Although I agree that Devyn's situation was probably edited to seem worse than it actually was, some of the comments she made in the confessional struck me as very shallow. The size of the engagement ring should not determine whether you marry someone or not. The guys should have minded their own business, but they did have a point about her love triangle (or whatever it was). I thought the prank was funny, but I did feel bad for Sarah. Nobody deserves getting rat ***** all over the clean bedsheets they just put on.

Actually after carefully reviewing the tape, I've concluded that the clip of Devyn to which you refer is not a confessional. It is a scheduled interview with the production team where they ask specific questions designed to fill in the story line in the absence of a narrator or sufficient live audio. There are segments of two different interviews with Devyn that are shown. How do we know this? Easy, she is wearing two different dresses: one is black the other is a red print. They obviously were conducted at different times. Generally this happens when a producer determines they need to package the video differently. These interviews are not random "confessional" unburdening by the cast member; rather, they are directed conversations with production who has a list of questions they need answered in a specific way for editing into the show. It is not uncommon for the cast to hear. "OK, great, now can you say it like this... And please incorporate the question into your answer. We don't know what Devyn said before or after the sentence about the size of the ring, but we know from past seasons that the editors 'frankenbite" and also don't want us to know actual context. Clearly Devyn would realize she would look foolish if she were openly so materialistic. Having met her on a couple of occasions, I know that she is not foolish. There is more to the story.
Very dissapointed .... No sneak peek for the next episode and they didnt include the mid-season preview in the full episode at mtv.com!
Very dissapointed .... No sneak peek for the next episode and they didnt include the mid-season preview in the full episode at mtv.com!
Maybe this is a good thing! Perhaps BMP is recutting the rest of the season. That would be a good idea. Jackie, I hope you are reading this... It would be a very, very good thing.
Maybe this is a good thing! Perhaps BMP is recutting the rest of the season. That would be a good idea. Jackie, I hope you are reading this... It would be a very, very good idea.
It maybe so, but I just hope that the rest of the show does as well as it started off. *fingers crossed*. But yes my input of this episode is pretty much this: - Terrible storyline with the rats. I thought that the prank overall was hilarious, but still this was a total waste of an episode. There is plenty of more interesting footage to show than just a stupid rat prank. - I thought it was pretty nice of J.D. to have the lil connection with the rat. It showed the nice side of him. lol - I thought it was inappropriate for the boys to trash Devyn like that in those confessionals, and I thought it was even MORE inappropriate to provoke her while they know that she is trying to handle certain things. Although I do agree that it is a little messed up for Devyn to do that. - I dont know the whole backstory between Devyn and Davids relationship so I wont go judging on what I see on the edit when the show aired, and since this was pretty much the only thing that was shown on this episode, I am pretty much finished.

You can say what you want about BMP, but they seem pretty good at turning people into gold-diggers through the magic of editing.
woah where did she come from. I didn't know she came to visit.
When you don't quote a previous post, we have no idea what you are talking about -- or at least I don't.
Devyn did have something to say about this episode on her website.
Dear Fans and Viewers - As many of you know, tonight's episode portrayed me at a point in my life where I was transitioning from the end of a long-term relationship to new personal and professional endeavors. First and foremost, I will always share a great deal of affection and respect for David, as he and I have experienced extensive growth as a result of having each other in our lives. Unfortunately, due to the difficult nature the culmination of relationships entail, the producers of MTV Real World chose to illustrate the more turbulent times of our relationship. It is my hope that tonight's episode encapsulated the spirit of The Real World Brooklyn and provided a poignant and meaningful example that resonates with viewers and creates dialogue about the struggles relevant to relationships in our lives.

