Grey's Anatomy

Labor Day is killing me. There is not much on TV. The good news is that some old Grey's Anatomy episodes are on (the last one is the season 2 premiere.) Oh my do I miss the old Greys! Season 1 ended with George attacking Alex because he gave him Syphilis. As if the wimpy George of later seasons would ever do something like that. And I swear Meredith was prettier back in the day too. Damn did Ellen age fast! That or she pissed off her makeup people... Edit: Or maybe it is just that newer super rat's nest hairstyle. Season 2 was by far my favorite. I long for a good show like vintage Greys to grace the airwaves again. It is somewhat depressing looking at the previews for the new fall shows and know that there isn't a show that looks like it will even compare to the bumper crop of series from 2004. The only good shows on these days, are on DVD and I've already seen them. Sad

It's funny you should mention this... I caught the first episode of Season 1 the other day and was thinking the same thing. Girlfriend is NOT aging gracefully!!! It was also a sad reminder of what a ******** this show has become.

I think I'm done with this show. I might stick around to watch the season opener to find out what happens to George (as though I should be surprised) but it's gone downhill since season 2.
The only good shows on these days, are on DVD and I've already seen them. :(
Dude, I don't mean to go off subject (although Grey's crash and burn makes it not that big of a deal, LOL), but you seriously should check out True Blood. I am going to watch the opener online sometime the weekend after it comes out.
True Blood.
Vampires...blah...
Vampires...blah...
will you try 1 episode?? Please buddy? Just 1...and then tell me if you think it is Blah...if your still blah on it, then so be it. Does Grey's start tomorrow? (I know, I know...I am googling it now)

I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not, but I am watching the premiere and on the bottom of the screen it shows many days have gone by up to that point. I am up to day 22 and I was thinking to myself, it really feels like I have been watching this episode for 22 days...
That does not sound like a good thing to me.
Probably not. :D There were a few highlights along with a few cringe worthy moments. I am not sure if this show will ever return to something that I personally will fully enjoy.

I kept checking to see if it was over...it was really depressing. Of course maybe that's just because it was a 2 hour premiere, but afterward I went for a long 2 hour [strike]run[/strike]nap.
Yeah... it was way too long and depressing at times... but there were a few scenes thruout that I really enjoyed. Like the scene between Callie & the chief when she goes off on him for not giving her the position! Love her!

Not all is lost, but I didn't get the humor at the funeral nor did I find the cevice references funny either. Hopefully now that George is dead and buried and Izzy is doing better, the tone will change. With the merger there will be all sorts of new characters. Maybe one or two of them can bring life back into the series.

I need to catch up on my Greys too. I only saw the first episode so far this season
has anyone been keeping up with Grey's this year? I've been watching but I think Private Practice is actually the better show this year... Though I did like the dynamic between Mer & Lexie this week... which is weird because I usually don't like anything to do with Meredeth...

Probably because it had way more Mark and Lexie and Cali and Arizona, these are the people I enjoy now. I don't know what it is but I really like Mark and Lexie together. I was shocked that Meredith actually decided to do that for her father! I guess it was more for Lexie, and they needed a storyline where Meredith could take it easy and not have to be seen from the neck down. I am not complaining at all knowing that we have a lack of Meredith on the show for a bit :)

I caught up on these eps this weekend. They were good, thought not enough to take my 9:00 priority that is Fringe. :D I was also surprised that Mer donated her liver to her dad, but I figured it was the easiest way to take her out of commission while Ellen is on maternity leave. Supposedly Izzie will be taking a break too while Katherine films a new movie. Wonder what they will do with her? I have enjoyed watching Callie/Arizona and Lexie/Mark as well. I thought it was sweet when Lex confronted her about walking in on her hot boyfriend in the shower, and Callie reassured her it's ok since he doesn't check out her ***** anymore. Cute exchange that was. Chief's been riding the broom and I don't know if I like it or not. I guess we'll see what happens with the merger! I like watching Christina and Owen's therapy sessions. They are making progress and starting to act like a real couple and not some stone-cold lovers lol. It makes it more beleivable to me. And Alex...awwww his confession to Izzie about being terrified of her dying again was heartbreaking, but also a great moment for the two of them. I think Justin Chambers plays this part perfectly. And they NEED to get a real house now and get up out of that trailer! Chandra Wilson amazing as usual. Loved her confession in the elevator about needing to not feel anymore. Will she go back to old school "****" Bailey? Overall, enjoyable. :)

I believe the previews for next week said somebody makes the ultimate sacrifice. Add that with Owen's line to Izzy about how she cannot be a patient and a Doctor, and maybe it makes a bit of sense.

I'm really looking forward to Baileys crossover episode with Private Practice next week..... I liked it when she warned meredeth that nothing better go wrong during this surgery because of everything that has already gone wrong with her interns....

But they'd have to do something so that she could still come back. KH isn't leaving the show (at least as of now) but just needed some time off to film a movie. I guess we'll see! I love Chandra Wilson, but I have never been able to get into PP, even though I've watched a few eppy's here and there.
I thought last week's episode was entertaining, but I can see where this is all heading and as I have stated before, it reminds me of ER. By mid-season half the story lines will probably revolve around people we don't even know yet and I am not sure that is a good thing...

Shoot I'm even enjoying this new Chief/Derek dynamic.
Solid start to the season so far although everyone laughing at George's funeral was a bit over the top. Did anyone notice how Alex has yet to grieve or say anything regarding George's death? It's also interesting is that almost everyone on the show is involved in a relationship: Mer-Der, Alex-Izzie, Mark-Lex, Hunt-Yang, Arizona-Callie. Maybe Bailey and the Chief will be getting toegether soon? (Just Kidding)

It was ok episode this week, some parts I liked, some I didn't. Although Izzie leaving just like that was a bit shocking, it will be interesting to see what they do with Alex's character until she comes back. I also enjoyed what they did with Christina, she acknowledged the fact that she got preferential treatment when Burke was around.
I didn't like the episode much personally. They added a bunch of new characters and I can't stand any of them. Then they got rid of Izzy (for the time being.) As far as I am concerned, this show is imploding.

I think they tried to come up with a way to take the focus off EP and KH leaving, although I don't really agree with all the people they brought in. I didn't care for any of the Mercy West people except the girl working with Lexie. The only good thing about all of this is that most of these people won't stick around.
House tried the same thing a few years ago, and it's still doing well.
Doing well (ratings) and being good are two different things. I feel that House peaked and has been in decline these past two seasons. I still watch, but it is just to burn an hour - where as before I was really into what was going on. House also still has, House and it was great before they changed casts where as GA has been sinking for years with the Izzy fantasy episodes marking what many fans consider to be the worst season yet. Anyway, back to the current season - not only do I dislike the new cast members, but I think the entire concept is flawed (i.e. constant and monotonous fighting over surgeries and the layoff shtick.) Seattle must have it good as in my state we are setting up tax payer funded incentives to get more residents in hospitals, currently having a critical shortage. I'll still watch for the time being, but I think things are going to go from bad to worse, fast. I even busted out fast forward this week to skim through a handful of "go no where" scenes...

Lets face it, that's all the networks care about anyway. I'm willing to give the new people a chance since it was only the first episode they were in, but I agree the storytelling needs to improve to pre-cancer Izzie.
