Yeah I saw the movie and I think that both Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson (my future husband :D) were both great, I thought that KS's Bella was very believable and I was okay with her not being too clumsy, I think it will come out more in the next movie. I was dissapointed that they did not use the "Dazzle" lines from the book because it could have been really cute. I was also a lil unhappy with Edwards skin's reaction to the sunlight...it could have been sooo much better. Overall I thought it was a great movie and I will go see it again...prolly a few times to be honest, :). I am so in love with RP right now...so I am going to soak him up as much as I can, my husband is super jealous because I love Edward AND I love the guy who plays Edward so I am always teasing him about it, LOL.
I saw the movie yesterday (I've read all the books). I thought it was really good, considering having to jam 300 pages into 2 hours. I wish that they would've shown more of Jacob/Bella's relationship and Edward/Bella (it seemed soooooo fast), oh and Bella and Alice's friendship.
I agree I missed Alice and Bella BUT Bella and Jacob didn't really interact that much in book 1 so I can understand how they didn't run with that relationship...yet wait until New Moon then Team Jacob fans will be coming out of the woodwork, LOL. (But wasn't the book more like 600 pages?)

I've seen it 3 times already...I'm just a little obsessed.
I've seen it 3 times already...I'm just a little obsessed.
Yeah me too...3 times and counting, hehehe. I can't wait for it to come out on DVD. I am considering sending in my headshot for the part of Jane in "New Moon"...I think it would be a lot of fun. I know she is described as child/teen-ish but I know I can pull it off easily, LOL.
I'm going to tick some people off here, sorry in advance. First just let me stress that I LOVED the book. Absolutely loved it. I wasn't at all disappointed that they cast Robert Pattinson, when I first heard about. I thought he would be perfect for Edward. But, I feel the movie was lacking in some many ways. It failed to capture the essence of Edward and Bella. The relationship pull and the need for one another was not transparent on the screen. To depict all this and still make a 2 hour movie, they needed to let the audience in on Edward's thoughts. His inner turmoil, his struggle, his obsession and his love. I read an article in EW with and about Pattinson and Stewart. It was repeatedly mentioned that the two of them tried to dissect the characters so they can portray it properly. In essence taking things way too seriously. I think it was apparent in some scenes, like the hospital ... where Stewart was clearly over acting. And Pattinson...some scenes made me cringe, especially in the beginning. The first day in Biology. OMG that was horrid. He looked like he was seconds away from vomiting. No wonder Bella had to sniff herself to see if she stank, he looked like he was smelling rotten eggs. I'm not sure what I was expecting. Maybe more sophisticated special effects. The sparkling Edward, was disappointing. The running....come on. Can anyone say "Beep Beep". I don't have any complaints about some of the changes. It worked well for the screen play so it makes sense. It's just the whole point of Twilight is the relationship of Edward and Bella and for them to not get it perfect is very disappointing. Oh and I loved Jasper. But I wish they hadn't cut out most of his parts. Especially at the end. The interaction with Bella, Jasper, Emmett and Alice was great in the book. Of all the things that were cut/changed I think they made a mistake of altering the escape scenes.

I wish the Cullens were in more scenes also.
I would be the first to admit that there are a lot of flaws in the movie...I choose to take it with a grain of salt since not everyone who sees the movie has read the book. I was very disappointed with the sunlight sparkle as well, but it is what it is and I figured maybe they can make it better next time. Was the movie perfect...no, but was it a good movie...in my opinion yes it was. Was there some corny acting...heck yeah, but it is a teen movie after all, and there were some really good parts as well. I think overall the movie series will redeem theirselves in the next 2 movies and wind the story together better than what was done in the first one alone. I think the main reason I love it so much is because I love Robert Pattinson though, LOL.
I am hoping that because it did so well they will be able to have a better budget. For anyone that has itunes, I downloaded their podcast of a Q&A session with Katherine Hardwick and Robert Pattinson, and it's pretty good. It's fun to hear what they have to say about filming the movie (it was done before the movie was released). You do have to get over the crazy teenage girls screaming at everything Robert says though... Overall I loved the movie, but it was flawed and was not as enjoyable as the book. Hopefully they will see how many passionate fans are out there and really step it on New Moon.

I just started reading the 2nd book. I didn't think I would like the first. I reluctantly purchased it because a friend suggested it. I'm hooked!! I'm not going to read through this thread... I dont want anything to be spoiled for me.. Can someone tell me if all spoilers are tagged? Will this thread ruin anything for me??

Did anyone else catch Steven King slamming the twilight series? Haha, I thought it was funny. Stephen King says "Twilight" author can't write.

I thought it was funny too...but he also came off kind of bitter that her movie and books have done so well. Sure, he is one of the greatest authors of his time but the way he did that made him seem really salty about her success...almost like he was jealous. There was no reason for it imo other than to get his name associated with anything Stephanie Meyer related since she is in the news now and he is not. I am done fixing spoilers Insider...I didn't take out anything fromt he first book or anything discussing the movie, but everything else has been tagged.
I. LOVE. Stephen. King. Hands down one of my favorites. (sorry to go OT girls....)
Don't get me wrong, I do too (I read a lot of his books in the 5th grade!)...I just thought it was really shady of him to bring her up to get his name into the big media headlines.

Thank you so much Stacee. I agree with you guys about Stephen King. Is Twilight even the same genre as his stuff? To me, it seems more like a star crossed lovers tale... that happens to involve the supernatural. I just finished the second book as well. I'm only a few pages into the third. I'm completely obsessed.
Welcome to the club Insider. Here's something pathetic- I put the audiobooks on my ipod so that when I am completely stressed between work, grad school, and my husband leaving in a few months for basic training- I go to bed and listen to one of the books until I fall asleep.

I kept getting honked at at the red lights, hahaha.

LOL...It is sad but I now hold my man to "Edward" standards, but I am also in love with Robert Pattinson so when he makes me mad I tell him that I am going to London to find my real man and we are going to move onto our own private island, :D

My best friend is also OBSESSED with this series. Talks about it ALL THE TIME. Well, she was just telling me a few weeks ago, her and her hubby got into a spat over something stupid (we all know how that goes) and he actually ended up saying to her: "Maybe you'd like me better if I was a vampire!". Oh man we just laughed our ***** off!! And yes, he realized how immature he sounded lol.

I just learned that Forks is a real place! lol An old friend of mine lives in Washington and she took her daughter there. Here are a couple of pictures she took. Yes it is realy she did all her research before choosing Forks. If you really look you will find some AMAZING pics of the forest around there which is breathtaking. I've been watching this conversation and there are so many places I could go with it....alas, I am a gentleman to the end.
