I actually think DC looks good. It doesn't seem all about annoying annoying partying and fake drama. It seems like it will be funny, the issues are real. Ashley (I think) and Ty talking about religion reminds me of the older days of the challenge. I'm excited for it.
[SO.... It's pretty evident that The Real World is suffering in ratings and needs a serious revival if it wants to see a season after 26 (BMP is under contract For 26 seasons). It seems like all they just want to fufill the contract and pump out season after season and they keep getting more pointless and boring.
Where are the memorable characters?
Where are the relevent issues?
I feel that we need to come up with ideas on how to revive this franchise, so lets get to thinking...WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE!!?!?
Diversity(There should be no quota for how many white/black/asian/spanish people are on the show),Atlanta and Characters with Issues that are deep mixed with drama basically RW 1,3 and 5 mixed into one.Film a season during the summer when alot of people are aviable or starting in Feb. so they could film through May when alot of people become free.

Aren't we all free? Isn't that written somewhere?
Good one Molds! Yes we are all free as a result of Human rights acts. I think they should cast more people from a global scale. Such as when they were in Sydney I don't know maybe cast someone from Australia and when in Cancun cast someone from Mexico. They don't have to be from that city but that prespective would be great. Also they should start to include Canadians as I know about the Visa and the problems that occur with it but in order to do an international season such as Cancun or London you must have a visa as well so mine when doing international season bring Canadians along. These are markets that have not been tapped and so you could get new prospectives.
Here is another idea as well STOP casting people that want to do entertainment for a living. When you get people who just want the experience they are more inclined to be themselves and with that different actions may follow. Cough* not Emillee*cough.

LOL Free as in the cast they choose,In the summer theres less obligations and resp. someone between 19-24 have.
Was Key West a good season? The location made me not want to watch it.
It's a matter of opinion. I didn't really like it but then I also thought the cast sucked so...maybe that's just me. :D
Was Key West a good season? The location made me not want to watch it.
I liked it a lot, it was a "better" one of the "party seasons." As a matter a fact, I wouldn't even call it a party season, it guess its always just lumped in there because that was during the era of the party seasons.
Was Key West a good season? The location made me not want to watch it.
imo it was a great season!!! If you haven't seen it, I would highly recommend checking it out. It had a really good balance of party and "substance". The people were so different than they are on challenges, except maybe Tyler....and Janelle.

I agree.
The location made you not want to watch? Key West is one of my favorite places ever!! I would love to live there for 4 months. The show did it no justice, partially due to the hurricanes and the fact the house was so far from Duvall & Mallory Square.
I liked Key West, it's up there. For being after Austin and before Denver (two of the worst seasons IMO), it does a good job of being more than just a "party" season. Really funny too.

Completely agree. Austin, Denver, and Sydney..probably three worst seasons of the franchise, with Austin being the better of the three.
I think Sydney had unique casting choices with Parisa, Cohutta, Isaac, and Dunbar (I've never seen or met anyone like him, he's different), the season was just horrible in general, IMO. Even Parisa said BMP had a hard time editing their season.
Paula was annoying at times on on her season, but she was likeable, and her I felt for her on her, her goodbye letter was a tear jerker, esp. the part about how her roommates saved her life. Johnny was annoying at times but both Johnny and Paula did not become unlikeable until the Island.

I agree with Austin, Sydney and Denver being among the worst. I still find it funny that people actually voted Austin the best RW season at the awards.

Most likely the people that voted are the younger generation. A lot of my younger sisters friends that watch the show never even heard of Road Rules, so when they ask questions about the show, they ask me what season everyone is from. And a lot of times I get this "Oh, I've never even see Road Rules."
The way the show is now, especially the challenges, I don't think it is geared towards the older generation. I think most of us that watched the show from the beginning are older and diehard fans, and that is why we continue to watch it. Even if the season isn't enjoyable, we watch it out of habit.
I think the only challenge I really couldn't stand to watch was I3 (partly because it was one of the worst challenges ever and because around that time I was starting to hate the half hour format). I don't even think I caught every episode of Denver, Sydney, or I3 when it was airing, pretty sure I watched them online. That was just a whole era of ridiculousness as far as RW and the challenges went. Gauntlet 3 pretty much saved the franchise, and it had good ratings.

