Hahah. At this point, unless one of the guys does terribly, I want Evan gone. I love th guy, but at this point him not leaving would be unfair.
Unfortunately, I have to agree. And I've been behind Evan since the beginning, but it's his time...
Unfortunately, I have to agree. And I've been behind Evan since the beginning, but it's his time...
So have I. He was my favorite going into this, but it is his time. Every other guy has done outstanding except for him. I personally tink Randi outshined him everytime.
I am so nervous that Evan is making it past this week.
But I think Jason has raised himself up and with Kayla as a partner that may just save him. I am more nervous for Ade being in the bottom undeservedly.
By the way, Travis Wall is doing the group number. It excites me after that beautiful piece he put together for Jeanine and Jason.
Most seasons I've think for the most part people have gotten the final four right (even though I think Pasha should've lasted longer than Neil and Will longer than Twitch) I'm hoping Evan either pulls the performance of his life out of his butt or he goes home this week.
Binary, I think that last season Chelsie should have been in there instead of Courtney, who was amazing, but Chelsie blew every girl away.
Even if he does amazing, I still think it is his time. Unless somebody else royally sucks.

Funny, I could never figure out why Courtney had such a big voting base in the first place but yeah Chelsie was better than her, I forgot about that. Truth be told though, I think the last of the season 3 girls (Sara, Sabra, Lacey, Lauren, Jamie) could dance circles around all the season 4 girls though. They should have a allstar sytyd, and bring back the best from every season that would be interesting.
Season 3 is great, but this Season has blown everyone else away, technically.
Maybe, I don't maybe I'm just biased since most of my top 10 favorite performances come from that season. But Melissa, Ade and Brandon I think are absolutely amazing, and I still can't get over that tango that Brandon and Janette did, seriously best executed tango routine they've ever had on the show.
I think Will deserved to go. He already had training at Debbie's school.
But Twitch had already worked with Adam Shankman in 'Hairpsray' which is why he also couldn't judge I believe. Does that mean he shouldn't have made it to the finals? I don;t see how being lucky enough to have connections in the industry translates to being sent home. It's not like he was under contract.
Yeah, the judges obviously favored him, but you can't deny that it wasn't deserved. He was one of the best, if not the best male dancers that season.
I cannot wait for tonight's episode. It is at this time that the top dogs could actually end up going home. Let's hope that somehow Ade can pull it off and stay.
Here comes a long rant:
In my opinion, I feel like the whole season they have kind of painted some picture as to it being Brandon vs. Ade. This is not fair because then it makes the voters solely vote for one. In the end, one of these guys will go home before the end. Most likely Ade because he isn't as well connected with the audience.
I feel the judges have a certain way of ensuring people a vote, and knocking others. The harsher they are on somebody with an extremely large fanbase, Evan, will make the voters scurry to his savior. While building somebody up like Ade, doesn't make the voters feel like they have to vote. The judges can easily manipulate the situation.
They want Brandon in the end for sure, but this also means focusing all the attention on him and ignoring the others and in the end, damaging another person's chances. Evan can do terribly, but in the end, most people won't put him in the bottom, but will scurry to his defense. It ****** me off!
This is why I think that there need to be revisions to the rules. The Top 10 is where the judges should have more control because for the most part, voters will definitely keep the right people aroud from the Top 20 on. But the Top 10 is where it gets tough, and the voters are only going to stay with those who are their early favorites. People are voting out of necessity in a sense, and not off of talent.
I have said it since the beginning, this is a girls' season. These four girls, and even Randi was, glorified to all hell and back. They don't even crtique them anymore, rather they just say" I have nothing to say to you other than that you're amazing." Jeanine, Melissa, Janette, and Kayla have gotten constant praise. I think at this point, it is a toss up for the Top 4, but whoever ends up there on the girls's side wins it. At this point, it becomes hard to people to vote based on the whole competition when they run neck and neck, so they start voting weekly in a sense. Whoever brings it that week, is going to stay. Forget about the previous dances.
End Rant. :)
Here comes a long rant:
. . .entire post. . .
End Rant. :)
You know it's interesting what you said about it being a girls season, because last season I thought was all about the boys, the girls for the most part all blended together and were just a bit blah (other than Katee who I actually thought should've won and Chelsie) and there were several guys who were just great, versatile dancers, or even just stand out personalities.
I do totally agree that they've set up this dynamic between Ade and Brandon, and the whole season has been set up to have a root for the underdog dynamic when it comes to Brandon and Evan. Brandon belongs in the finals, Evan doesn't. If Evan survives ahead of Ade I am calling straight up shenanigans. I agree that the judges load the scales in different people's favors but when you get towards the end, the voters tend to turn things into a popularity contest as opposed to who is the best dancer. Other than Nigel who I think is a BS judge that picks favorites based on who he thinks he can turn into a star, the other judges I think actually pick favorites based on who they believe has the most talent and I trust the judges more than the audience to pick the final dancers as it comes down to the wire.
But I will say that I think the voting audience for sytycd does a way better job than the AI voters, from what I've seen the winner is almost never the people who are the most talented, or even the ones that are pop star material. It's like there is something in our brains that make us want to root for the longshot, even though maybe there's a valid reason why they are the longshot *cough Taylor Highs cough*.
It isn't a popularity issue so much as the judges always make it really easy for the adicence to want to vote a certain way. They make poeple vote for Evan just because they know if it weren't up to them he'd be long gone.
My issue is I have not seen a slip up from Ade, but since they want us rooting Brandon, they find some of the littlest things just to critique him on. At this point, if Ade leaves before Evan, I'll be pissed. Hell, I want Ade in the Finals, but even if Jason makes it past him I won't care. Evan needs to go!

