Survivor Samoa
Dan from Survivor Maps has confirmed the 19th season of Survivor to take place on the island of Samoa. Details were leaked to message boards after many vacationers were forced to relocate their hotel stay at Aggie Grey's Lagoon Resort in Apia to make room for the Survivor crew. They will be closed from June to September, in their peak season. Samoa is located northeast of Australia as part of Polynesia, in the central South Pacific. It is just west of Fiji and Vanuatu, two other locations that Survivor has used for seasons, and is located about halfway between New Zealand and Hawaii. The series, according to one article, is set to take place west of the Faleolo International Airport, which is located about 25 miles west of Apia. Faleolo International Airport is located on the northwestern tip of the island Upolu. Is Survivor About To Be Filmed in New Zealand? The only reason this sounds strange to me is because normally the crew is housed in tents and such...but we shall see! Some facts: Samoa was a huge trading post for Germany, the United Kingdom, and the US in the 1800s. Family is an integral part of life to Samoans. Samoan dance is arguably the one area of Samoan culture that has not been touched by Western Civilization (so it'll be interesting to see if Survivor tries.) It'll be interesting to see what kind of theme, if any in particular, they go for with this season.
Samoa looks like a great location!
Awesome! Thanks for the info
Here's an email I got from Dan when I asked if he had any more information: I have been zeroeing in on the exact location. My goal is to get the camps located within 100 yards of their actual position. I have a local contact who is working on this now. One of the problems is that Samoa doesn't seem to have topographical maps of their islands, and unfortunately the satellite images of Samoa are spotty. I'll be sure to keep you informed as I learn more,
Some more pictures of Samoa, where rewards could be taken: Shot from inland. Thanks for the info molds! :D Samoa looks like a great place for Survivor!
This almost makes me want to apply! I have always wanted to go to Samoa.
This almost makes me want to apply! I have always wanted to go to Samoa.
I guess 12 out of 16 cast members this year were recruited through agencies, so the odds of applying and getting selected are so minuscule at this point - it really is not worth it. :(

That is pretty disappointing actually. Truthfully I kind of fell out of the Survivor loop after Pearl Islands until now, so I don't know if this has become the norm, but 3/4 seems much higher than I would expect. Is everyone applying just that horrible, or do producers just not want to put in the effort to find hot bods/interesting characters anymore? Oh well, way too early for me to judge the next season anyway so I'll stay optimistic and be happy that I will at least get a glimpse at Samoa!

Apparently they don't have enough good people either way. Apparently I am just not interesting at all, because my video was AWESOME.

I don't really like "selling" myself I would rather sit back, observe and make sarcastic comments. I think I would do much better on a show like Amazing Race, which I NEED to go on, than something like Survivor where the whole alliance game is such a big part of it now. I'm not too good at hiding my feelings, especially on my face. I may keep my mouth shut, but you definitely know what I am thinking by the look on my face! Maybe we should all send in videos telling them to pick you! Then we could have our very own Survivor Vevmo insider to root for! And get info from ;)

