Well just because people are well rounded, it doesnt make them exciting and refreshing. The only intellectual conversations they had dealt with Iraq and Kate. But besides that they were mostly going behind her back and trying to figure out if she was a guy? Doesn't seem so well rounded or intellecutal to me, but that is my opinion. You can be an intellectual and dull. You barely saw Scott, Devyn, Baya, Sarah and JD. I'm not saying they should have gone out and party, drink and have ***, I am not about that, I am just about people being new and refreshing and fun. It just seemed a little boring to me.
It probably is only really fair to compare any first episode with other first episodes. I watched three others this morning and only San Diego seemed to me to have any meat when compared to Brooklyn. Last night's show was clearly by far the better when compared head to head with Paris, San Diego and Las Vegas (three with strong ratings).
-Chet -- You "heard" something when the tapes were off? Really. How about some evidence of that please. It sounds it little like you are mimicking Chet's gossipy nature.
I am not a gossiper by nature, I don't care what people do and definitely dont talk about it. I heard it from some of the panel on the after show.

And I don't mean any disrespect at all. I am just giving my opinion and it was solely based on the first episode. I might be quick to judge and I shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, but this is the first episode thread. So if I offended anyone I am sorry. I am just expressing my feelings.
MizFit, I appreciate your honesty and no one is calling you ignorant. The word comes into play because Ryan referred to himself as being ignorant in this instance. I don't want you to think we are jumping on you because you don't understand or can't relate. Curiosity is a good thing, especially if you truly want to know and learn more so that you can understand. Ignorance is passing judgment without knowledge. If you have an open mind and heart than I have no problems with you. Having said that, I have to agree with V, your posts are negative and don't leave a good first impression. Whether Katelynn was cast for shock value or to break stereo types, I don't know. But I think after speaking with her for 5 minutes they'd have cast her for her not just because she is transgender.
MizFit - I appreciate your honesty as well. When the show was first starting, I wondered if Katelyn would add anthing else to the show besides being transexual. I thought that maybe BMP needed something to give the show a different direction. But mid-watching, I realized that she was interesting and that she was a great choice. Keep watching the show for a few more weeks and I'm sure you'll come around to it. And if it's not the season for you....there's always next time!
These people here with their reviews on the new season are ******* me off: TV.com Forums
Ok, I suppose I'll comment on my thoughts. First off - What a great premiere episode! I'm glad that RW is getting back to basics...back to a more serious, more mature environment. The cast members are all great. I love every single one of them. They all have something unique to add and it's only going to make for a great season. I think that the drama/fighting on this season will probably be pretty tame. It seemed to me like the editing of the "This season..." was struggling to make it look intense (well...except for JD breaking a table...). The fights just looked like minor altercations, slightly blown out of proportion. However...as always, we'll wait and see. That said, even if there is little to no drama (my little unproven theory), it doesn't even matter because all of these cast members are great choices. I'm highly, highly looking forward to this season unraveling. PS - Roomie, I also loved RR: Latin America! It was the last season i truly loved! I loved the episode with the "bang your knees on the rocks" thing and Josh and Holly kept mis-translating haha
This was so amazing. The first premiere in years to REALLY catch my attention. It reminded me of the premieres of seasons like Hawaii where the drama and entertainment started from the get go. Every castmember brings something to the table, good stuff.
Im not going to like Deyvn automatically just because of her color. She's no diva.
You don't like her because of her COLOR? That offends me as an African American person. I seriously hope you meant something else.
Is it me or does this cast and season seem extremely dull? If the only drama they can show is JD smashing a table- than that doesn't seem like such an enjoyable season.