When you don't quote a previous post, we have no idea what you are talking about -- or at least I don't.
My fault. I was referring to Belle Ryan's girl.
To me anyone who goes through a life like he has, can pull a prank, or get upset about being woken up in the middle of the night. and I believe if I were his roomate, I would be a little more understanding about the dishing but not being able to take it. especially about being woken up in the middle of the night. I understand that he did it to Devyn, and it might have been hypocritical but i think its a little diffrent , who knows what he was woken up by in the past.
I made a comment about Ryan getting upset about being woken up when JD played a prank on him and comparing it to him waking up Devyn by putting the rat in her bed and causing Sarah to have to clean up when it happened to her, so maybe the above comments are at least in part directed to me. Initially, from the previews of the shaving cream episode, I thought that Ryan got so upset at JD pranking him with the shaving cream that night because being woken up might irritate him because of something he experienced in war. So I was symphatizing with Ryan before the episode aired (but not judging JD on it, because I figured he didn't mean it in a bad way). However, during the episode, Ryan explained he got so upset with JD because it wasn't deemed to be a good prank in his eyes, he didn't want to clean it up, and he didn't like getting woken up. It seemed it had nothing to do with having been in the war based on his explanation and what was shown afterwards. When he talked about stuff reminding him of the war, he talked about trash and other stuff that was not related to JD pranking him. So, I took this prank that was pulled on Devyn and Sarah and compared it to what happened to him. I don't think he would have appreciated having been woken up and having to clean up a mess caused by this prank based on the time he was pranked by JD. I don't know, perhaps he would have thought it was a worthy prank had someone pulled it on him and wouldn't have gotten as annoyed, but I feel if he wants people to respect him while he is sleeping and to not make a mess so that he doesn't have to clean it up, then he could extend that respect to others. I don't dislike Ryan nor any of the other roommates. I actually find all of the eight cast mates at least a little likeable at times. I actually don't really hate anyone, and I also understand that there could be good parts of these people that are not shown on TV. But having said all of that, sometimes I disagree with certain cast members a lot or don't care much for one based on what I've seen. Some people I don't really want to watch. But I don't like to really degrade them, or people in general. This group though, I care about them all so far and I don't think they are bad people. I'm not opposed to seeing any of them in the future - for challenges and whatever else. But that doesn't mean I will agree with everything they do. This week/episode, I am just upset with the actions and statements of the guys. I thought they took things to a nasty level, especially on the dailies. But I have also agreed with them at times and have on occasion stuck up for them on certain issues. P.S. I agree that Katelynn's "I'm Sherlock and y'all are my Watsons" comment was funny.

I just seen the preview for the next brooklyn episode...it looks INTENSE.
The funniest thing ever said on RW: "I'm Sherlock Holmes, y'all my Watsons!" LMAO!! I love Katelynn! As for JD and the whole smoochy face with the rat, it only strengthens my conclusion about him being so close to animals because he doesn't know how to deal with people. Is he going to buy a puppy next week? LOL

I don't know if it's been mentioned before...but does anyone else wonder if, in the opening credits, when you hear "Get the phone!"-after "when people stop being polite"- if that's a shout out to the first season? Is BMP that clever?

When Heather said "Will you get the phone?!" in the intro it IS similar to J.D's line after the "Stop being polite" line. Hmmm .... I dont know what this means. But yeah its something. But maybe its just a coinscidence.
Omg I just saw the preview of the next episode, It is gonna be an AWESOME thing to watch!! It looks so frikken intense! J.D ripping the phone from devyn, and breaking the table and Sarah and Katelynn fighting with JD, Ryan, and Chet , and Baya also getting into it?!?!?! Ohh, all of you HAVE to see it.

Paperplane. we can't say the cast has failed...we only know what BMP shows us. Baya has a steady dj-ing gig and Katelynn sure has become and advocate and role model to many. I'd say that's something...
They don't care about her cheating and David's feelings---they were just looking for a reason to justify their dislike of Devyn. Had it been one of the guys in player mode they would've been congratulating each other. Hypocrites.
I don't see the dislike thing for Devyn at all. Maybe it was really just the guy code. hehe
I don't see the dislike thing for Devyn at all. Maybe it was really just the guy code. hehe
I don't know for sure if you are joking - you put the "hehe" at the end, but you could have put that because your opinion differs from some of us. If you weren't joking, you must check out the dailies from the past couple of weeks to understand what realitywedding and some of us are talking about. It was not just the guy code. If that was the case, why would they do the same thing to Sarah? They did not pull this one on the other girls. The most recent episode made light of how the guys were reacting to Devyn. The dailies have shown Ryan really bashing Devyn's looks because said she stole his chicken wings, JD and the guys were talking about her feet, Chet and Scott had a conversation and they were talking bad about her (looks, feeling like punching her, calling her lazy and questioning why she was on the show/out in Brooklyn), etc. They talked negatively about her quite a bit in a number of dailies. It wasn't just joking. Maybe in some instances, but they really did not seem fond of her at this point in time. Also, they disliked Sarah as well - Katelynn even told her in one of the dailies that the guys dislike her, and it is clear from how Ryan and Chet talk about her that they really had issues with Sarah. There was a reason Devyn and Sarah were picked to be the victims of the rat in the bed prank. I'm not saying or speculating that no one else in the house were victims of the guys' pranks - we've seen them prank a number of people, but the guys specifically did that rat prank to them for a reason. You can see in the episode that JD was annoyed with them over the gender difference argument they had the previous episode - he talked about that and he was the one who came up with the idea to prank them.

