New Fall Television Shows 2009-2010
The following is a list of the new programming for the five major English language broadcast networks in the United States. The list includes new prime time shows airing from September 2009 through May 2010. Sadly, only one (Flash Forward) even garners a little interest from me. Looking at the list, 95% are "safe" rehashed versions of other shows I currently don't watch. I'm not sure who is running these networks, but from the looks of their new offerings, I fully understand why people are migrating to cable! Three years ago, I tried out 8 new shows. Two years ago 5. Last year 3. This year, probably 1 - maybe two (V.) That means I'll be watching a lot less network television this coming year. The good news? Top Chef, Caprica, Stargate Universe, The Next Iron Chef, Flipping Out, The Ruins, The Universe, et. al. I guess the networks just don't really matter any more.... ABC Copper (Mid-season) Cougar Town The Deep End (Mid-season) Eastwick FlashForward The Forgotten Hank Happy Town (Mid-season) Inside the Box (Mid-season) The Middle Modern Family The Shark Tank V CBS Accidentally on Purpose Arranged Marriage (Mid-season) The Bridge (Mid-season) The Good Wife Miami Trauma (Mid-season) NCIS: Los Angeles Three Rivers NBC 100 Questions (Mid-season) Community Day One (Mid-season) The Jay Leno Show The Marriage Ref (Mid-season) Mercy Parenthood (Mid-season) Trauma FOX Brothers The Cleveland Show Glee Human Target (Mid-season) Past Life (Mid-season) Sons of Tucson (Mid-season) U.S. Attorney (Mid-season) Undercover Boss (Mid-season) The CW The Beautiful Life: TBL Blonde Charity Mafia Life UneXpected (Mid-season) Melrose Place The Vampire Diaries [via wikipedia]
I have to say I'm very leery about giving a new shot a chance... the last 3 years I've gotten all into a show only to have it canceled mid year... Remember the Fox drama Reunion? We never even got the closure to find out who the murderer was!!!!

BTW, there is some information floating around on the internet about who the the murderer was and how the season was supposed to play out. I forget though, but I do remember reading about it. That was a really good show, IMO. I'm giving the the vampire diaries and melrose place a chance since I enjoyed 90210. I was too late for Gossip Girl. I'm not really into ABC, NBC, CBS, or Fox. I'm going to watch DH on ABC but thats it, I like my cable shows.

I was super pissed when it got canceled... than I lost Lipstick Jungle this past year... If I give any show a chance it will be Melrose since I watch 90210... but we'll see... I don't want to get burned again....

As far as Dramas go, Flash Forward is the only one that peaks my interest. I thought V would, but the commercials aren't doing it for me. For comedies however, I will try and watch Glee as I thought the pilot was great. I also think Community with Joel McHale looks kind of funny. I think that Modern Family show looks pretty funny too. Also, I will probably try and watch the first episode of Parenthood and see if I like it.
I'll give Glee, Community, Parenthood and FlashForward a chance. Glee's pilot was cute and funny. How can I resist a little more Joel McHale in my life? Parenthood could be good or crash in burn for me so I'll see what the first episode or so is like. FlashForward sounds interesting so I'd like to see where it goes. Cable really is getting much better. I hardly ever turn on Fox, CW or ABC. CBS and NBC get the most play for me. Thank goodness Mad Men, Project Runway, the Ruins, Flipping Out (there was a marathon this weekend to get me pumped up for more crazy Jeff!) & Top Chef are all starting up again! The Discovery Channel, TLC and HGTV also get lots of play in my house.
I was thinking Parenthood was for the fall but I guess with Maura Tierney being ill that got pushed back. I was really looking forward to that show!! We'll see about the rest of the new shows.

I hate that they cancelled this!!! I used to have the biggest crush on Will too!!!

This may be a silly statement but why do they produce shows each year knowing that they'll get cancelled? And bring back Knight Rider. 90210 season 2 looks bad. This is why they should've just stuck with the original producers.
I cant wait to see The Beautiful Life: TBL, im a HUGE Mischa Barton fan and i cant wait to see her again....i was sad when she left The OC. so i definately cant wait for this show
What is her show about?
I haven't really watched the CW, but Melrose Place and The Vampire Diaries look very interesting, so I'll give those a shot.
I'm probably going to give FlashForward a shot. How can you go wrong with Courtney B Vance?

Ahhhh, I forgot about NCIS: LA!!! Gonna have to check that out as well. Also excited for Glee to come back.
I think the Jay Leno Show is limiting NBC's new shows cause half of them are only half season shows cause some are done in Jan so the new ones can be shown.
I think the Jay Leno Show is limiting NBC's new shows cause half of them are only half season shows cause some are done in Jan so the new ones can be shown.
With the recent quality of NBC shows where it is, I think the network is doing us a favor by not having too many new ones, too fast. Jay Leno is a known quantity and I am actually excited it is on an hour earlier this year. It is my backup 10 O'clock show every weekday! ;)
Is anyone planning on watching the new Melrose Place? I am going to give it a shot.
Is anyone planning on watching the new Melrose Place? I am going to give it a shot.
I plan on checking it out if it doesn't conflict with any of my other shows.
Is anyone planning on watching the new Melrose Place? I am going to give it a shot.
I'm planning on watching. The previews look really good.
I'm planning on watching. I have always liked her better as an actress than a singer, although I do think I bought her first CD...I can't remember for sure though, I will have to check my case which hasn't been opened in forever! LOL
Yeah I can't wait to see her on this, I think she's a good actress too. I loved her when her first CD came out!! But her music started to suck after that, lol.

I love Ashlee! Her reality show was great!
Melrose Place dissappointed me...I will give it another Eppy though since it was ended with a cliff hangar.
I watched The Forgotten last night. It was okay. Nothing fantastic...safe. Probably something Christian Slatter should have went with last season. Also tuned in to see NCIS:LA - I thought it was compelling, I really want to know G's (Chris O'Donnell) real name now. Flash Forward is must see. Love me some Joseph Fiennes!!! But it does like very good. My only beef is that they put it on Thursday! Come on! My Wednesday and Tuesdays are so dead!
I watched The Forgotten last night. It was okay. Nothing fantastic...safe. Probably something Christian Slatter should have went with last season.
So did I , except I really liked. The premise of the show, is about a group of people who take on the John/Jane Doe cases when the police have run out of leads. The story is narrated by " the forgotten" person that they are trying to get a name for. I really liked Christian Slater as well.
Also tuned in to see NCIS:LA - I thought it was compelling, I really want to know G's (Chris O'Donnell) real name now.
I know me too! Also was the attractive older lady from the introduction episode recasted with the short lady? Cause if so they should have kept the other one!!
Did anyone else happen to catch, The Good Wife. I actually liked it. I recorded it on a whim because it generally had good reviews and when I saw that it did well in the ratings I gave it a go. I was not a huge fan of Julianna Margulies on ER, but I think she is perfect for this role. That's the one with Chris Noth right? I wasn't too interested on it based on the previews, but maybe I'll give it a shot.
