Another pondering question, during the interviews at the end of the week with the producers (RW and the Challenges) Do they give the cast time to gather their thoughts and explain the chain of events that happened over the week? Do they get re-takes if they mess up?
How about this fun topic- top 25 most unforgettable roommates. I'll put a little reason why after most of them but not all of them! Have fun. 25. Frankie RW14- I think bringing awareness to cystic fibrosis was very good for the youth of America, even tho she was "too puck rock" for the Real World!! haha. RIP Frankie. 24. Ayiiia RW22- This hot mess was probably the one person that kept us interested the whole season long. 23. Heather RW1- Probably the only roommate to this day that would be able to put Coral in her place. Great personality and great roommate to have on the first season! 22. Joey RW20- At times a teddy bear, his battle with alcoholism was different in that instead of resisting to get help, he reached out for help and wasn't afraid to admit his problems and mistakes. 21. Danny RW9- We all met someone that was suffering from don't ask, don't tell. His struggle to keep his relationship with military boy Paul was not only hard on him, it was hard on the viewers!! 20. Tami RW2- She bravely let cameras in as she decided to go through with an abortion. She was also the reason the first person in reality tv was kicked off a show! 19. Danny RW16- He seemed to have a bit of bad luck on his show but nothing came close to when he lost his mother. We all rooted for him and were so glad to learn that after all his pain, he came out of his experience with a life partner- Melinda. 18. Melissa RW9- Small but mighty, if your sides didn't split with this comic relief then I dunno what's wrong with you. Aside from making us pee our pants, she had a great relationship with Julie, became Jamie's style sensai, and discussed her struggles of growing up biracial. 17. Paula RW17- Another hot mess. Even though she seemed to have one problem after the other, it was great to see that she eventually became healthier as time went on. The last words of her season, as said by her, say it all. - "These people, saved my life." 16. Teck RW8- We knew we were in for a treat within the first minute of meeting him. He's a player, he's smart, and he doesn't pick up prostitutes because "he got too much game!" 15. Julie RW1- The original prototype of "small town girl in a big city", many would follow her lead (Cory RW3, Elka RW6, Rachel RW10, etc.) but her will to learn was far more deep. We really saw the big heart this girl had when she agreed to spend the night with her homeless friend just for the sheer experience. Throughout her arguments with Kevin on race, flirtations with Eric, and a hilarious friendship with Heather, it's safe to say that she really grew from her experience. 14. Irene rw7- She made it very hard for us to feel sorry for her as she struggled with Lyme disease but is that what she really wanted? Even if she didn't want our pity she was still the resident HBIC. So did we really care that she was on the other end of the "slap heard 'round the world"? 13. Syrus RW6- The original Real World ****. He was smart, attractive, and picked up any mother of any kid he babysat on that show. Syrus was the man!! 12. Katelynn RW21- We have to admit that it was pretty brave of her to be documented on the show and show the world what it was like to be living as a transgendered person. It was also great to see the roommates all grow accepting, yes even Ryan. 11. Genesis RW6- Our glimpse into the life of a "lipstick lesbian", Genesis seemed confident but really wasn't. She struggled with her sexuality and was even brought to tears when she heard one of her students say that she had a feeling she hated gay people. 10. Eric RW1- Pretty much the original heartthrob of MTV. Eric was the model that every girl was in love with. He later went on to exercise for a living but no one will forget the steamy photo shoot he had with that random girl that stuck her eager tongue down his throat! Yes, while shooting! 9. Julie RW9- The first Mormon to grace our screens. She took a big risk with being on the show as she broke pretty much EVERY rule her school had in place. She was very inquisitive about other ways of living and had many a revealing conversation with Melissa. She also managed to stand up to her father by telling him that she was going to live life the way she wanted and not the way her parents planned for her. 8. Ruthie RW8- Her struggle with alcoholism was hard to watch, especially when she thought she didn't have a problem. She eventually left her demons behind and we were all so happy to watch the girl with the cheerful personality leave Hawaii happier and healthier. 7. Stephen RW7- Clearly still in the closet, he was the ultimate drama queen of the house. I guess it's hard to say who really was the HBIC on his season. Him or Irene? Regardless, Stephen is really only known for being the person to give Irene what we all wanted to give her! The "slap heard 'round the world"!!! 6. Ryan RW21- He was interesting because he was a veteran, a veteran of a war he was 100% against. He had heart and had courage and we were all filled with tears as he was summoned to return to fighting. He showed us all that he was willing to give everything a chance and that even meant going to a dance class with the girls. Ryan is hands down, a true hero that many of us were proud of. 5. Mike RW10- The Miz was brought into our lives with B2NY. Starting out as mid-American frat boy, Mike transformed into the good guy we would always root for. His arguments and discussions with Coral only enlightened him and made him a more intelligent person. 4. Coral RW10- The HBIC of all Real World. She was outspoken, she was harsh, she was incredibly moody, and above all else- she was hilarious. No one will ever fill Coral's shoes and no one better try! Never apologizing for herself, she often showed that even though she created conflict, she had enough intelligence to back herself up and wasn't afraid of hurting your feelings! She may have seemed cold but she really did have a heart and was there to not only learn but teach her roommates about what was going on. She will forever be the biggest b**** to grace the Real World, after all, she is the roommate we all loooove to hate. 3. Beth RW2- Before there was Coral, there was Beth. Instigating, obnoxious, and all around a bad seed. She did look out for her roommates at times but it seemed as though no one really liked her. She would later move on to the challenges and torment every cast member to walk into a room. You can hate her all you want, but she will forever be memorable. 2. Puck RW3- Puck, Puck, puck... do we really have to say anything about this guy? Snot rockets, bad hygiene, and really bad gas. His manners weren't that great, yet Rachel still had a thing for him!? His arguments with the house eventually lead him to being kicked out but for the time he was there, he was entertainment to the max. 1. Pedro RW3- As an activist for HIV and AIDS, he went on the show to educate young people about the disease he was actually infected with. Everyone seemed to love him on the show and despite Rachel being a bit put off at first, she eventually came around. He married his partner while on the show and sadly passed away the day after the last episode aired. He gained a lot of fans, recognition for our president, and even had a movie made after him. We can say a lot of things about Pedro but he definitely will always be the most memorable roommate the Real World has given us.
6. ryan rw21- he was interesting because he was a veteran, a veteran of a war he was 100% against. he had heart and had courage and we were all filled with tears as he was summoned to return to fighting. he showed us all that he was willing to give everything a chance and that even meant going to a dance class with the girls. ryan is hands down, a true hero that many of us were proud of.
I am not sure why you think Ryan was 100% against the war. Seems to me that he was for the war when he was in service and just sort of turned away from it when out of service and seems to be sort of maybe okay with it now that he is back in the service again.
Well he seemed a little over enthused for Obama and talked very negatively about the war. i don't know if him being against the war makes him memorable as much as he was a hero and we all felt very bad for him when he was called to active duty while on the show and he talked so much about how that would crush him.
Heehee, look what I found! It is updated with Brooklyn and Cancun's introductions. YouTube - Real World History: 22 Seasons of Intros The embedding is disabled for sharing on another website. You can take a peek on youtube, however. :D
I think I posted that awhile ago...notice how CJ says 8 people instead of strangers....
Whoops, didn't see it. I think it has incredible quality compared to the other video that only goes up to Hollywood.

