Oh ok thanks. Was information about the identity of the castmembers posted on here at all before they got to NY? Or this is information that only becomes available once they get to the house and they start to be seen in public?
I'm curious whether Kate's identity (and not the fact that she's transgender) was posted online and maybe Ryan, being as curious as he seems to be lol, went online and googled her and that's how he found out. I know she's had a blog for a while so technically anyone who knew her name could find out that she was transgender by reading that blog or her blogs on her myspace.
The seasons are shot before the show is aired on TV. Plus, I think they have restricted internet access during the season as well.
No I meant nothing racist by the Devyn comment. What I meant is there are people I know who automatically like the african american female(never the males for some reasons) just because they are black and they feel afraid to be labeled for putting the "minoritys" last. Mainly the board I came from that is currently dead did this so i assumed all reality boards were the same.
Let me adjust. It will take a few weeks.
That is so true. Especially the IMDB ones.
Yeah, I know, I meant that if he knew the names of the castmembers before getting to NY he could've done that. I guess he just has a good LGBT-dar lol.
That's impossible. If this was the Hills yes but people who make the show don't know each other to they get to the house. Well except the ones where they had the casting special.
There are lots of stories told about cast members from past seasons who did run into each other during the long casting process. It is also possible that one of the cast associates told Chet, Baya or both that there was someone else from Salt Lake City. Or, and the most likely possibility, the full reaction was edited out. I looked at that part of the show on my production deck in the past hour and can see some hard audio and video edit points, so I know they cut out some meat from that segment. It's really another hip pocket question to remember to ask Chet or Baya when the opportunity arises.

Thank you for clarifying that.

We understand your need to adjust just keep in mind that we are nothing like your previous boards...we respect people here AND the casts we speak about. There is a difference between asking a question or stating an opinion and sticking your opinion into a snarky comment to try to justify it.
I am very excited to see how well Baya does in dance with her auditions and such...it is sucha brutal industry and she just seems so nice and sweet.

I hardly think that people from tv.com saying "The new RW sucksssssssss! They cast is soooo boring. Not feelin it at all" or "And the new real world was blah, from the season preview it doesn't look like there will be that much drama, seems kind of boring" holds any clout with the ratings, if they want drama then they should just watch rock of love or something mindless like that.
At least one person over there has a good opinion on it.
Also, is it just me or do some of the castmembers remind me of some past RW alum?
Baya- reminds me of Julie from the first season without the naivete.
Chet- reminds me of Matt from NO, maybe a little more confrontational.
Sarah- reminds me of a mix of Sarah from Miami and Becky for some reason.
I missed the first part of the episode and I was wonder if Katelynn mentioned her family's reaction to her surgery or choice to appear on the show. I am hoping that she has family members appear in an episode. There are so many different opinions on the transgender lifestyle I was curious what her family feels. I think her relationship with her family would be a very interesting storyline, if she chose to share that.

When I clicked that link I got reviews for Degrassi: The Next Generation.
Thanks :)
Thanks for the info, I didn't watch RW, season 1 so I didn't know. Sometimes I wish they would air a marathon of the first seasons so we could see how different it was back then.
dplayer answered upthread, but yes, it's on Ning (I loaded them there) and also on my YouTube channel. Posting them gave younger viewers a chance to see what RW is like before it became a drunken **** show, and I am grateful for that. (With how Brooklyn's going, younger viewers will get a chance to see a newer season which isn't about the 24-hour party, which is also cool.)
Speaking of getting back to roots, did anyone hear the "Get the phone!" during the cast credits? Took me back to Heather's "Would ya get the phone?" from the season 1 cast credits.

Yes!! Haha, I noticed the same thing! And it was during the same moment in the credits as well. 'Twas a nice little homage there to the original show.

She mentioned her family's reaction only in response to a question from Mark Long during the Aftershow, which also included video of her in the hospital in Thailand. It's powerful and compelling stuff.
For those of you who have been saying it looks like there won't be that much drama, just wait. There was actually alot of drama, which resulted in the cast and crew ending filming 2 weeks early.
There is also going to be a "villian" this season.
I find it interesting that Sarah's sexuality did not come up as much, and how she's almost left out of the LGBT storylines in the house. I'm curious as to how she self-identifies, though I would assume ******** since she was very upfront about having previously dated women. If that's the case, just because she's with a man, that doesn't make her any less ******** than if she had been on the show during a period when she was dating a woman, you know what I mean?
Emphasis isn't really placed so much on Sarah's sexuality because Sarah (as a person) doesn't feel the need to label herself; she falls in love with the person, not the gender. Just wait and see, all the letters in LGBT get their rep this season.

Thanks for the clarification k8mnster! I think this season will be one for the history books! BTW great to have you here;)
All I know is that my curiosity about the operation is in overdrive right now. Welcome Katelynn. Glad to see you have been freed from BMP/MTV captivity and we appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us. ;)
welcome to the board Katelynn!
someone said that there will be a villian this season? Wonder who that is?
I think the villain will be either Ryan, JD or Sarah.
I've been a lurker for a long while, I was actually cracking up during the initial stalkerazzi photos when someone said that I would be "the normal one" and that Diva (Devyn) was the ******. Priceless.

For that, you'll just have to wait and see

Wait, you were reverse stalking us?! Isn't that illegal or something? haha.
To be fair, we as a community started off on a bad note with your season but I think we have come around in recent months to appreciate you all as individuals and toss out our grainy, backs to us, photo judgments. :D

Iknow I was thinking the same thing.
Welcome Kate, I am looking forward to your input here at vevmo. I am looking forward to this season because you bring something fresh and new to the show and I am hoping that your story helps other people and also open's narrow minded peoples minds to the transgender community. :D
In most successful literature, there is the hero and the villain. TV has never strayed from from successful literature. Of course, heroes can be flawed and villains can have redeeming and admirable qualities as well. Confusion in attempting to discern which character is which is what the editors must create to keep us on the edge of our seats. Katelynn temps us with the knowledge that the apple will soon be within our reach...if we only have patience. :secret:

An astute observation V. Being the dork I am I'd like to expand further on that nigh-dogmatic plot device if only because I prefer a story where each character is both the hero and villain. It's just a shame that we're limited to roughly 13 hours to spread between 8 insanely multifaceted individuals and a plethora of story arcs.
And I wish you luck with that whole "patience" thing, Goddess knows I've never had any luck with it :-P

Yeah, same, I kind of wish maybe they could have more then just 13 episodes...but that's just me.
btw, welcome to the fourm! :)
