Send your 5 minute casting tape to: Bunim-Murray Productions 6007 Sepulveda Blvd. Van Nuys, CA 91411 Attn: Real World Casting If you submit on DVD, you MUST submit a full-size DVD that is playable in a standard DVD player. TEST this before sending it in. If your disk won't play, we WILL NOT notify you and it goes in the trash.

BTW guys I just did my casting video and I edited thru a program on my computer and I have stored in my computer now. It's like 6 mins long....whats the best way to set it out? Do I have to put it thru a DVD blank? so it can play like a DVD?
I don't know how strict MTV is about length, but I do know that other places will not even play your video if it's over their time limit. They're very strict at CBS regarding this rule when it comes to their tapes for Survivor and the Amazing Race.
Thanks to the both of you for your info. And I officially made my DVD format casting tape. thanks to DVD movie maker. it came out insaneeeeeee, i even made 2 copies. One to mail it to them under the address you provided Bacchus. Should the casting video be secretive? I have a couple of friends that want to see it. Not sure if I should show its epic but at the sametime I dont want to be cocky about it....because in the end the casting directors decide. btw it has been tested under DVD players and it works perfect. I added it with scene selection and play movie. In the main menu it shows random pictures of what the clip has to offer. Its a total of 5mins 40 secs (including intro and credits at the end) :] cheers,
Good luck getting them to watch it...it's still too long.
so no more then 5mins right molds? i'll reedit the and make a new dvd movie. cheers,
Better safe than sorry. If it says 5 minutes then it's best to have it at 5 minutes. Might seem like BMP wouldn't obsess over that but you'd be very surprised.
so no more then 5mins right molds? i'll reedit the and make a new dvd movie.
You can do whatever you want, but if I were making a tape for a casting audition, I would be sure to follow all the rules. If they say 5 minutes and you send in a tape that's 7 1/2 minutes long, you just make their job easier by tossing it in the garbage. I had a friend who sent in an application tape for Survivor (that was over 3 minutes long) and he also went to an open casting call; they liked him, so they called him and told him to edit his other video to make it under 3 minutes long, as they didn't look at any tapes that were over the time limit. The guidelines are there for a reason.
Got it thanks :) I just got home like an hour ago....so I'm going to do some editing tonight. And it will be a total of no more then 5 mins :)
On somewhat of an aside, this was send to me by a "friend" of one of the cast members from a previous season of The Real World. They just happened to stumble upon it looking for a good bar. I guess destiny sometimes works in mysterious ways...
MTV is holding a casting call down in New Orleans at a college bar tomorrow night. They were on campus today handing out flyers. Its supposed to be hosted by Dunbar. I would go but I have Bio Lab. But I have a really good friend who is going to it and has the personality to go far.
Have they posted the open calls yet?

I've been trying to keep up with the whole casting calls in New Orleans... is it just for one night or do they do it over a few day period because I'm not in the area right now to get any info on it...ahhhhh

If a cast member is there it could be a gig with "casting advice" . Dunbar is a local boy so it could be a charity event. Or it could be the real thing. Read the literature very carefully. There is BMP flier a few posts up (100). It must say BMP on it.

It was only for one night and apparently they didn't have that great of a turnout. My friend said it consisted of group interviews that they held in the back room, but they were never specific about the show they were casting for.
Look what BMP just tweeted: Best of luck all! :)
so I guess maybe it's resorting to a video if you miss the casting call, or better luck next year i guess
Nothing specific, but if you're in the area you can look into it. For those of you in the DC area, you might want to look into bars that are already RWDC approved.
Hmm...maybe I'll check the DC one out, just for kicks...if I can get into the bar. Time to meet some promoters!
Omg, I would really like to go for the Houston open call. Does anyone know where I can find any info about it? My google search is no bueno. :/

I got a vip interview in boston, I'm stoked haha
I got a vip interview in boston, I'm stoked haha
Welcome to Vevmo. Is a VIP interview very different from the regular interview?
No clue, I haven't been to either hahahaha.
Well I'm waiting for them to come to the Philadelphia area...I'm ready...hopefully 24 will be a good season...well if they cast me of course it will be.
Welcome to Vevmo. Is a VIP interview very different from the regular interview?
Typically, VIP refers to a pass they email you to allow you to move to the front of the line. It has no other purpose other than that. For RW23, I was in an entire group (8 of us) of VIPs and only 2 of us got to fill out the 80 page paperwork after the interview (which means only 2 of us moved forward in the process and 6 were cut that day). I would say they probably have between 100 to 200 VIPs per location based off what I saw from the line. From what I saw, each group had 1 to 3 people to fill out paperwork...most of the time it was 2. Based off the amount of people they anticipate will show up, they will have 1 or 2 casting directors in each location. RW23 was staffed with 6 casting directors total for the entire process. When you're at the open casting call, the first thing you do is fill out a short 20 question survey...questions are typically: how would your friends describe you, what is the biggest issue facing you, major events in your life, current job, career aspirations, etc. This is a smaller version of the 80 page questionaire you fill out later. The questions they put in the smaller survey are really just to get a broad overview of you. In the group interviews they ask you to introduce yourself and then you have an open discussion about your favorite seasons (if you watch the show) and then some random questions to see how you interact with the group. While you introduce yourself, the casting director scans over your small survey and is figuring out how to place you: are you a person who has a story they can show? are you a person who will add personality to the show? Are you attractive or unique? They like you...you fill out the paperwork. If not, they say they will contact you...most likely probably not. There's the overview.
Hey everyone -- first post here. I did the RW23 interviews and made it to semi-Finals last year. Anyways, I'm eager to try out again...it was really fun. Look forward to reading.

That sounds interesting.