I just wanted to point it out because I think he was edited to be more against the war then I sense he was. I took his position to be more of there hasn't been the progress we expected in Iraq so we should start working toward ending it. That and I think his support of Obama was out of self-interest with the IRR. Can't source it now, but I am sure I read him say somewhere that he voted for Bush in 2004 because of his commitment to keeping the US safe and Ryan was in service then. One of his myspace blogs at least implies that he was surprised in seeing the progress in Iraq that came between his deployments. His story was, by sheer bad luck and timing, one of the more interesting RW storylines IMO.
There hasn't been an 18 year old on a Real World cast since Real World San Diego. Why is that? There should be more...
Wasn't Ashli(sydney) 18? Maybe she was 19.
Questions: How old is the youngest member of TRW? and... What are the rumors of the new location for trw 24?
Questions: How old is the youngest member of TRW? and... What are the rumors of the new location for trw 24?
I'm not really sure, but since 18 is the minimum age for auditioning, i'd say whoever was 18 at the time of shooting the season. As for RW 24, nothing heard on my end but Atlanta has been mentioned so many times by us fans and viewers, i REALLY wish the producers would stop evading it and shoot a season there!!!
I have a feeling that after all the press problems they had with DC, they will probably go with somewhere like cancun which was much harder to find information on. Maybe a foreign country that doesn't generally broadcast RW or a smaller city with much less press.
Who was 18 on San Diego?
I believe it was Charlie, but it turned out that he was actually 19. A mistake by MTV.
In Vegas the hotel requested that everyone be at least 21.
What about Detroit, nobody seems to of mentioned that
Detroit i think is the second most requested place by the fans besides Atlanta. Why the producers don't seem to give a **** and give us what we want is beyond me.
Detroit i think is the second most requested place by the fans besides Atlanta. Partially because I have a coastal bias, partially because I like my Real World locations to be somewhat vibrant and uplifting... Stuff like this is unbelievable! Median Home Price In Detroit Is $7,500 The city is absolutely imploding and probably won't be a recovery after this recession. I think Detroit would make a better True Life than Real World. They have a great bar scene, a younger crowd, but is a fairly small city compared to some others in Michigan. They would never, ever, ever do a Real World in the actual city of Detroit. They'd have to use the suburbs.

The night life in Orlando is something else. Besides the obvious choice of theme parks, the restaurants and many other entertaining hangouts are the bomb diggity!!!

They could live in a cookie cutter housing complex adjacent to the park and get jobs as giant stuffed animals? :D I think they'd be better off in Tampa, Panama City or even Jacksonville. There are plenty of more "front line" and interesting niche cities that are probably a bit higher up the list (e.g. Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Savannah, Nashville, Tempe) as well as return seasons in some of the major cities (Boston, San Fran, Vegas, Chicago.)
how about Ibiza probably the party capital of the world
how about Ibiza probably the party capital of the world
Looks too expensive to me. They would have to pay EVERY single nightclub there if they wanna make it work. Anybody remember a "Dawson's Creek" episode (season 5, i believe) where Joey's college roommate Audrey was making an audition tape for "The Real World Ibiza"? I never saw that particular episode but i just thought of that when this topic came about, nice little coincidence.
I want a Vegas styled season at the Wynn Macau.
This one's probably a HUGE stretch, but how about a show in Shanghai?! That Chinese town is getting more publicity in recent times and many movies are going there. Can you imagine our 8 roommates present when they do the huge fireworks display in Chinese New Year? That would be like an honor as well as a very fond memory!
I want a Vegas styled season at the Wynn Macau.
Sun City, South Africa. It would probably have to be an all white cast though lol
