Oh and I forgot to mention how disappointed I was that MTV used the rat storyline for an hour long episode. Really?
You make an excellent point. For me, this is yet one more example that BMP has taken the easy route to editing the episodes this season. If this had been produced as a academic effort, it would have earned a C+ from me at best. (BTW, MTV doesn't edit the show)

haha yeah after I wrote that I was going to change it to BMP, but then I got lazy haha.
yeah definately more baya, she seems so sweet and innocent. but does that mean she could be the one with the biggest secret??? anyway yeah there seems to be some stuff out on the net saying something about early rap for the season. any word what that is about, murder suicide maybe????

I think in the future I am going to refrain from commenting until the episode is done airing. LOL
I'm glad that Devyn was better able to explain her relationship status with David. Even though, I agree with Chet's sentiment, I don't think it was his place to pass judgment on her or lecture her.

For some reason, I'm often left with the impression that Chet willingly pass judgment on someone using the wrong fork with a desert course if he could get camera time.
Hey everyone! I just wanted to stop in and say hello! In case you missed it... I was the one drinking the beer with the girls, or with the wife beater meeting Belle. I just thought I would remind you who I was since you may have forgotten what I look like/that I exist by now :). Juuuuust kidding.
What they missed:
That night at Angels and Kings I KILLED it on the ones and twos :)
V1, Wow, you were hard on Chet. I don't find anything he did to deserve any of the wrath you've given him on this thread. I have heard nothing but pleasant things from most of the castmembers so maybe it was just this episode that bothers you. On the other hand Devyn is buggin me. Just thought I would be the opposing voice. Yet, I do agree with you most of the time aside from tonight.
I don't get why the guys care about what Devyn was doing with the 2 guy friends. Really? Who cares? I would have let that one go. However, I find the prank stuff entertaining. It's something that I can totally see happening if I was in that situation. Think about it though. What the hell else do they have to do?

...what? Are you serious? Is that actually a serious thought running through your head? How the eff do you get early rap=felony? Plus, don't you think we would have heard something about that?
Weird...and sadistic.

Personally, I don't think I was hard or harsh. If you want wrath from me, you should read my comments regarding "he who shall not be named" during the Hollywood season.
I've been very supportive of Chet in previous episodes, even when show cast members have privately said negative things about him. Clearly, I found him irritating in this episode, but I'm being critical here of Chet the "character" in episode 7, not Chet the person. Perhaps if Chet were to come here to explain himself in the episode or to tell us why the edit is unfair, I'd find that redeeming. It may be his interviews that I find the most annoying, those times when it is just Chet and the camera, and his tendency toward a narcissistic self-image. I still enjoy his quirky nature and his in-your-face fashion attitude. He could lose the BCGs, though; no one should wear those things should they? They are beyond retro.
As for Devyn, you and I shall just have to disagree, albeit respectfully.
I think this season so far isn't up to par with other seasons in the past. The roomates this season are good but I think adding an eight cast member creates a problem becuase viewers see less of some people (Baya).
PS Baya you are adorable, and you are the first roomate since the blond in New orleanse (not Julie) to be a good person on this show. If you are a good person and don't start drama then you won't be featured more on the show. AKA Puck
Ok it just started here! Er, Scott...you are holding a dead rat in one hand and eating a sandwich in the other...lol
YES! I'm glad I wasn't the only one going WTF about that, that's just plain nasty hahaha.
I liked this episode, I'm not sure what kind of action people are waiting for because I think a lot has happened. True, none of the housemates have hooked up yet so maybe that's what people are waiting for. But after 10 seasons of drunken ill advised screwing I'm over it so I'm still finding this season refreshing.
Ryan, Chet and Scott need to mind their business about Devyn's relationship. For them to take it upon themselves to be the "cheater patrol" without even knowing the full story is just lame, clearly the book passage that says: "judge not, that you be not judged" isn't included in the mormon bible. Good thing I'm not so religious otherwise I'd probably choke on my own hypocrisy - but that's just me. But I agree with the earlier poster that gave him props for at least saying to her face what he was saying behind her back, unlike the other guys, especially the one(s) that claim to be her friend.
To a certain extent I could see Scott saying something because of all the flirting between the two of them that was going on earlier and Devyn commenting about him bringing home multiple girls. But his reaction (especially what they showed in the dailies that was yet again omitted from the actual episode) was way over the top, he was talking about how he wanted to hit her and I don't have a whole lot of respect for that. But it's clear they are keeping with the good guy edit. I also noticed from the dailies (and post season interviews) that they are giving dolphin boy a way better spin than he deserves which is saying alot since he's already coming off like a tool. And Ryan was clearly using the boyfriend thing as an excuse to go after Devyn because of his personal feelings towards her, still wondering if he ever came clean to his girlfriend about his flirting with Baya.
As far as the whole gender war thing goes, I'm going to have to say I'm on Team Estrogen. The rat prank wasn't funny nor was it particularly creative however the all girl scooby gang part of the episode was hilarious way funnier than any of the crap the guys are pulling. Sarah's boyfriend pointing out how weird it was that the rats were white and Devyn's mother confirming the prank theory, classic. Them going to gym to look for evidence and then getting distracted by the equipment was really funny, especially Devyn in her jeweled sandals standing on the bosu ball talking about working out again while Katelynn and Sarah were playing with the other equipment. Also the girls whispering "act normal" when Chet came home and then talking about how beautiful the waning sunset was like that was normal! By the time they cracked the mystery and Katelynn proclaimed "I'M Sherlock Holmes, ya'll are my Watsons" I was lmao.
Also dolphin boy connecting with the mouse was oddly touching. It seems he socializes better with non humans, kind reminded me of that movie Ben. . .