Watching all of the promos and previews, I also felt there was not going to be a whole lot of entertaining stuff going on. And by entertaining I'm not talking about constant partying every night, hookups all over the place, and fighting/spazzing out over what seems like the smallest of things. RW Austin was comprised - at least what they showed - of the cast going to the SAME bar/club many of the episodes, getting drunk, and acting horrific towards each other. And it really is my least favorite season that I've seen. I do prefer the older seasons to the more current ones, for sure. I think I actually tend to like the more serious seasons than the wild ones. However, some seasons that didn't seem to have a huge amount of entertaining content have grown on me and become favorites for me. Sometimes the cast just gets to you. At first, when I watched RW Philadelphia, it was just because MTV aired the repeats a lot and I had nothing to watch. By the time they got to the point where they were taking a two week holiday break from the show, I was disappointed not to see any new episodes. Plus the second group of previews for the next half of the season looked really good. Now it is my favorite of the seasons from the past five or six years. I should say that I don't watch every season of TRW. I just watch on and off. Sometimes I just get in the mood to watch it, and sometimes I don't. Sometimes a season catches my eye, and sometimes it doesn't. But I guess because of me being on a message board and watching the Real World Secrets Revealed show, I decided I should give the first episode a try. And I thought it was decent and I am interested in seeing another episode. I'm not for sure convinced like others are that this season will be just like the old school seasons for sure. Since they have to find their own jobs and such, I think they may have a little less time for partying and such, which may be a difference. Some may have to find a job to pay bills while trying to also pursue their dream, possibly. But it seems they listened to some of the fans and delivered, when they went with the no mandatory job thing. I just wish they would have done it last season, when they were touting that season as a return of going for your dreams. The improv thing seemed a little restraining.
I really enjoyed last night's episode. The Chet/Ryan bromance had me cracking up when they were in that boat and Chet said something like "I'd sail away with you Ryan"...freaking hilarious. I can already tell these guys are going to have me cracking up. I think once they get to know more about Kate their ignorance on the subject will slowly fade and they will become more accepting of her. Which one said something about Kate playing with their ****** though...that was funny too...he didn't sound discusted or anything in my opinion like some ignorant guys would, it was more shock than anything. Katelynn...I really like her attitude, she is not afraid to be who she is regardless of what other people think of her and I love her for that. I also like that she was fearless enough to open herself to the world's overly judgemental people. Hopefully her story changes at least 1 person in this world's view on Transgender people. I will have to reserve comment on everyone else until I find out more about thier personalities and ways of thinking.
I would've love to see Katelynn do backflips and show us her karate moves when the others were doing it (flips and the like).
After having watched every season of RW since New Orleans, this is definitely the first time I feel like I like each of the cast members! I'm totally psyched about this new season. I LOVED Kate, Ryan and Chet. These are the ones I see becoming my favorite ones. I really like the fact that Kate seems to be so sweet and humble. She's someone I can see becoming a RW icon a la Pedro Zamora. About Ryan, I liked how curious, smart and fun he seems to be. The fact that he picked up right away on the fact that Kate is a transgender I find it interesting. This actually makes me comment on something I kept thinking about throughout the whole episode. I know that cast members visit vevmo. I guess I'm curious whether Kate being transgender was something that was leaked on here and that's how Ryan knew. The reason I thought about this is that there has never been a transgender person on RW and Idk about you guys but whenever I see a girl that looks a little masculine I don't just assume that is a transgender person, I simply assume that is a tomboy. The fact that regardless of the fact that having a transgender person in RW was not very likely as it had never happened before, this is exactly what Ryan concluded makes me wonder if he knew about the situation before getting to the house. Then, he also knew right away that JD was gay. There is something mysterious about Ryan lol. About Chet, I think what I like about him is that he reminds me so much of Matt from RW- New Orleans. As a matter of fact I'm actually surprised that they picked him considering that everything about him it's so similiar to Matt and we have therefore seen that before (well Matt is catholic and Chet is a mormon I know lol). I kinda get the feeling though that he will be causing some drama in the house and can't wait to see it. On another note I was surprised that Chat and Baya didn't seem to be too surprised or excited about the fact that they both come from the same city (isn't this a first btw? ). At least if they were excited about it I don't think it was shown and I would've liked to see more of that. Maybe they'll focus on this in the future. Ooo, something else, was there a cast member chosen by people online? If so, who was it? Well sorry for the long review and sorry for the less than perfect English (it's my second language) :)
I guess I'm curious whether Kate being transgender was something that was leaked on here and that's how Ryan knew.
Actually, in cooperation with BMP I held back the story about Kate until that information was made available to the cast.