There's no thread for this yet, but seeing next week episode, I'm officially disgusted by JD. I may not have seen the episode yet, but here are my reasons. For one as a Hispanic, I'm disgusted by his behavior to act as a child, I tought he can show viewers, there are many nice Hispanics out there, who don't do drugs or aren't in gangs. He had no business getting involve with the Devyn, and her "boyfriend." He talk down to Devyn, when he was drunk, and called her out on her singing. He then has the nerve to make the college comment to Devyn, and telling the guys Kate is transgender. In next week episode, he snatches the phone away from Devyn, and completely destroyed the table. If I would have done this Real World season, me and JD would have clash A LOT, to the point where I will get physical (no-patience). His persona (edited or not) makes me angry inside. Sometimes I wish there was someone from the Bad girls club, or I love money, to just snap and kick him LOL. Sorry I might sound crazy, and like an idiot, but I could only take so much of a person. I hope Devyn and/or Kate made his life a living hell for the rest of the season.
... I hope Devyn and/or Kate made his life a living hell for the rest of the season.
We honestly don't need to. He sees how bad it is, he tries and backpedals and makes excuses, but he's burned bridges. Even in interviews with media outlets (check his thread here on Vevmo for a link) he just cannot refrain from showing his evil side. The only part that sucks is that the rest of the male cast still refuse to see it, and that's sad. Maybe it'll take him introducing a fellow army friend to Ryan as someone who is sooo much better at being a soldier than him, or screwing up one of Scott's modeling gigs before the the other boys will acknowledge his personality. Granted they may have seen a totally different side of him, but how can you ignore something that is right in front of your face every single week?
but how can you ignore something that is right in front of your face every single week?
If I were one of your roomies, I would see it loud and clear XD

LOL Kate, your making me hate him so much more. I really think JD is also playing with the other guys head. I'm suprise they haven't notice his behavior it's sad. JD will not survive on a challenge. I could honestly say that. Now I want to audition for the next RW, just to do a challenge, and call him out LOL. I'm just ****, because I had a friend like that once. Someone who treated me like shit, and use to talk behind my back, and played with my other friends mind, to talk about me in a negative way. What ended up happening was I had to get physical, and resolved it, because when we discuss about his behavior he never changed, and continued his ways, until we fought, and his mouth was shut. I'm so passionate about hating JD, because of that experience. So I hope the guys notice JDs real agenda, and hopefully you guys tear him up on the reunion.

BTW thanks for the reply Kate. Much love.

As far as that goes, I must say I haven't watched the dailies. Maybe if I did I may agree somewhat with what your saying, but I think a lot of the things they say about the woman are said tongue in cheek to get a reaction. Otherwords, they are just being guys and don't actually hate her, but I could be wrong.
It's not often that I say "I wish I'd written that." Great analysis; thanks for sharing it.
Awww shucks thanks  I agree with the others if you haven't seen the dailies I would suggest checking them out. I watched a few Wednesday and the smack the guys are talking is pretty vicious. I was especially annoyed with "I'm better than that" Chet taking personal pot shots and Scott who's supposed to be Devyn's friend insulting her looks and talking about wanting to punch her. Given the fact that Devyn and Scott live together I hope this didn't come as much of a shock to her as it did to me and that they worked out whatever it was that was going on between them. Ironic how the guys are coming down on the fems for supposedly being b*****s yet they are the ones acting like petty little school girls. I also disagree that Scott and Chet are the only ones going out and following their dreams, pretty much the only ones I've seen NOT doing anything except being ******* is JD and Ryan (unless you count him networking in a bar and then auditioning with "the tampon song" at what could have been a once in a lifetime opportunity).
I don't see the dislike thing for Devyn at all. Maybe it was really just the guy code. hehe
Watch the Dailies. The edit on the show is tame compared to their hate on the Dailies. ETA: RW561015 beat me to it. Hello everyone, I've never posted before, just read all the comments. Anyway, about this episode, I did feel it was silly for the whole episode to be about the rat incident. I wish there was more focus on something else. I loved how the girls figured it out. I do really like this cast the majority of the time. Also, I think is great to see Katelynn post on this site, as well as the others. I so wish we see more of Baya as the season progresses. Like seriously, im tired of her just having cameo appearences.

I dont know him so I cant really speak for him, but even from the beginning he has said he doesnt want to be judged on being an army guy. I dont know what it is about him, he makes me feel motherly I guess?
