Remember to include The ---- they didn't show. As a special treat you could throw in all of productions gag reels.

If they released RW Hollywood those same kids would be buying it up as well bc thats what is current. All of the Old School RW fans would buy up the older seasons plus current seasons. That is my point and that is my hard facts. Period.
That is my point and that is my hard facts. Period.
We can go in circles all day with this, the reality and hard facts are: it is not a profitable endeavor and will not happen. If Viacom thought for a second there were millions to be made selling Real World Hollywood DVDs, they'd do it. Media companies are all about making money and as much as we personally like the series, it does not have as broad an appeal as The Hills (which gets a more affluent, slightly older female demo - who are buying the DVDs.) I think realitywedding has a point. If they did a box set with say, seasons 1-10 with lots of bonus materials and then 11-20 with the same - there might be more interest.
Ok dude peace!
Does this uniquely special offer include a personally autographed picture of Bacchus?
I think B should throw it into the package!
Lol..No on DVD...but I was smart enough to leave out .."The ==== I would not show my Grandchildren"
awww, but it would be funny to show them once they were old enough to have a good laugh with you guys about how crazy and fun thier mom (since I am assuming you mean Colie's future kids) was when she was young. I know I love hearing my mom's stories from when she was young and wild...those are some of my dearest memories because of how much we would just laugh and laugh at all the crazy stuff we both did growing up, LOL.

My Mom is now apologizing for wishing that I would have children just like myself. Colie likes to think of me as a conservative PTA mom. You would never think that a personality like hers would freak every time I tell her about growing up in the "70's".

I don't think I'd ever buy seasons on DVD....but I'd definitely rent some on Netflix!
I don't think I'd ever buy seasons on DVD....but I'd definitely rent some on Netflix!
And that is the netflix rub. By default, it lowers DVD sales. Expect netflix rates to go up as the market tightens.
Last night on ABC news, they said in this economy (plus the fact that they are incorporating new innovation), Netflix's revenues went up something like 48% last quarter. Just an interesting side comment... ETA: oops, I commented in this thread before I even saw the Netflix thread
I think realitywedding has a point. If they did a box set with say, seasons 1-10 with lots of bonus materials and then 11-20 with the same - there might be more interest.
That is exactly how I'd want to buy the show if it was released on DVD only - as a box set (or a couple of box sets); I thought about it in my head as a possible way to sell them. If they ever released the old seasons on DVD, I'd think that would be the best way. I think there could be more interest in it that way as well. That and digital sales. I have three favorite seasons in the first 10 seasons, one season I want to see (New Orleans), the first season I saw (San Francisco), and I enjoy the first season from what I've seen so far. I'm not using it as an argument for MTV to release RW DVDs nor am I saying the sales were good or way better for the Vegas season back when it was released, but The Hills was released years later, which could have a big impact on it being ranked much higher than the Vegas season on Amazon currently. Of course if the RW DVDs were very popular items, though, they would be ranked much higher (as popular items can be ranked well after years). The big problem that I could forsee, at least I'd think, for releasing past seasons of the show would be the opportunity lost to capture that specific audience. I think perhaps RW DVDs (or challenges) of the current seasons, if released just after the show, could do similar in sales to some of the other MTV shows released. Probably not as well as shows like Laguna Beach and its spin-offs, but perhaps comparable to some of the less popular than Laguna Beach/spin-offs. But once again, I don't know how well those shows sold. Just because they were on DVDs don't mean they sold well. It would be really interesting to me just to see how they did, though.