I've always wanted to go on Survivor, but I would love to go on Amazing Race as well...my best friend and I were thinking about doing it but she lives in Chicago which made it a bit harder to do interviews. We can be partners tatertot! ;)
Yes! Yes! Yes! I am gonna go brush up on my Russian now...
And I will work on smuggling in some cheap stuff to pawn off ;) Oh and not losing/misplacing important stuff.
And I will work on smuggling in some cheap stuff to pawn off ;) Oh and not losing/misplacing important stuff.
Perfect! I wonder if we can get Team Schneebly to produce and write our submission video? I think it could be a winner.
My source says that tribal camps are going to be on the southeast corner of Upolu. The island is called Nu'utele, which is made up of a volcanic tuff ring. Nu'utele is part of the Aleipata Islands. Further to the southeast is another smaller island (Nu'ulua) that could be used for Exile Island. Nu'utele Island from Lalomanu beach. You can see white beaches and tons of trees.
Some more info: They are uninhabited, but habitable. The lagoons on both of the islands are infested with sharks and they come right up to the beaches in shallow water. No swimming for the cast in this show! The Vini and Nu'utele seem to be the main beaches. Boat access is most viable to Vini. A blog said: The climb on Nu'utele from Vini Beach to the summit plateau is very demanding, particularly in wet weather. It involves 1 to 1 1/4 hr of walking and scrambling up a steep muddy slope. The island is very hard on footwear and several people were going to throw boots away at the end of the trip. Vini Beach can be accessed in most weather and tidal conditions though landings are not without risk. There are two buildings situated there and abundant coconuts. Nu'utele Beach offers easier access to the interior of the island but has no cuts in the reef which makes boat access much more difficult. One of the team (from the blog) had to leave the island and attend the hospital in Apia to remove an insect from inside the ear. Both islands were used as leper islands in the 1900's (as were the Cook Islands).
Not sure if this is necessarily going to apply to Samoa at all, and of course could be a **** Hatch delusion, but he is asking for an early release from prison to "make a guest appearance" on Survivor. May 12 is earlier than Samoa's last-week-in-June start date but if anything at all, it'd probably season 20

It sounds more like he wants to be released to spend time with his husband and to be available to be on Season 20 if called. I doubt CBS would want him back though.
Haha, I just posted a thread about that. :)
What did Jeff mean when he said, "This fall Survivor wraps up for an incredible 19th season." As in done? Concludes?!!
What did Jeff mean when he said, "This fall Survivor wraps up for an incredible 19th season." As in done? Concludes?!!
I hope not!!! Doesn't his contract last for 2 more seasons?!?! (Samoa and Survivor 20)
He's contracted through 20, isn't he?
He's contracted through 20, isn't he?
I had read that awhile back. Still, the language was awkward if that is not what they were trying to convey.
Just got around to this...I heard ramps up.
That is it. ;)
That is it. ;)
Survivor will live forever as long as the next couple seasons don't have horrible ratings or Jeff gets ran over by a Rhino. Actually I hope this season picks up....cause last season I said that Tocantins would be a pick up from Gabon and now I am hoping Samoa is a pick up from this season.

I personally hope Samoa picks up from Gabon.

I think CBS is closely watching to see how the last few seasons have done, ratings-wise, and are purposely placing an all-star season 20th to boost ratings to pitch for another 4 seasons. I think if they do end up doing an AS season and it doesn't do well, that'll be the end for Survivor. Unfortunately for them, the last two seasons haven't been very dynamic. I don't think Gabon or Tocantins picked up from Micronesia. Hopefully they can get a big boost from Samoa.
I dont think that Tocantins picked up from Gabon. In the end there was people that you could be invested in winning. Tocantins didn't really have that for me personally.
I don't know about that. If they do manage to hit it out of the park then we will get more seasons. But should it flop then...it'd be sad for Survivor to go out that way.
I think it's about time for survivor to stop invading peaceful secluded islands, and tainting the paradise with soap opera mentality. The last thing Samoa needs is another resort taking advantage of the people and the land. Try survivor east LA and see how entertaining it is. The one thing that makes Samoa beautiful is the fact that they have kept their heritage and traditions alive and well, they have pride, unlike other south pacific countries like Fiji or Tahiti, that have sacrificed that for money. Once the land has been compromised that is the beginning of the end. Tourists come and leave with a tan, but what is left for Samoa, A few jobs. None of the money that will be raised by the show will go to help the school system, healthcare, infrastructure, etc. All the money will go to the creators of the show and the resort that follows will only create a few jobs, but will not in any way, help Samoa. I know, I lived there for three and a half years, PCV. Most of the resorts treat the locals very poorly, sometimes involving drugs(ice) and prostitution brought in from American Samoa,(about 40 miles east of Samoa). The sooner they get the show over with, the better.
