The Island: Episode 3 - Discussion
We should be fair to Evelyn. She did not give away Kelly Anne's win. The editor did. The cast is not supposed to internally edit their comments in case the producers want to backtrack and use a clip in the dailies or the episode totally out of sequence. The important point would be that in the episode, the dinner preparation sequence takes place after the face-off we saw tonight. The is a production lesson that everyone should commit to memory. Rather than showing the natural progression of things from that last face off where Johnny complained about the opposing "*******" to determing the players in the face off, to the competition, to the dinner, there was a build up to the confrontation between Kelly Anne and Johnny. The editors decided they could make better TV by opening the episode with the "fight." If they had shown it in sequence, Evelyn's point about how Johnny came to win his key would not have been lost. What Ev clearly was saying was that Johnny, Derrick and Kenny knew when J and D volunteered that Abe was going to throw the face-off, so each would get a key. She is reminding them that their method was game-smart but cowardly..
I'm a bit confused, can you explain?
I'm a bit confused, can you explain?
I left Derrick out of the sentence. Perhaps it makes more sense now.
Yay Robin! I'm glad Rachel went home, i was never a fan of her. I think she's a snake. Johanna has disappointed me. I used to like her but WOW, she seems like a completely different person on this show. She may be my most disliked this season. IDK, i just hate the whole setup of the show. Its friggin boring, no missions, fights about food, they just sit around all day until they go and do a stupid face off. Please let it get better because i don't feel that excitement that i usually do during the challenges.

When MTV insisted on a one hour format for Gauntlet three, we saw two missions and two Gauntlets/eliminations in each episode. I thought they had gone way to far in the direction of "action" and gave the challenge little context. This time the pendulum has swung too far in the opposite direction for me and we end up with the fake airdrop and the manufactured confessionals to support the storyline. It has never been so obviously over-produced in past seasons.
We should be fair to Evelyn. She did not give away Kelly Anne's win. The editor did.
In no way did I mean to imply that Ev actually said something she shouldn't have; I just meant what I said in the context of where that scene was in the episode.
I still don't understand why Abe would throw the face off. He could've beaten them both. Then again he left because of the company thing. Or so we think. Anyone know if that is the real reason he left? Sorry for my incessant questioning.

The cast is telling me that his company business was not the reason. I was asked and have agreed not to discuss the real reason under any circumstances.

How is drunkenly going off on someone out of paranoia and jealousy (while doing the same stupid cheerleader handclaps she did to Tonya when she accused her of being a *****) a righteous act? And how is Johanna hooking up with Kenny any different than Robin hooking up with Dan? That's the reason she got his vote to stay, right? And hello, she hooked up with Mark and hid behind alliances quite easily in past challenges. It seems that quite a few people have gotten tired of her, and so left her out of alliances/strategy this time because of it, and it's making her go batshit crazy. Or maybe I'm just the one who is tired of her Whiskey Mary drama. Not only is she a hypocrite, she's acting like an unstable nut. And now she's going to get into it with Ashli? I really don't see what Johanna is doing that is so wrong. She's screwing around with Kenny (to each her own, they're both single), she's shockingly in an alliance with the guy (as are Johnny, Paula, Derrick, etc.), and she openly admits she hates to compete so she prefers to instead use strategy to win (which worked very well her last appearance). People are hypocrites. It seems that alliances are only evil when they're not in the more dominant one. Give me a break. I HATE to say it, but as much of a jerk Johnny is, he's positioned himself in a solid alliance and has a better gameplan than half of these people. All anyone seems to be doing is sitting around talking about how shady everyone is, how evil alliances are, and whose *********** they've had the pleasure with. SHUT UP and play the damn game you willingly signed up for. Or leave if you morally hate it so much. V1, I don't know if you can answer this (heh), but did more castmembers than Tonya and KA get cut off from their meds at one point? And did some of these people have to quit their "recreational" drugs? I was always convinced that some of the loonier Survivor and Big Brother contestants were offbase because they suddenly had to go cold turkey.
Just so everyone is aware, all posts after 6 AM were accidentally deleted. Actually, the entire thread was deleted but I was able to restore back to 6 AM. Long story. Feel free post a newer, better version of your thoughts if your previous entry met an untimely fate. ;)

My missing post was long and intelligent, of course. Therefore it shall remain missing...
Here's my quickcap: 1. Ashli - > Friend of Parisa = Not the previously painted Devil - > Underdog -> Neutral 2. Johanna -> Social game -> Similar to Pavarti (Survivor) -> Good 3. Kenny - > Rumored to smell like a hamster cage - > Bad, but not as bad as Johnny (Very Bad)

That is good Bacchus...really good. I can agree with that but since I never have smelt Kenny I don't know. Johanna, whether you like her or not, is playing a good game to not get targeted and to get far in the game. And Ashli...someone who gets naked that much can't be that bad lol
While I don't like Johanna much, I do think she's being smart. But I enjoy competitors, and with her way of playing the game this time around, she's not really competing. She's just being a bench warmer. That's why I enjoy players like Coral and Veronica. They both have strategy and they can step it up and compete.

If she does not go into a face off, she was 100% chance of not being sent home, but conversely, she has an almost equal change of not getting a key. The math might actually be in her favor... if only we actually knew all the rules at this point and we do not!

Check this out. I find the mention of KA quite interesting. MTV Remote Control Blog Johanna Breaks Down Her Beef With Robin
Why do you believe that it is the truth?
It is just a detailed explanation of what we did hear on air. There was never any inuendo that he left for any other reason then his business. His business is construction and one of the houses was in trouble.

His business is construction and one of the houses was in trouble.
OK, you may have missed (or discounted) an earlier post suggesting that other cast members are privately saying that the reason Abram gave is not true. I'm not saying that I necessarily agree or disagree, but it is unusual for more than one cast member to mention that someone's departure was not as it seemed.
Next week looks interesting and it is going to get heated between Robin and Ashli here is a link to Mtv's sneak peak. The Island Ep.4 Sneak peak
For some reason, I don't think Robin is hooking up with Dan for just a vote. I figured maybe she's lonely and just wants attention. And I find Ev's friendship with Kelly Anne refreshing. I think it's because Kelly Anne's frienships with Ev and Cohutta seem genuine, and not really an alliance as Johnny described.