You write in English very well! There were only two people from prior casts chosen online, from what I remember. The first one was Lori from season 10, RW Back to NY. The second person was on the Hollywood season - the guy who got kicked out of the house for missing too many improv classes. This cast I do not believe has anyone chosen from online. Chet and Baya are at least different by the sense that Chet is Mormon and Baya is not. It gets assumed a lot that people from Utah are Mormon, so perhaps that's a reason why she was not more excited they are from the same city? That, or maybe it got edited? I don't know.
Lori was chosen online? Then why when Hollywood premiere they said He shall not be named was the first?
Lori was chosen online? Then why when Hollywood premiere they said He shall not be named was the first?
She was an internet finalist or something like that. Fans had an input in her getting further in the audition process, at least. Maybe BMP had the final say on whether she would make the show. I guess the process with [strike]G[/strike] "The One who shall not be named" involved the fans more somehow?

This is not the first time that two cats members are from the same city. Heather and Kevin from season 1 were both from Jersey City, New Jersey. Not sure about any other time when castmembers were from the same town. None of the castmember were chosen online this season. That is next season. No worries your english is excellent for a second language!
Thanks :) I didn't know that Lori had been chosen online. I just knew about the cast member from Hollywood that we're not allowed to name lol. I agree with you in that definitely Chet and Baya could probably tell right away that they didn't have much in common. Idk, I guess I was expecting a reaction more like "OMG!!!! you're from Salt Lake City too?!" lol.
Welcome! You write in English very well! Thanks :) Thanks for the info, I didn't watch RW, season 1 so I didn't know. Sometimes I wish they would air a marathon of the first seasons so we could see how different it was back then. I watched this 3 times last night, and I personally think I am going to love this season. There is a lot more to life than going to clubs and hooking up with random people. There are a few things that really caught my attention. There home is beautiful, and the Statue of Liberty being right there gives me a sense of pride. Devyn and Chet walking up to the house and Devyn saying" I just hope there is no storms" just then a flash of lightning from out of nowhere. Ironic..Dont ya think? LOL I loved how Scott was with Katelynn, he seemed very genuine, and carried himself well. I wish we would have gotten to see more of him, Baya, and Devyn! Ryan, I want to read his book!!!!! The boat scene with him and Chet was priceless! I have much respect for a man that served his country. I also understand his curiosity with Katelynn, for I too am curious! He is easily read though, he has a lot of body language. Chet calling ryan out for looking at Katelynn's underwear, I about died laughing. Also Chet saying" I am really proud to have ryan as my roomate, and think there is more to him than meets the eye" I thought Ryan might sprout some wheels and transform into Optimus Prime :) I wonder if Sarah has drawn any of her tattoo's? And I am wondering what happens with her and JD?

Oh ok thanks. Was information about the identity of the castmembers posted on here at all before they got to NY? Or this is information that only becomes available once they get to the house and they start to be seen in public? I'm curious whether Kate's identity (and not the fact that she's transgender) was posted online and maybe Ryan, being as curious as he seems to be lol, went online and googled her and that's how he found out. I know she's had a blog for a while so technically anyone who knew her name could find out that she was transgender by reading that blog or her blogs on her myspace.
Actually, in cooperation with BMP I held back the story about Kate until that information was made available to the cast.
No I meant nothing racist by the Devyn comment. What I meant is there are people I know who automatically like the african american female(never the males for some reasons) just because they are black and they feel afraid to be labeled for putting the "minoritys" last. Mainly the board I came from that is currently dead did this so i assumed all reality boards were the same. Let me adjust. It will take a few weeks.
I also liked the house decor from what I saw. And I must say I that I felt Devyn looks like she could be one of Nehemiah's female cousins or somewhat related to him. I don't mean that in a bad way. Nor do I mean it in a stereotypical way. I doubt they are related, but there was something about her look, and I was trying to figure out what it was. Then it just came to me that she sort of has some similar look that Nehemiah does. I think it's the mouth area or something.
That's impossible. If this was the Hills yes but people who make the show don't know each other to they get to the house. Well except the ones where they had the casting special.