Oh yeah I forgot about Jason.
I think that people start cheering for the contestant that for whatever reason they feel they can relate to or that they find to be particularly likeable or just cute. I think someone like Evan has that average Joe/teddy bear appeal, people like Ade, Will and Danny T. (though Danny was able to eventually break down that wall) are not "accessible" in that way, even though they are beautiful dancers. I'm not sure if it's because people maybe assume others will vote for them but sometimes I think people almost resent other people if they seem "too perfect." I don't know if that makes sense or not, but it seems like if the judges give someone glowing reviews every week, they have a regal demeanor about them, and they perhaps don't appear "modest enough" for some people's tastes, there seems to be a backlash against that person (male and female).
I understand what you are trying to say Binary.
I just feel like maybe they should change the rules up a bit, because it is quite ridiculous that they can slide that long.

No I totally agree. I hate to say it about Evan because he was one of my early favorites but he should've been gone a couple of weeks ago.
I think the thing about this show, is the purpose is to not find the best dancer. It never is, they never say we are looking for America's best dancer. We are looking for America's favorite dancer. Never, in my opinion has the best dancer won. Thus, people like Evan who is not as good as the other dancers are able to go far. If the show was changed, then the producer manipulations would be so ridiculous.
Also every dancer on these shows always has connections with choreogaphers. The only reason Joey Dowling came was because of Randi. The more connections a dancer has the better chance they have on the show.
Now we just need people to VOTE for them!
If they go home after that dance, I'll be very surprised. I think they would get a lot of votes from the people they were reaching out to.
Each couple has had one good dance except Evan.

No surprise there...
Janette performs both of her dances really well and it made Evan look that much weaker. Ade and Melissa's second dance was absolutely amazing and Ade's solo was so freaking ridiculous, i love him. Yeah Sparks is back, Shane's routine was fantastic I missed him.
So far the Broadway routine is my favorite of the night. Totally agree with Mia's comment about Kayla being a star on Broadway, I could totally see her there and see myself paying to see her.
Surprisingly I think I've found the first Sonya routine I didn't really like. :( I think part of that was like one judge said that Evan doesn't have the darkness to carry off her stuff and it hurt the routine for me.
