The Real World San Juan
I was looking up info about season 22 and I stumbled on this... The Real World: Season 21 and 22 Casting Information I dunno how to it is exactly, but it is quoted from MM Agency so who knows
It makes sense. They were looking for Spanish speakers and people with lifeguard skills. Both of these would come in handy in Puerto Rico. I heard this rumor floating around as well, but who knows. We are still quite a ways out.
During the RW Brooklyn event at the Paley Center for Media two weeks ago, Jonathan Murray said he has wanted to do a Real World in Washington, DC for several years, but would not do it until there was a Democrat in the White House. It was the only city he explicitly mentioned in response to a location question.

I'd be all for a stay in our Nation's Capital.
I HOPE they don't do it in PR. I think they should put that off another season and should really do it in DC but who knows if they would be able to film there...it would be crazy! The location has apparently already been selected though.
I hope its in DC, maybe they will be there for the inauguration (wishful thinking of course)
I hope its in DC, maybe they will be there for the inauguration (wishful thinking of course)
Way too soon. They are still open casting calls on the books in January.
I always thought they missed good opportunities to film seasons during the spring/summer of 2004 or 2008 in DC and air them alongside the election season. I wonder why the party in the WH was important to Jon Murray.
Way too soon. They are still open casting calls on the books in January.
January?!? Wow. I wonder why they were casting for "politically active" people for RW:BK and not RW22, and it turn it seems as if Brooklyn is similar to Hollywood (i.e entertainment goals )

While all may have some professional goal, they have strong personal interests and causes that will get lots of air time -- no single fake job to serve as show filler. This thread may bring you up to speed. It's short. Maybe if they go to DC they will get something that actually stimulates the mind, like something government based (again...wishful thinking :) )

Each one may do something in their own field of interest. That is what happens in the Brooklyn season.
I don't see them going to DC next season... It seems as though they go from a real city type location and then next season, go to a warmer place with palm trees and such. With the whole spanish speaking deal...maybe Cancun?

I've always thought it'd be great to see a RW: DC. I'm also happy if Puerto Rico is the next stop!
I've always thought it'd be great to see a RW: DC. So would Puerto Rico because it's nice to see them go outside the norm and go to different places.
I hope they keep on going so they could get a few more seasons in. Maybe in Washington D.C., Phoenix, Atlanta, and somewhere tropical.
Hi all, I'm new on here so please bear with me. I've been lurking for a while but this thread definitely made me wanna join to be able to post :D. I happen to be from Puerto Rico and I currently live in DC so I'm very excited about RW being filmed in any of these two. I remember having heard that RW was gonna be filmed in DC a few seasons ago and DC seems to be mentioned every year but it never happens so IDK. Now about PR, I might have to be taking a few trips back home if that actually happens lol. I can actually see BMP picking a nice house in the Old San Juan area next to where a lot of the bars in that are located. Well once again hi to everybody. :D

He is now open to doing it in DC, and would like to -- no mention of plans or and commitment. He never even hinted that it would be in DC next season. Some people just picked up that idea and started talking about it as though it were real. It's not.
Hey all. I'm another lurker that is just now deciding to post. I started watching the Real World half way through Key West and have watched all the seasons since. As for the topic on hand, I would love to see a Real World in San Juan! No real reason except that I prefer watching seasons outside the continental U.S. As for cities in the continental U.S. I would love to see a DC, St. Louis, Detroit, or Atlanta season. I always wondered why they haven't yet done these cities.

Who knows why MTV picks the places they do, but there are some great potential cities they could choose.

I've heard the Real World has not been done in Atlanta, because the mayor does not want it. I don't know about the other cities. You can look at this article to find out more: http://vevmo.com/f56/the-real-world-un-atlanta-2478/
Anyone hear any news on the next location? If they are looking for spanish speaking castmembers...maybe the most obvious location for the show, Cancun? I didn't pay close attention to Hollywood but I thought they went to Cancun for vacation? The producer could have decided to bring the show there for an actual season.
I always thought Toronto might be a good city for a season. There's tons to do there, and a great nightlife! Plus, the drinking age is only 19 so they might be able to have some younger castmates on there (not that it's stopped the under-21s from hitting up the bars...)

In at least one discussion, Jonathan Murray (who owns Bunim Murray) opined that he embraces the sense of change and desire for Hollywood to be more substantive that the President-elect has extolled.

Then I could go stalk them. :devil2: St. Louis also has a good nightlife, but was recently said to be the most dangerous city in the U.S., lol.
I hope that DC is next location for the RW. If they decide to film here, they will most likely select a neighborhood in North West (Friendship Heights, Adams-Morgan, Glover Park, Georgetown). Yay, I'm excited if it's true.

If they decide to film here, they will most likely select a neighborhood in North West (Friendship Heights, Adams-Morgan, Glover Park, Georgetown). Yay, I'm excited if it's true.
You have to remember the space qualifications that Jon Murray has laid out. 7000 sq feet for cast living area plus an additional 5000 Sq Ft for the crew's production work area. Thus, the requirement is basically a warehouse conversion -- like Brooklyn -- or undeveloped mixed residental/commercial use building. Given BMP's reputation as a cheap bunch, Adams Morgan and Georgetown are simply not financially viable, while the area near the new baseball stadium is lagging in development and space is readily available. Setting the next RW there would be a major PR win for the city and a financial win for BMP.

Yeah, but the area near the new stadium has a reputation for being poverty stricken and crime infested. The area has changed in recent years, but it is still in need of desperate urban renewal. I would suggest Bethesda as an alternate suburban location, but everything here is very expensive. They could lease a "McMansion" in the Bradley Hills neighborhood, but I don't know how well that would go over with our community leaders.
