dud winner when he sees one. He won't ever say it, but if you read between the lines, you can tell.

Did you notice the inspirational music swelling as Erik delivered his passionate plea to vote for Natalie, as if producers were trying their damndest to make us fall in love with a winner that they knew had no business winning?
Oh, and this was my favorite part of the entire season:
Probst: ''Are you asking Natalie to say to you: You're a better player?''
Russell: ''No, I'm asking her to ask you to tell me that I'm the Sole Survivor.''
What a waste. Probably the most undeserving winner ever...
I agree. I started out hating him, but I was forced to change my opinion. I ******* hate bitter jury members. That is the only bad part about Survivor.
The only speech that was good was Shambo's. Laura's was soooo "cry me a river" like, Erik's was his usual arrogant crap, and Brett's was just...weird.

I think Brett's made perfect sense. He wanted to see on what level Mick got to know him on a personal basis (which obviously, was none). I think if anything he was just reaffirming the fact that Mick was the least deserving of the three.

Who cares about what level he got to know him? This isn't blind date, it's Survivor. But I agree Mick was the least deserving of the three.
In all fairness Russell didn't control half the people who went home when because they just happened to win immunities which distrubuted his plan. Such as Laura this is who Shambo wanted gone so they planned on voting her off but because she kept winning he couldn't influence when they voted her out. The same was for Dave as in if they didn't need Shambo I think they would have voted Brett first. I was kind of disapointed in this season in that I felt if Russell from Galu had made the merge the show would have been completely different as when he was gone they unraveled. Also I wonder who wouldn't have voted for Brett had he made the final 3 because he was the underdog down the stretch.
Also I wonder who wouldn't have voted for Brett had he made the final 3 because he was the underdog down the stretch.
They asked that question at the reunion. He would have won no matter who he was up against.
I'm really confused as to why people are calling Russel the greatest survivor ever. I can only assume it's because he was the only person this season that played so aggressively.
I look back to fans vs. favorites and Parvati was responsible for every one of the jury members being voted out. In addition she played an awesome social game, and was liked by just about all of the jury even though she was responsible for them leaving.
Russel was responsible for most of them leaving, but he was too arrogant to even bother trying to form relationships with them. I'm sure I could make other comparisons; Parvati was just the first person I could think of. What makes him any better than her???