They don't care about her cheating and David's feelings---they were just looking for a reason to justify their dislike of Devyn. Had it been one of the guys in player mode they would've been congratulating each other. Hypocrites.

It's not often that I say "I wish I'd written that." Great analysis; thanks for sharing it.
The rat prank was gross, I think it looked like the girls took it pretty well.
It seemed to me like Chet, in particular, put in a lot of energy into Devyn possibly dating two guys. I understand if you don't agree with it, but man let it go after a while.
How many times does Chet wear the Orvil Reddenbacher outfit? Some of his outfits, make me think he's trying to go for a Kanye look, but missing the mark.
I walked out of the room when they put the rat in Sarah's bed, what was the reason for that?
After reading though all the comments and fully appreciating the opinions offered, I am going to go out on a limb and say the episode was quite tame.
As a person who appreciates a good prank (I've spent $250 on aluminum foil in a single store visit) I didn't find that the cute white rat debacle was outside the bounds of decency. It provided a bonding experience for the guys and no one really got hurt.
Sure, rather than it be in the spirit of fun it edged on malice and it definitely did not go far to bridge the divide between the men and women of the house - but in the end it was harmless...
(BTW: I did enjoy the sleuthing by the girls!)
As for the situation with Devyn, I did not watch the Dallies so I only have the perspective offered in the edit. I thought that it was unfair to David that she was keeping confidence with other men and not sharing that fact. I also will take her at her word when she says there are other factors involved that complicate the situation.
Still, it seemed wrong.
As for the house reaction, I do think that the guys had every right to question her actions being she was doing the same thing to Scott just an episode ago. However, it was a bit childish to be attempting to call her out in front of David.
I thought the overall episode was very funny. (although had it been me being pranked, I am sure, it wouldnt have been). I thought the girls running around doing detective work was one of the funniest moments in real world history. But where was Baya?
I am just wondering why there doesnt seem to be much support for Ryan on this board? everytime I see him on TV my heart goes out to him.I cant imagine what its like living your life while evrything around you goes to the *******. I hope he doesnt have to go back to Iraq, and I hope he doenst have to go through any more loss of lives by his friends. I know he's a prankester and a little immature, but maybe its his way of dealing with his life? All I know is that I am sure I couldnt handle what he went through, and I am grateful to him for protecting me and our country. So if he doesnt understand Katelynn,or he gets freaked out by the woman who kissed him in a club, for some reason I am just not that fast to pass judgement on him.

I don't think there is a real lack of support for Ryan, but people react differently for a wide variety of reasons. Baya has said that Ryan is a lovable guy so there is no reason to believe he isn't. I think the problem for some people is that while we want to like Ryan (Read the earlier episode comments), the editors have completely emasculated him into being another sad victim of PTSD with arrested high school behavior -- which he is not. With such ambiguity, again thanks to BMP, it's understandable that people don't write more supportive comments about him, because you really don't know if the editors are going to give us something worse than "Gettysburg" next week.
I thought this was an okay episode, it probably would've been better if the focus wasn't on rats. If I found a rat in my bed I would've freaked out alot worse than Devyn or Sarah did. I'm not really afraid of rats, just the thought of finding them while I'm sleeping freaks me out. But I guess seeing JD end up having a connection with the rat was nice, considering how he reacted to the rats at the beginning of the episode.
I think Ryan, Scott, and Chet were being a little immature. Devyn was on Scott's case when he was bringing girls home, so I guess I can see where he was coming from (not to use that as an excuse for him). But I do agree with Chet in how he was saying that Devyn should've told David what was going on, but I think that the guys went a little overboard trying to give her the message, or trying to tell David themselves. Devyn is deffinetly mature enough to handle it herself and in the end I was glad to see her tell David.
The preview for the rest of the season looks really good. It seems like there's some good stuff to come.

I dont know maybe its because I am such an emotional person that every episode I see him, and I want to cry fo him. Maybe its because I have never had contact with a someone who served in the army before, and so I see him as my only connection to young men and women ,who might never return to their families. I want to know more about him, I am curious about Katelynn, but if I got to talk to someone in the house it would most definatly be Ryan. To me anyone who goes through a life like he has, can pull a prank, or get upset about being woken up in the middle of the night. and I believe if I were his roomate, I would be a little more understanding about the dishing but not being able to take it. especially about being woken up in the middle of the night. I understand that he did it to Devyn, and it might have been hypocritical but i think its a little diffrent , who knows what he was woken up by in the past.

Honestly, I don't think Ryan would want you to let him off without critical assessment. Being in combat does not excuse one from "life," it only explains a possible contributing cause to one's reactions to stimuli. I expect Ryan did far more learning on this show that we are going to see in any episode. I hope I'm wrong and we see growth and transformation, but I don't see BMP actually understanding Ryan at all.