You know, I think its safe to say that the show changes with time, so older fans can't really connect with newer seasons because the newer seasons appeal to the newer generation. There is SOME truth in that because you can edit a season to be nothing but a party season...
For example, Denver was definitely edited to just be a season about drunken fights and hooking-up. I remember in an interview with Jenn, she said her grandmother passed away during the season and it didn't even make the show. I think she said a lot more happened that didn't make the show either.
Sydney, Austin and Denver were really bad seasons... Las Vegas and Cancun were good, only because what happened on those seasons was to be expected solely based on just where they were. Of course the Cancun season was going to be drunken fights and hooking-up, it's Cancun!
This may be a major reason as Steven became a background character as he was seen to not be a mjor partier but at least to me carried the most set view points and it would have been nice for him to have more discussions with the other castmembers.

Lots of things don't make a season weather its a serious or party season, I don't dislike seasons just because they are party seasons, I loved Las Vegas, and I didn't like Cancun. And Vegas was more of party season than Cancun.
Joey's grandmother passed away in Cancun, and it did not make the season any more serious..
If you put the Brooklyn cast in Cancun, I don't think we would have seen half the stuff we did on the Cancun seasons. Its more about the cast members they choose for the seasons.

I think Vegas was a great season too...and Cancun, not so much. I think the reason Vegas was a great season even though it was a "party" season, is that it had a great cast.
I also think if you took the Hollywood cast and put them in Cancun, that would have been a great season too.
I liked how BMP picked the cast for Hollywood and Brooklyn. They picked people who came on the show with career goals.
'Real World' Mad Lib
I found the below article in Entertainment Weekly the year of the show. I knew Colie was fair game..But not me. This only 1 of 100's times that the parents are mentioned. My turn.
''This is the most ridiculous house in all of America!'' (HYPERBOLIC REACTION) yells Colie (NEEDY, EASY GIRL) upon entering the Denver (CITY) abode. She immediately declares Jenn (EVEN EASIER GIRL) her best friend 4-eva, and falls hard for Alex (CREEPILY SMOOTH GOOD-LOOKING PLAYER). After they all get drunk, Colie (NEEDY, EASY GIRL) Makes out (***UAL ACTIVITY) with her crush. He then has *** with (***UAL ACTIVITY) that girl's new-best-friend roomie, who had earlier sucked face in the hot tub (WILD INCIDENT THAT CONFIRMS HER BAD-GIRL CRED) with Brooke (THIRD BAD-GIRL ROOMIE, WHO ISN'T QUITE TRAMPY ENOUGH TO GET MUCH CAMERA TIME). Watching Colie's (THE CUCKOLDED GIRL) tawdry desperation (FORM OF HUMILIATION) will make her parents envy friends whose kid only did 'Girls Gone Wild' (LEVEL OF SHAME). Meanwhile, Davis (GAY ROOMMATE) comes out to the house, which shocks Stephen (HOMOPHOBIC ROOMMATE, who tells him ''Homo***uality is gross.... There's no place for it in the church.'' (''ADAM AND EVE, NOT ADAM AND STEVE''-ISH STATEMENT) But the bigger problem occurs after another alcohol-soaked bash, when Tyrie (LOVABLE ROOMMATE WITH SCARY, DRUNKEN ALTER EGO) yells at Davis (GAY ROOMMATE) for leaving a bar early (STUPID REASON), and it devolves into a screaming match. Things only gets worse when someone utters the N-word (INTENTIONALLY OFFENSIVE REMARK). Weepy lessons are learned about racism (SOCIAL ISSUE THAT LETS PRODUCERS RATIONALIZE THE SMUT), and it all makes you want to lock your children in the basement until they turn 30 (METHOD FOR STOPPING MTV FROM EVER GETTING THEIR HANDS ON YOUR KID).
Watching Colie's (THE CUCKOLDED GIRL) tawdry desperation (FORM OF HUMILIATION) will make her parents envy friends whose kid only did 'Girls Gone Wild' (LEVEL OF SHAME).
Finally, the Jersey Shore parents can envy me.
That is such a sad article. To define a person by only a few words and to compare them to Girls Gone Wild is just awful. I thought society was above viewing someone above there sexual preference as well but I guess not.

I do agree with you. However, my posting was not meant to be a commentary about societies moral codes. I am way past trying to correct it, spent too much time already on it.
Now I just want to sit back, have fun with the idiocy of it and lighten the load for future RW parents. Letting them know what their kids signed them up for.
Here's a better question; Any reason why Full Episodes of The Real World New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and London are available on MTV canada's website and not ours?
LAME!!!
