Wow...there must have been nothing to discuss on the pregame show... Florida is in town so they just can't shut up about Hanley Ramirez and the fact that the Sox traded him (for Beckett and Lowell.) The last 45 minutes straight have been "What if" scenarios. First of all, revisionist history is fantasy. Secondly, why are we even talking about this? We got Beckett, he went 5-0 in the playoffs and Lowell was world Series MVP as the Sox won their second title in 3 years. Wasn't that what we were trying to accomplish? Moving on...
Completely agree. I don't think there is anything to make us feel like we got the short end of the deal. Beckett lived up to expectations and I think Mike Lowell surpassed them. If I remember correctly he was tacked on to the deal, thought to be near the end of his career and ended up World Series MVP!
Papi is on a mini tear right now. I love to see him hitting.
Happy 500th sellout Red Sox fans! There hasn't been an empty seat in the house since 2002!
That's cool! Did they actually give those away at the game or are we expected to buy them after purchasing a membership in RSN?

During the game they showed a massive list of sponsors that were giving 500 (of what ever) to those in attendance, so I assume just about everyone walked away with something pretty cool for making it to this record breaking game. What good is a billion dollar stadium when half the seats are empty, right? ;) *Yes, I had to make a dig at the Yankees. It is genetic, really!

Hey, if the Coliseum can sell out all 90,000 seats every year I went to USC (granted there are far less games in the football season), then Yankee stadium can sell-out too. They just need to bring the freaking prices down! I mean the fans know they are going to see a homer or 2 if they go to a game, there is good food, a decent team with big name players, all the things that would make people want to come but who wants to pay hundreds and thousands of dollars for a single game?
Losing 2-1 in an outing that was shorter than a little league game, bites...

Hey Bacc, score any "hits" tonight? ;)
I'm in love! Great graphics and diagrams with a baseball twist? Swoon. Ok...Dice K has thrown ten pitches. PULL HIM NOW TERRY! PULL HIM NOW!
**** we got lucky that inning... First pitch was a home run. Second pitch was a single. Third pitch was a double. Then two 4 pitch walks. Finally a strikeout and a double play. That could have been bad. Only giving up two runs was practically a miracle! Still, if I was Terry I'd keep Masterson warming up in the pen.
Is it wrong of me to be surprised the Braves won? I was but it kind of gives me hope for the rest of the season.
Is it wrong of me to be surprised the Braves won? I was but it kind of gives me hope for the rest of the season.
I'm not too surprised. Dice-K has been throwing horribly all year and actually this might benefit us. It puts him in a position where he will be more amendable to going to the minors or pitching out of the pen. That way we can fill his slot with Smoltz or Buchholz. ...and it gives you a little hope, being you beat the best. :D
I have tickets for tonight's game. The Somerset Patriots against the Maryland Blue Crabs. Cant wait for the official rain cancellation.

On the Sox beat: Beckett was amazing last night. Outside of the playoffs, it was a career performance. I was in a state of nirvana. Even more amazing were the Red Sox fans who cheered Derek Lowe as he walked from the mound in appreciation of his performance and his help in winning the 2004 World Series. Sounds like a great game B! Wish I could have watched it, MLB Gameday didn't do it justice. Also, props to the crowd for cheering Lowe, he contributed so much to that championship.
WOO! Walk off homer! Go Green!
WOO! Walk off homer! Go Green!
That was huge and he was humble. Now if only we could have the first game of the series back...
Ugh... The Mets have placed Beltran on the DL... will it ever end this year????
I'm always wary regarding some of these rankings, but decide for yourself (no B, Boston isn't dominating): Ultimate Team Rankings - All Sports - SportsNation - ESPN
I'm always wary regarding some of these rankings, but decide for yourself (no B, Boston isn't dominating):
So basically if you suck bad enough or are from such a small market that you can only get away with charging $5 for the best seats in the house - welcome to the top of the list! What a value! I think the only games the Angels actually sell out are Red Sox and Yankee west coast trips... The only rankings I care about are how I rank the championships in my beloved Boston over the last 8 years, by order of importance: Red Sox 2004, Celtics 2008, Patriots 2001, Red Sox 2007, Patriots 2003, Patriots 2004.
Drew just smoked one. I have hope we can get back into this game!
Is the Tigers game over yet? :) That was kind of painful to watch. It didn't even seem like we were batting because every time I looked at the screen, it was a new inning and Minnesota was up.
Go Nationals! Sorry, I had to support my home team.
Manny ejected in his first game in NY. Maybe they should've kept him on the 'roids to keep his temper in check... But they played the Mets, so they won. I saw the "Not Top 10" on Sportscenter this morning that was all bad Mets fielding...it made me cringe. Not good at all.
Ok, American League fans. Today is the only day of the year that we can all band together and celebrate on our way to the millionth All-Star win in a row against the [strike]AAA[/strike] National League. Although, I will be fair in saying that I am not sure I actually want to win. It sucks when you sweep the world series and are forced to clinch on the road (2004 & 2007) so maybe we (American League) lose tonight so we (Red Sox fans) can get our first home clinch WS Title in almost 100 years this fall? :wink2:
I feel it in the air! This will be the national league's year!!!
What is it with these games that the national league just can't win? :D
HEY there's always next year right? LOL
HEY there's always next year right? LOL
I'm sure you've been telling yourself that for the last [strike]12[/strike] 13 years...
